It's nice to go somewhere where they know how to put love in their food. And it's cool to see old pictures of African American heroes and heroines, and welcoming of those who can respect diversity.

Some want to move from survival to inquiry to sophistication quickly and don't really mind who's back they are going behind or toes they are stepping on, but this restaurant is respectful of others hunger, thinks freely, and is sophisticated in their love of their deep and awesome African heritage and folks of other classes and races.

I love these ladies so much. This is my first stop I bring any out of towner just off the strength of the longevity and consistency they have gave us over the years! Food is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect. Hope they never change.

There’s something about the way the young lady takes my order that keeps me coming back for more. She’s soo nice, my order is always correct and fresh, and when I come to pick up she always greats me with a smile. She provided TOP TIER customer service everytime 😃

Awesome food. The staff are beautiful elder mothers that work together and provide services with love. They don't have a full staff and have a posted ad for help wanted, however with patients and available time, you will get your money worth. I've been there twice, and tipped twice and will do it again. I command good blessings on this business and staff.

Always amazing! Love those ladies! 😍 Love their energy! So glad that they are still in business and will continue to support them every chance I get! My new go to order is the hamburger breakfast, think chopped steak but with a hamburger patty. Eggs scrambled with cheese, bell peppers and onions. Grits with cheese. Wheat toast, very dark. Strawberry preserves. Cranberry juice.

Love love love it! Food is always made to order. Service is specific to the environment lol older ladies in the kitchen cooking ain't got time to hold your hand. Go in there, know what you want and be patient for that home cooked meal. My favorite breakfast spot in Gary

Good home-cooked breakfast

I ordered 2 eggs over medium, bacon, hashbrowns, and white toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly as was the bacon and hashbrowns. It was delicious and ready quick. I will most definitely eat here again. Oh, and make sure you wear your mask when you go in, they enforce that. Enjoy!

Had a wonderful time with my family at Coney Island it's been 20 years since I've been in this restaurant I used to walk from 25t have to Roosevelt High School every day from 9-12 grade. The waitress was kind and friendly and very detail and yes had a nice smile and yes I will be back again. When I come back in town from the ATL I will bring my family back again thanks for a wonderful time

I went to Coney Island since they reopened after the accident. The food is still delish and the lady working the counter was very nice 😄

Good hearty food. Got a skillet with all the toppings. The only knock I can say the eggs were bland but the protein definitely carried.

Aswsome Food staff Id say they have good days and bad. The place located In the heart of Gary. So the customers very some crazy some not. So hopefully you'll get in there on a morning where biz going good.

I love they breakfast. They know me by first name, mainly cause I call in my order after Ive worked my midnight shift. (Often) Try the all meat omellet it's really good!

If you've ever had a homemade breakfast sandwich on toast, and you just don't feel like making it yourself, this is the place. Was treated to one by a friend, it was very good!

I'm very impressed with the food the customer service and the prices. Most important is the flavor and freshness of the food. Very good!
