Miaoli Hakka Round House

Quite a small place but pretty nice experience to see the Hakka round building. Free entry, if you are nearby can pay a visit!

For me that I am a foreigner this round historical building is unique and amazing as I had never seen something similar as a building.

I liked that there was some exposition and I kind of museum, which talked about the food of Hakka, their dresses, utensils, objectes etc although maybe I would have preferred it to be more related to the life in that particular Hakka building instead of general Hakka culture.

The entrance anyway was free and there was a shop inside but the shop had objects very expensive and it is a pity since I wanted to get some souvenir. Also, although the perfume was good, they had many chemicals in their products.

Inside at the center of the building a band was playing some music.

Outside there is a beautiful small river and also some seller like local market association (something like that) where you can try typical Hakka products such as different herbal teas and buns. Only point is I am vegan and I ate a vegan bun and it tasted so much of meat that I had to throw it and spit it...i thought it still had meat...
Some other people also sell plants there and other things.

A must to see for sure!

New building with a special round shape. 3 floors inside filled with rooms for exhibitions of Hakka culture, Hakka tools, Hakka cuisine and shops etc... There's a stage for performance. Outside the building, there's a pond with very big golden fish and there's a mini market with very friendly local farmers. This place is just next to Miaoli HSR station.

Worth a brief visit to appreciate certain aspects of the Hakka culture. Great for pictures. The indoor amenities are well kept clean. Refreshments are available. Easily accessible. Can combine with a nearby attraction the Academy of Excellence.
