One of the better restaurants we have visited on this trip. There was a mix of locals and tourists and the place was deafening, with lots of loud conversations and toasting with drinks at many tables.

The food was of a high standard, and featured traditional Taiwanese food served in an elevated way. We especially liked the shredded scallops with seaweed and the cold brined goose, as well as the cold crab with roe on top of glutinous rice.

The rest of the dishes, like prawn cakes, squid balls and pork chop, were good too, particularly with the local Taiwan beer.

Service was friendly even though they were rushed, and they even helped to bring out a birthday cake for one of the group.

They do serve shark’s fin soup, so do take note if you object. Prices were on the high side, expectedly, and this was one of the most expensive dinner thus far on the trip, at around $12000. But the quality was high.

This is one of the best restaurants in Taipei and a must try. It is easier to get a table at this location compared to 忠孝; but if you are coming with a party larger than 2, it is a good idea to call ahead to make reservation.

Service is impeccable and runs like clockwork. Atmosphere is inviting, and is well suited for a date, business gathering, or just hanging out with friends and family.

My favorite dishes include:
- 正宗菜脯蛋
- 三杯杏鮑菇
- 干貝小魚花生
- Fried fish (pomfret)
- 杏仁豆腐

In my opinion this is a really good restaurant with authentic Taiwanese food with a balanced price point. I am also very glad that there is a robotic seat that can help people with limited mobility to move up the staircase to the dining floor on the second level. Lastly some reviews mentioned the attitudes of the staff but in my opinion, they are just a little curt but effective and done their job well.

I suggest you make a reservation and dine in. The menu is with English and Japanese. Generally I will give it a 4.5 stars, but the great service made it earn an extra 0.5 points. Highly recommend for the first bite of a typical Taiwanese meal.

Personal recommend pork liver and it’s Taro rice noodle!
Pork liver is well cooked with a nice sauce and no smelly flavor.
The taro rice noodle is speechless. The taro made the soup so sweet and fresh! The taro is cooked until half melted which is the best condition in my opinion.

The price is a bit higher than average restaurant. Credit card accepted.

Super famous high-end Taiwanese cousin & restaurant. All the dishes are very delicious and with fresh ingredients. The place is very busy and the ambient noise is quite loud; they do have private rooms, so you can make reservation ahead of time.

Great Taiwanese cuisine & Service!
If traveling to Taipei you need to try at least once a true Taiwanese food experience. This place is one of the best, many dishes and with pictures so you don’t have to worry about ordering. Decor is very attentive and good rice wine as well!

Very nice Taiwanese cuisine. We had the set meal (NT$1500 per person + 10%). There were 8 dishes including entree, main and dessert. All the dishes were delicious and I was impressed by the entree, soup and fried rice (really, nothing fancy, simply good).

Wanted to visit this outfit for many years and was able to have lunch with several friends. Good selections of tasty dishes. The steamed fish was really good. Place is clean and service was good, in traditional Taiwanese style. A bit expensive but not out of line.

Food is amazing! A must try in Taipei. I have never tried traditional Taiwanese dish. The restaurant is not expensive given it has Michelin star.

It costs around USD30 per person. The furnishing is traditional.

Suggest to book a table in advance of you have to wait a long time.

I'd have to say that this was the most memorable restaurant from my recent business trip to Taiwan. All the locals have at least heard about this place. With a history of more than 35 years, they have several locations throughout Taiwan, but the atmosphere is completely different depending on the location you visit!
The one I went to was the main location, where most of the time, is full of customers dining with their families. The day I went too, looked like there were many regular customers who have been coming here for decades.
Who I think are the owner president, Vice President, and upper management staff were all walking throughout the restaurant, checking on the food and greeting all the customers.
To describe the food in one phrase, it is what your mother may cook for you after you are away from home for a long time. It is nostalgic taste of home, something you are very familiar with.
Apparently, the owner, a female in her 60's or 70's goes to the midnight market every day to carefully select the freshest ingredients to be used at the restaurant.
I had some bamboo shoots that were just picked that day, simply stir fried with no unnecessary seasonings. It was so fresh that I was able to sense a hint of the dirt that it was grown in. It really felt like I was eating this seasonal vegetable straight from the farm.
And the shrimp in chili sauce! Typically, this dish is sweet with some tartness, but it was neither sweet nor sour. I tasted only the juicy meat of the shrimp, flavored with chili garlic sauce (I'm not even positive if they actually use chili garlic sauce in this dish though!).
But the best part of this meal was the almond tofu that I had for dessert. I really wanted to take some home with me, it was so delicious! The secret is that they make everything by hand. Even the almonds are grated by hand, so you get the full roasted flavor of the nuts. And the consistency is just the perfect firmness, which I can't even describe in words. I didn't even know that this was almond tofu when I had my first bite! You should definitely try it if you are in Taiwan. And the cost is quite reasonable too. Everything I had came out to just under 7000JPY. I'm so glad that I followed my friend's recommendation to come here. I'd like to come back with my family next time. I can't recommend this place enough...you just need to try it yourself the next time you're in Taiwan!

Tasty cuisine with culture. Famous restaurant by serving Taiwanese cuisine, never let me down even I have been trying several time. Most of cuisine were not pricy, we tried many dishes this time and it costed not much. Suitable for family or office meeting. Highly recommend! Proud of it, what a Taiwanese brand.

Our old time favorites are still there : steamed minced pork with salted egg, that so tender fried pork liver, the beef with xo sauce and of course the almond jelly dessert😋

Very good taiwanese cuisine. Braised pork belly was cooked to melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. Should try some of these: pork kidney cooked with ginger and chinese wine, crispy fried pork marinated with fermented bean, 3 kind chicken, fried pomfret fish. An absolute satisfying lunch on our 1st day in Taipei.

One of the classic taiwanese restaurants that i keep coming back whenever im in the country.
They serve simple homestyle taiwanese food (ofc with a lot of chinese influence).

Worth commenting is the dessert almond pudding. It has a surprising texture. My best guess is they put pounded glutinous rice flour. Texture is mochi like.

Classic dish such as soy based braised pork and three flavor chicken are worth ordering.

A great place to host a banquet, lots of private rooms and dishes are well worth portioned. Ingredients and preparation reflect Taiwanese traditions. Most dishes are quite delicious. Corkage is NTD 300 per bottle so do bring your own wines for better guest indulgence.

My friends were not able to book the restaurants but they went early to see if they could have a chance to get tables. They were given a table. They enjoyed the food and service.

This place was quite a pleasant find! Good authentic and tasty Taiwanese cuisine. Didn't find the service to be a problem as they lady downstairs and waiters were friendly enough. But then again I came here a bit late at around 10pm.

I just had a light dinner, trying 2 of their signature dishes - the braised pork and fried egg with turnip. Both were really tasty and I regret only ordering the small portion of the pork.

I'll definitely come back the next time I'm in Taipei.
