Desolate Coffee

Desolate Coffee is a beautiful cafe on the main road leading up to the Sun Moon Lake area. There is ample parking up front, the interior space is open and airy with lots of seating, and the floor to ceiling windows allow nice views of the outdoors. The service is efficient, staff is nice, and food is good and served quickly. They have a good selection on the menu and lots of desserts to try.

Very spacious cafe with big windows to sight-see. Good clean decoration with ceiling-high cabinets with books and coffee kits. The coffee is okay but the croissant was pretty good. Worth the visit when you are around Sun Moon Lake area

Came to this cafe as my family and I stayed at Sun Moon Lake. This place served good coffee, great food and yummy croissant with soft serve! The beef cheek was fork tender, lovely truffle fries and this place has great vibes.

Great service and atmosphere. Not really crowded when we came (about noon).

The coffee is great, the spaghetti is above average but the size is a little bit small.

Will recommend if you ought to spend a chill time here.

An independent cafe located along the road heading towards Sun Moon Lake. With 360 views of the mountain and a spacious interior to compliment, it is a perfect hang out for brunch/lunch session. The pastries were very well done especially the croissants. They were flaky, buttery and flavorful.

Amazing food, atmosphere and design. The food was very good and unexpectedly so for Taiwan, and had good plating. Staff were also very kind and helpful.
We waited a while to get in since it was lunch time, but it was worthwhile. The only issue was the Wi-Fi not working.

Before we taste the food, we really underestimated its food. To our surprise, Cappuccino was outstanding. Mixture of coffee authentic taste with bit of sour. Even we were told can chose for stronger taste but we prefer baby step first. We chose mild sour. WOW. 5 stars

Cake winter sonata 冬季恋歌was out of this world. Smooth and sweet and sour and but of salty. WOW. Difficult to be described by words. 5 stars

We came to this place for some coffee, but we saw eventually that we had to book their restaurant via their system at the front. However, no staff said hello or offered to help us, it is assumed everyone should know somehow. However, we had another customer behind us who helped us so we got in. The cafe is really beautiful, with a lovely mountain view. We ordered the cloud cake and pasta. The cake was really nice, a French style modern dessert, with a vanilla mousse, pear and some kind of sponge or biscuit. Usually it is hard for me to see whether this entremet would taste good but it was delicious, the mousse texture was light yet creamy. The pasta was decent, it had an onsen egg on top.

Very cool place to hang out with coffee and desserts. Popular for IG folks so always a good idea to visit during off hours. The cotton candy coffee is worth seeing and tasting.

Excellent coffee, beautiful and tasty desserts, green view, very calm and lay back atmosphere. Definitely worth a trip to come. Will come again to try others on the menu for sure.

5 star for the architecture and ambience, 4 for the food and drinks.

Nice atmosphere, didn’t have to wait long for a seat, desserts were very nice and fairly priced. Staff were friendly.

First time dining in a not really-Taiwanese feel coffee shop. They use Rebel Mylk (British brand) as non dairy latte (milk-like texture) in loveramics cup. If you’re not on budget, it’s worth to try!

This is a wonderful, clean coffee shop near Sun Moon Lake. The atmosphere is quite nice, and the service was excellent. We found ourselves stuck without a ride back to our hotel, and they gladly helped us call for transport. Thank you, Desolate Coffee!

This coffee shop is absolutely stunning. The decor and exterior is very clean and modern. I loved the vibes inside. The blueberry tart and croissant were delicious pastry choices. I really enjoyed the flavor and latte art of their cappuccino. Definitely stop by this place and pick up some of their single packs of pour over coffee to make at home!
