TSUTAYA BOOKSTORE

Came to see the beautiful exterior and check out the cafe on the inside. Since we were super full from duck lunch, we decided not to get the parfait they had but it did look great and we saw tons of people there.
We also didnt end up buying anything, because we realized it was the same inventory as when we were in Japan... and we will be there soon so really no point in paying more for the goods.

There are a lot of small items for sale that will definitely attract your eye balls, there are cafe there as well. although items are abit expensive there, qualities say the price. Good atmosphere and I like the music/piano a lot when you wandering around here :) Great place that definitely worth a visit if you are in Taichung!

Very interesting bookstore. Things are a bit pricy tho

This isn't just a bookstore. It's a combination of bookstore, stationary, cafe, gallery, and crafts shop. There were tables and artworks alongside the bookshelfs, and the customers can read the books with the artworks and a coffee. The space is well-designed so instead of buy-and-go, it gives you a vibe like visiting an elite friend's study room (I even saw a section of wine).
The book arrangements and sorting were extra detailed, comparing with other bookstores. There were even sections named "how to be successful" and "all about love".
Also I guess because it's a Japanese brand, there are a lot of Japanese books and magazines, as well as books introducing Japanese culture. I didn't like that feeling though, it almost make me feel like it's flattering Japan, but if you like Japanese culture and are finding Japanese books, this is the place. I like the Taiwan section as well.

Overall it was a great experience shopping there, and it's also a nice place for reading and studying - you don't need to buy to read and no one will ask you out - they have even prepared a cafe for people staying there forever.

The only disadvantage is that it is too bourgeoise - I forgot to bring water and was hungry, and I had to buy something to soothe myself, since there was no convenience store in walking distance. The food was delicious but pricey.

To conclude, bring your own water bottle and feed yourself first before going, if you were a poor student like me.

A cup of coffee prices 120twd. Allowed to to take 3 books from bookseller. There are electricity beneath the table. Comfortable to stay. There are alcoholic beverages and light food too. Restroom is very clean. Highly recommended!

Amazing atmosphere. Great selection of books and imported stationeries/accessories. One drawback: the lighting on outdoor staircase causes visual confusion that customers might miss the actual stairs and fall down.
