Kwang Chow Restaurant

So lucky to live a short walk from here — huge portions of savory and umami meals and an incredibly friendly staff. We have been here multiple times and will be back again — everything on the menu is lovely but highly recommend the orange chicken, pan fried noodles, one of the best egg flower soups I’ve had the honor to try and the incredible variety of the menu.

This was the absolute best Chinese food I’ve ever had. The tempura on the shrimp and sweet and sour chicken was perfectly done, best ever. The food didn’t taste cross contaminated like most places that deep fry, and the egg roll was crispy on the outside and the inside was soft, and the bbq pork was real and tasted amazing. I would come back anytime for sure!

The best Chinese food in the city! I will drive the 10 miles, past a half dozen other Chinese restaurants, to Kwang Chow, for the fried shrimp alone. 15 jumbo prawns deep fried to perfection. It’s really the best old school style. They don’t go for experimentation and asian “fusion” whatever that is. They just make the most delicious straight forward classic Chinese food, I’ll say it again, in the whole PDX.

I’ve been coming here since 2012 & my aunts and mom since the late 1950s. This place is awesome! Come here for chinese food!

This place is a family favorite for more than 50 years! The food beats all others in the neighborhood, and I've tried them all!!!! Any time is a good time to go eat. I recommend this place to everyone to try at least once, I know you will be back again an again!!!!

WOW, what a big, beautiful upgrade they have done in the last year!
It's all opened up, no big dark wall 🧱 that split up the dining room! it's gone for good!
The food is better than I remember it to be, if you like Chinese food, as I do, than go to Kwang Chow on King Rd, almost to 82nd Ave, you won't be disappointed at all !!!!
Yes, the prices have gone up, like everywhere else, except the food is awesome, you have excellent service, & you get food for the week after, you can't beat that!

Great place! My cousin took me and my mom and I loved it all! The water glasses were cool, mom had red lips cuz had a mustache and I had peace signs on our glasses. It was very fitting and we had a great time.

Chinese comfort food. Big portions. Ordered the $15 special plus the HUGE bur tasty egg rolls. Very relaxed atmosphere. Full bar and video poker. Nothing fancy and food is fresh. Enjoy.

Love this place! Been coming here for years as far back as I can remember and never had a bad experience! My son likes to call this place “the tea party restaurant” for their tea! Food is awesome and piping hot. I’ve been checking your open status weekly. I was so excited to see you guys will be open. See you guys soon!!!!

I love this place. The BEST Chinese-American cuisine in the metro area. They have Egg Foo Yung on the menu (and it is good). Everything is as you would hope for in a Chinese-American place. The egg rolls are perfection!

My family, 4 generations, have gone to Kwang Chow for 30+ years. All of us love the wonderfully prepared food. The staff is always friendly and quick service. The sweet and sour chicken is the BEST! Huge pieces of white meat chicken. Generous portions and reasonable prices.

Absolutely love this place. They have amazing egg rolls. Have loved everything I have eaten. They have large portions for a reasonable price. Don't go here for modern construction though. It looks pretty much the same as the first time I visited in the 90's, and it was dated then.

The people are nice, helpul, and accommodating. There is video poker, if you are into that type of thing. Cash only, but there is an ATM by the register that charges $2.25.

My parents owned Kwang Chow since 1979. My brother and his wife bought the business a few years ago and ran the same menu and staff. I waitressed at the establishment for 24 years. My siblings also worked there with Kathy working there the longest, 40+ years! I went and got food for the last time today. An era for our family has come to an end. It is definitely a sad day....
I hope the new owners treat the customers like family because we always did ....

We have been getting take-out since 2020, always good, excellent taste. Kwang Chow is our new "place to go" since The Canton Grill closed. The long drive is worth the trip, no surprises and prompt service. Keep up the good work! Chinese comfort food at its best.
