Visited in Februray this year, the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas in Taiwan's Kaohsiung are an enchanting duo of architectural marvels. Positioned by the Lotus Pond, these vibrant structures aren't just visually striking but steeped in spiritual significance. Walking through the jaws of the Dragon and emerging from the Tiger's mouth is more than an experience—it's a symbolic journey. Inside, intricate murals and statues narrate ancient tales, immersing visitors in Taiwan's rich cultural heritage. Ascending to the pagodas' summits unveils breathtaking vistas, painting a serene portrait of the surrounding landscape. The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas aren't just a tourist stop; they're a portal to Taiwan's soul, inviting exploration, reflection, and a deep connection to its profound history.

Unfortunately, we arrived on Oct 5th right when the temple was being renovated, hence we were unable to visit inside. The pagoda is located in a large lake area and nearby there are other big statues for you to freely take photos of. There is also a park area nearby, so it is quite ideal for an afternoon stroll along the lakeside to admire the scenery in the pure air and cool breeze.

Sadly the pagodas are currently (Jan 2024) being renovated, I think it could be beautiful but currently not so amazing from the outside 😅 inside is quite impressive, and the lake is fun to bike around

Very impressive place to check out for the culture and architecture. Too bad a portion of it was under renovations as of Dec 2023 but there's still lots to see. Turtle and lotus pond were cool as well.

Its currently being renovated. You can enter but you can't see anything apart from scaffolding.

I loved this place so much and we ended up visiting it twice during our trip. By day, you can really see the intricate details of the Pagoda and the Dragon and Tiger. At night, the lights give you an entirely different kind of vibe. The area is perfect for watching birds and wildlife as well we saw various birds and ducks, swans and even plenty of turtles during our visits. There are also street stalls and restaurants in the area. There's a bus that goes here from the city center and/or the High Speed Train Station Zuoying. Highly recommend visiting this place!

A must visit in Kaohsiung. Looks big from pictures but the pagodas are adequately sized. Well maintained and beautiful area! Easy access with local bus. Please bring mini fan or umbrella and maybe mini towel cuz if the weather is hot and nice, you’ll sweat buckets. It was 34c when I went there at 9-10am. No tickets, free entrance!

Must visit attraction in Kaohsiung, can spend around 2 -3 hour to visit and walk around the lake, this Attraction is free admission, worth to visit , look at the lotus in the lake, full of lotus near the pagoda, there is some religion story inside the entry side to exit . make sure you use the correct entry side , do not use the wrong way to enter.

We visited the Lotus Lake as part of a tour group, and so we only had about an hour or so here. But I wish that we had all day. There are temples, pagodas, pavilions and even a mechanized water skiing facility located at this lake. It is a popular local destination that gets a lot of tourism as well. We were lucky enough to be able to walk through the Dragon and Tiger to cleanse ourselves from bad spirits.

Unique temple located on a lotus pond, you have to enter from the dragon side and go out from the tiger side ti have a good luck (it’s a myth, you can believe it or not). The place is quite well maintained, don’t see any toilets nearby though

This is such a pretty place to visit. I love the architecture of the place. It feels good to walk in with water all around. This place gives you a great sense of Taiwanese culture and how they worship. I felt at peace when i visit this place and it is immensely beautiful. Unfortunately it was a cloudy day when i visited and the sun would've definitely enhanced it's beauty. I suggest a good 2 -3 hours to visit this place and nearby areas. Take time to experience the place.

Beautiful pagodas with many lotuses surrounding it. It is said that going into the dragon's mouth and emerging though the tiger's mouth symbolises bad luck turning into good fortune. Entry is free.

It's still under renovation. However, you still can enter the interior but not able to scale tower (as of 13 Dec 23)

This place is amazing, you can spend 3 hours there, take 100s of nice photos, you can rent Ubike there, you should enter from one tower and exit from the other one to replace the bad luck with good luck.

I reay enjoyed my visit to this beautiful creation in Kaohsiung. It was very busy at the time that I went because it was Chinese New Year. It is said that entering through the Dragon's throat and exiting through the Tiger's mouth symbolises turning bad luck to good fortune so you best believe that I did exactly that haha... Great views from the top as well. You must see this if you are in Kaohsiung.

Amazingly beautiful pagodas with spectacular view

Be aware that you should enter from the dragon’s mouth and out from the tiger’s
Inside the mouths of both dragon and tiger, you’ll see beautiful sculptures on the wall
They are all really meaningful and came from interesting Chinese history
Worthy of checking them out

You can go on both pagodas
The view up there is terrific
The panorama view of Kaohsiung is unforgettable
