Chanced upon this place through google search and had one of the best meal experiences I’ve ever had. Delicious food and excellent service, especially by server 105 who was proactive and meticulous with every part of the meal. Even brought out deserts with a personalised art on the background. Would definitely visit again if I come to Taichung! 100/10!

What’s on the Menu?
On the menu, you can find typical Japanese BBQ dishes such as: raw meats, fresh vegetables, soups and salads as the side dishes. Besides, they also serve a wide selection of beef, pork, chicken and seafood.

What’s my favorite dishes?
Not in particular. Beef and pork are fresh and juicy. Dessert is delicious as well. Overall, I would rate it as 😋😋😋😋

How’s the service provided?
Table service was provided and staff were attentive, friendly and very helpful. Overall, the level of service is excellent!!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Is there any seat available when you were there?
Yes, there were plenty of seats available. Note that you need to make a reservation in advance to ensure you have a dining space available when you arrive the restaurant or avoiding long queue.

Is there a queue when you were there?
No as it is non-peak hours.

How’s the décor?
The restaurant is well decorated, clean and organized, 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻: 1st floor is lobby that allows customers to have a sip of tea or coffee and preview the menu before seated, while 2nd floor is Main dining area and 3rd floor is a VIP dining room and restroom.

Is it convenient to travel to the place?
Yes, it is about 3 minutes walking distance from Shui-An Temple MRT Station(捷運水安宮站) to restaurant.

Will I travel to here just for the food?
Maybe. But, I prefer to Kanpai Classic (老乾杯) located in Taipei.

Will I visit the place when I am around?
Yes, if I am visiting Taichung

Final Verdict:
Overall, food and service were excellent that one cannot find anything to complain.

The meat is marinated well, with a tinge of sweetness. It goes well with the cabbage and kimchi (not spicy but sweet). The service of staff is excellent. Even though it is full house, the staff will help to change plates, gauze and help us cook and “deshell” the prawns. We were handed clean towels at least three times. They gave us a complimentary matcha ice cream with black glutinous rice cos it’s my husband’s birthday !

It was so amazing. We are a group of 4 vnese pp but only call the set for 2, still so full and delicious. The services are so nice, always smile and kind. You guys should try, I mean MUST TRYYYYY 🤌🤌🤌 the price of our set is only more than 2000, I think that deserved

Definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Taiwan. Food was excellent, and the service was exceptional. Special thanks to #52 服務人員, who was very proactive and meticulous with every part of the meal. Would definitely visit again if I come to Taichung!

The service is awesome especially for the birthday celebration. The paint is so cute. The food is good also with clean/comfortable environment. Highly recommended.

The place is bustling with BBQ and surprisingly low amount of smoke smell on our clothes after meal. Excellent service with constant attention from the servers, frequent change of grill-net ensuring less burn. Meat is delicious, seafood is fresh, congee is average at best but almost every table has it. Free chicken soup. Better reserve as there are a lot of patrons.

Food was great and had this very attentive crew who does table service grilling. Shout out to 19 and 43 for going the extra miles.

It was a tad smoky in the place from the grilling, could improve the exhaust a little.

Ordered the A5 Japanese Wagyu set @ NTD4580 (before extra 10% service fee). The set came with appetizers, side dishes, rice and soup, prawns, scallop and beef tongue.

Total of 6 different cut - short rib beef, shoulder marble beef, short rib bone, snow flake, marbled beef, angular cut.

Overall service was pretty decent, staffs were pretty attentive when it comes to changing of grill. However due to the nature of the reservation, staffs can be overwhelmed by the crowd.

AMAZING experience at Umai Yakiniku Wenxin Branch! The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and approachable! The ambience of the restaurant is SO awesome !!! Each cut of the meat was sliced perfectly Staff number 03 was so helpful and guided us on the ways to cook the different cuts and which sauces to go with etc. 10/10 would definitely recommend and will certainly come back again when I visit Taichung again!!!! At the end of it, for desserts, they even decorated a thank you note made of powdered sugar(?) which was so THOUGHTFUL and Heartwarming!!!!!!

Very good, but need to book a month in advance..
Great service, 1.5 hours having lunch but the waitress kept changing the grill net almost 15 times.. A friend of mine had birthday on the following month so we got beautiful design of plate.. but no free cake.. those desserts were indeed our order. For me the portion was just so so, finishing the dish I didn’t feel full.. but the beef and pork quality is distinguish 👏👏

One of the best place to visit for bbq meat lover, recommended to make reservation. The staff are professional, even you one how to eat with different condiments that best suit the portion. Even do the cooking for you. Glad to have staff number 84. Very polite and professional!

Superb food and very timely service throughout the meal. Our waiter, number 90 constantly came to check on us as helped us cooked as well. We love the meat, sauces and salad was appetising! Will recommend friends to come here!

Wonderful food and amazing service, we had a pleasant evening enjoying the food and service that we got! Waiter no.10 was attentive, friendly and meticulous, making our meal more enjoyable beyond the food itself! Kudos to him for attending to us despite the crowd in the restaurant and changing our grill throughout our meal numerous times!

I love this place, Celebrated my wife's birthday here, and they didnt disaapoint... Quality Service and Quality Meats! ok its a bit pricey but your not gonna eat here everyday... its a perfect place for that special occasion... and I suggest get a reservation early because theyre almost always packed and booked...

Food is good and service is excellent

What a cool and tasty place, it's the best bbq in town, there are two restaurants in town and both are to die for, about $40 per person and you only get the best so for me it was a bit inexpensive. We lucked out someone canceled their reservation so they were nice enough to give us a table. Make sure you make reservations a day before at least. Portions are massive and they keep coming and coming so make sure to be super hungry! :)
