Yushan National Park

Very well managed, and the view worth every sweat.

As a beginner hiker the route can be a little bit challenging.

I suggest you apply for the permit to hike from the trailhead to Paiyun lodge on the first day and stay overnight to hike to the peak and make your way back down on the next day.

Well worth the hike. Especially making it up top to the peak. The views from the trail are beautiful all along the hike! Of course the views from the top are some of the most magnificent. The lodge stay is okay, good for its circumstances. But don’t expect much from it. There is all sorts of beautiful scenes that I would love to come back during different times and do more than just the summit hike. Beautiful!

Top summit of Taiwan, no need to add anything more !. Yushan climb is really great, from start to finish. Many climbers consider that booking the entrance in the park is a bottleneck, but if you do not book one night at Paiyun lodge and do the climb in one day, it's easier to get the permit. That "one day climb" is for sure, a long day (like 26 km trail, with 1400 altitude elevation), but it's really doable for any trained hiker (and good weather conditions !).

Amazing hike to the highest mountain of Taiwan and the whole Western Pacific region. It took us 14 hours in total both ways during the one day trip but we had lots of stops and the weather was changing a lot as well, in better conditions you can do it under 12 hours I guess. Good hiking shoes recommended, the track is quite long for one day but totally doable if you are a bit fit. Only last 500 m is technical otherwise standard hiking trail.

A great sight for mountain lovers!! Definitely worth the long hike and chilling cold. Truly an awesome adventure. Such a beauty!

Yu Shan or Yushan, also known as Mount Yu and by other names, is the highest mountain on Taiwan Island at 3,952 m (12,966 ft) above sea level, giving Taiwan the 4th-highest maximum elevation of any island in the world. It is the highest point in the western Pacific region outside of the Kamchatka Peninsula. Yushan and surrounding mountains belong to Yushan Range.

What an amazing experience. My second time here. This time with our 7-year old. Joni Santos Vidola hiked, scaled, and summited Mt. Jade Main Peak a little after sunrise in the morning of April 11, 2018.

Highest Peak in Taiwan! If you're a hiker, come here. But becareful with your steps cuz most of the trail can be dangerous. Anyway, this mountain offers walk-in permit but you have to go day pack. Means, you are not be able to stay at Paiyun Lodge before summit attack.

I went hiking here. The views were spectacular. The trails were well established and not that crowded.

Magnificent hike and exciting climb to the summit. Please prepare for strong wind, rain and cold!

Fantastic national park with stunning views of the high peaks and forests. Even if you are not into hiking a drive on the Route 21 allows stunning views of nature and the surrounding mountains. However, be aware that there will be a road closure in the late afternoon. At the headquarter of the park just up the road is a great place to relax with a good meal.

Beautiful place, not crowded with tourists like other parks we traveled.
Difficult level isn't for everyone, not so hard but get ready to sweat.

The views at the top and on the way up are fantastic. Excellent place to ride bikes.

Narrow mount road, might be easier to take public transport than driving on your own. It is a very scenic drive

Peak of Taiwan. A must to conquer if you are visiting the country. It is not going to be easy and a good preparation will ensure that you enjoy your climb.
