Good food options and historical preservation is impressive for the whole street and a generally interesting snd convenient spot to go alone or in a small group, with a bus station nearby making it easy to transit to from tainan city, avoid peak times

This is a short old street, most of the buildings were built during the Japanese rule. It may not be particularly special in the past, but it is very precious now because of uncontrolled development in Taiwan recent decades, so the local residents are exceptionally commendable because they were voluntarily retain. Old Street should not only be food and shopping, the building can tell us more about people's spiritual pursuits and work attitudes in the past.

There are many beautiful homes here, built during the Japanese occupation. They are all in a Western style, or mostly so. Before the busy Chinese New Year, there are many stalls selling several delicious snacks and drinks, as well as some hand made goods. There are a few games here, a couple of places that let you do DIY crafts, street performers, and other attractions. As my local 新化 friend says... It's good for tourists.

this is basically where I grew up. I love it especially when it's drizzling. The local delicacies are delicious. In the New Years, there are markets here (年貨大街). It's really worth a visit.
