Marktown,Indiana Community Park

Fantastic part of history, Paul Myers is really the Mayor of marktown, what a historian he is. A great guided tour as well. A must stop for architecture buffs.

I gave it five stars bc this is my city. I love East Chicago,although I moved immediately after high school graduation.
I’m intrigue with the history of it. I may have spent maybe three days in the neighborhood out of the entire time I was in EC. I didn’t really have any friends who lived there. I do know that we used to gripe and get so scared when the school bus had to drop off students there 😂man can you imagine that big ass bus on the sidewalks. Tragic

Historic part of East Chicago. Nice homes clean park. Great place for a mill worker to live no commute!

It doesn't matter to me what people say negative about marktown! I was born there and for that the town will always be home to me as all those I grew up with will be my forever Marktown family! Love that Town! 💯

A model worker community designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw in the English Arts and Crafts style with Garden City planning. Currently threatened by disinvestment and demolition.
