MCL Restaurant & Bakery Castleton

I loved the food there and the service was great too! I had roast beef with a side of mac and cheese. My husband had the beef Manhattan. Both delicious. We tried the cinnamon bread but I preferred the simple white bread. For dessert the spice cake was moist and so tasty and the sugar cream pie was also excellent! Highly recommended 👍

MCL continues to be one of our favorites. Me and the wife try to eat here at least once a month. The food is always very good And the service is excellent as well. Clean, tidy and good service what more can you ask for. Have had many meals here but last time I had smoked sausage and sauerkraut, the wife had liver and onions. We haven’t been here in months, I was so happy to return. Today I decided on fish, corn and Lima beans with stir fried rice. Quite good despite the fact the fish could have been hotter. And of corse the boss (wife) had her personal favorite the Thursday Special “liver and onions” with your choice of two sides. She chose green beans and corn with Lima beans. Cafeteria style dining with plenty of seats to choose from and a few booths. Please put this place on your list, not extremely expensive and always good food with great service. The food was delicious and the sever was very attentive!

The salad was delicious and the greens crunchy and fresh, dressing was excellent. The stew was flavored just right with hunks of carrots and potatoes service was great, someone carried the trays to the table and were instantly available for anything we needed

It’s MCL. Good comfort food. A large variety. Friendly staff. Vibe is old. A little of a turn back the clock - a little bit of just an older crowd.

Service was polite, timely, and pleasant.

Clean, well-run cafeteria. Very attentive staff. Food is good. Servers appear periodically to offer drink refills or fetch anything else needed. Recommended.

I take care of a man who comes here every Friday with a group of men from church and we have a good experience every week! The food is warm and the restaurant is clean. Mark waits on us and he is AMAZING every week. He is kind and helpful

The server we had to serve on the floor as well as our party of over 30 people, he did the best he could under the circumstances. ....

What is not to like. We went as a large group. We all got what we wanted to eat, and then the helpers kept our drinks filled. It was a going away party for my parents. We brought a cake. However, their desserts are outstanding. I wish I had room for both.

I used to go with my grandmother once in the military. I would go there in
her memories. The one in Castleton was great but the variety I remember was half the size.

MCL is the best! It is not any mediocre cafeteria line, it is amazing home cooked food. The one in Lafayette sadly closed so now we go to this one. I have made tons of memories at MCL. I guess you could say “the real meat and potatoes” of this restaurant is the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, macaroni, and green beans. It is THE BEST MEAL ON THE PLANET! If you are reading this from another country you need to get a flight to Indianapolis immediately so you can try this. It is that amazing. The atmosphere in this restaurant is like my great grandpa’s house, and I love it. You really do feel like you are at home here. It had a nice smell as you walk in, and the whole place feels warm and inviting. The building is really clean too. As you can see I really love MCL, and I know you will too! Quit wasting your time reading reviews and get in the car to head to MCL!!!

The manager found out it was my first time there so he gave me a free slice of pound cake! Great food, excellent customer service! Made my day :)

Enjoyed my meal. A little bit pricier than I remembered from years ago. But still good food & service.
