Great night market with lots of food selections. The market is packed with local people especially during weekends. We enjoyed some of our favorite foods here. The ambiance is good and the people are just friendly and nice. The price is also not expensive. Surely you can shop around and pick anything that comes up your way as you walk down to the end of the street. It is also a walking distance within 15 mins especially for those who stay close to Kaohsiung station. Make sure you come and visit when you're in a nearby area. I would definitely come back when there's a chance.

This is one of several night markets in the city. The place is interesting to visit, and everyone can touch the local way of life and culture. There is mostly a wide selection of food that should be chosen more carefully. Unfortunately, these markets over time are losing their authenticity as they start to become more of a tourist destination, and this contributes to losing the emotion of being there. Overall, i recommend visiting the market.

I actually enjoyed this Night Market very much as there are a lot of food options besides the usual fried stuff commonly found in other Taiwan night markets. Recommendations include:
1. Seafood porridge
2. 葱油饼 (Scallion pancake)
3. Teppanyaki Fried Rice (Chef is bald and has a beard, the store should have a long queue)
4. Dumplings (staff may be unfriendly but the dumplings are really good)
5. Papaya milk (store pictured below) The papaya milk is thick and refreshing with no added sugar. If you prefer something sweeter with more milk, do try the other stores instead.
6. (地瓜球)Sweet Potato Balls and (盐酥鸡)Fried Chicken
They are 2 stores side by side with the same owners. The sweet potato balls remained crispy even after they turned cold and the fried chicken was not too salty.

It’s a great market to sample some Taiwanese food. Of course it’s not super local and they don’t have so many options, but definitely worth to try. Vendors are nice and speak English and it’s not super crowded

Clean, garbage cans and free seating in the middle. Lots of variety of foods. You will notice there are a few shops competing to sell the same foods. There are convenience stores along the market if you need to use a washroom or grab a drink (or a beer).

It’s a very good night market though it’s not a very big one. Location is easily accessible.

Most of the stall owners are nice and friendly. Food is yummy and cheap. Many stalls have tables and chairs to serve customers. Rubbish bins are also easily located.

It’s a must coming to Taipei. I recommend the pork bun at the beginning of the street which is also Michelin star rated. There are so many varieties of food: fried chicken, stinky tofu, grill beef , vegetarian options , bubble tea and etc…. There are so many interesting activities in this market. For like $3 i was about to get a fortune reading or your personality analysis. There are also massage like $20 for an hour, the guy did a good job on fixing my shoulder pain. I learned it’s not about the luxury or comfortable experience there but the guy can get my problem fixed.

one of my favourite night markets when i went there. if you want a wide selection of goods and a wide space for you to walk then id recommend you to come here. there might not be many people here compared to more popular night markets like ruifeng but the vibe here just feels right. there are dustbins along the night market and seats that belongs to some stalls so if you buy from them you can seat and eat.
tip: exit formosa boulvard from exit 11, you will be right outside the night market

SO MUCH BETTER THAN RUIFENG!

If you are visiting Kaohsiung and considering which night market to go to, I would suggest skipping Ruifeng and coming to this instead. Better local food and way less crowd.

We got to try so many dishes and even got to sit down at some stalls.

Grilled mochi: interesting texture!
Spring onion pancake: we tried curry flavour and it went very well
Pork ball & fish ball: have never tried this before and would recommend it
Sugar cane juice: the lady was too generous with the lime

I went after the typhoon and the rain was coming and going, so not many stalls were open. I still loved the variety and I like this market cause it’s spacious and it didn’t feel crowded. I’d only avoid the oyster pancake place - the one done on a large hot plate. Queue was long so I thought it would be good. Turns out, it was just disorganised, girl took my order and had me standing there for ages while everyone else got theirs especially people who ordered after me. When I finally got it 20 min later, it was sloppy and drenched in a bland sauce. Was not worthy of my time at all!

My favorite is the peanut dumpling. The glutinous rice is sticky yet it melts in the mouth. The peanuts look hard but are brittle. They lend the mouth bite of dumpling a delicate texture difference. Flavour wise, the miso gravy lends the dumpling the much needed umami. The traditional artisanal skills are admirable. 简直是出神入化!

The first night market I visited in Kaohsiung! The place was not so crowded but many people and there are numerous choices for the food. The price for drinks are 40-80 NT and for food is around 50-150 NT!! Quite affordable and the food are delicious!!
