The quality of the pastry is great and that's why people keep coming back for their pastries. I came to this shop on Tuesday morning at 8:40am and the queue was already formed. It took me an hour to enter the shop to purchase the pastries that I wanted. The queue was longer after purchasing.

The cheese cake is my first time trying it. The outer layer is the cheese and the sponge cake is soft. Overall, it's good! Egg tarts are delicious too 😋

🚨There are few items that they do limit the customers to purchase. 太阳饼,老婆饼 and 牛奶饼 which they have limited 2 boxes for each type and the packaging is in 6pcs per box. Do take note of this! 🚨

If you want to purchase any items here, please do plan ahead before heading down.

They do accept credit card payment. I would recommend this shop is a must to come. This is the one and only ChiaTe in Taiwan!

This is the first time I came to Taipei and many locals & also my Viet friend recommend me buy those cakes.
I came here at 10a.m and I have to wait around 1.5hours to enter the shop and buy sweet treats. But it took only 15 mins for me to collect stuff because I'd choose which kind of cakes that I would buy before (they gave you the menu for pick-up). This was totally worth waiting.

• Pineapple: SIGNATURE MUST TRY!! I'm not keen on sweet things and this cake's not sweet as I thought. All my friends love it

• Milk cake & Wife cake with a little bit soft skin & slightly sweet. I love it for sure but they are only good to eat for 2-3 days

• Green onion cookies combine cracker, the nougat (mashmallow + cream + green onion)

I LOVE Chiate so much!

heard that there are 3 famous brands for Pineapple Cake in Taiwan: ChiaTe, Sunny Hills, and Leechi. Tried them all but Chiate still won my heart.

MUST try their Nougat Cracker (green onion) cake as well, I bought it because so many people here in Google review and it doesn't dissapoint! so yummy with a hint of saltiness.

Their sun cake is better than the one I bought in Taichung as well (heard Sun cake is originally from Taichung).

One thing to note is to expect the long queue. I actually would recommend you to came 30 mins before the opening time or in the afternoon. Heard in the afternoon the line is not bad. I came at 8.35 in the morning and ended up queueing for 1.5 hrs. Many people lined up before the store opened, so I feel even I came 15 mins later, there are not much difference.

They only have 1 store in Taipei (near Raohe Market), but other options are:
- Klook pick up at airport / delivery to hotel
- Family mart in Ximending actually sell this
def other options above charge higher price, but can save you time.

Visited on 3 Dec 2023. Both the nougat cracker and pineapple pastry are nice! Luckily the queue was not too long and we managed to enter the shop in 10 minutes.

Packed with late shoppers even at night time before the shop closes at 830 pm. We arrived there at 730 pm and waited for to be called about 10 minutes. We bought a famous Pineapple snack or a small cake.

The pineapple pastry and mochi dorayaki are so perfect that you should have them at least once in a lifetime. The queuing time was about 1 hour for my last visit, but it was absolutely worth it.

IMHO, the best pineapple tarts in Taiwan. Expect to queue for a minimum of one hour to buy your goodies. But to be honest I have tasted better ones in other countries.
The fact that they have only one store adds scarcity and value to their products. The 'Sun Cakes', which is a gentrified version of the Malaysian 'Pong Pheah', is quite unique also.

I have to say that their sun cakes are absolutely worth the wait. The shop opens at 8:30 am, and although I arrived at 8:45 am, I found myself in a 30-minute queue.

Thankfully, I was fortunate enough to secure the last 5 boxes of their delectable sun cakes. If you're planning to visit, I highly recommend coming early to ensure you don't miss out on these delicious treats. The wait may be a bit long, but the sun cakes are definitely worth it.

OMG the experience of buying cake here is memorable. As they only have 1 store in Taiwan so even though they open at 8:30 am but people already came and line up from 7:00 am i bet. We came around 8am but the queue already so longggg 🥹. However as soon as they open, i can see the line come in and out quite fast as the staffs here are all professional, they pack things quickly and people also got their choices before coming in. It’s really worth the wait as when i come back to my country and try their cake, i wish i can come back and stay on queue immediately, it taste too good, even i’m not a fan of pineapple cake but stated to want more, the nougat crackers also another level, it’s tasty, delicious and keep you wanting for more. Will definitely come back and buy even if i have to queue from 7am!!!

👍:
-Okayy  this is probably one of the places that almost everyone will come when they visit Taipei. When you walk by the fragrance of freshly baked goods will lure you in instantly.
-The items are freshly made, so don't expect them to last long. Most have a short shelf life of just around a few weeks.
-They will give you a paper and pen for you to write you order in, there are display items on the shelf to indicate what is what.

👎:
-If you come late most of the items will be sold out by the later part of the day.

We visited on weekdays in November. Long queue but you can ask for the order sheet while you wait so when you enter the store you can directly go to the cashier. The cashier can speak English. Their pineapple pastry is a must!

Must try in Taipei! Love their milk cake and green onion nougat biscuit. Their items are quickly sold out everyday even when I arrive at 11am in the morning. Their staff are very helpful and efficient to accommodate your needs and packing them into boxes if needed

Long queue but super worth doing it! It took me over 40mins to do it. But the pinnacle cakes are the best ones!! I think it's a must try place. Definitely people wouldn't queue if it wasn't good. They have plenty of other options. Try it all!

Love their original pineapple cakes and cranberry pineapple cakes. Nougat green onion crackers are so yummy, but it was out when I was there. Mochi cake sold out fast too. Chia Te is the must go place when you are in taipei.

Depends on the snacks you want to buy, you may have to come early. If you want to buy Sun cake (太阳饼) and Wife biscuit (老婆饼), you have to come as early as 8.30am to queue. We came at 12.30pm on the first day, and both were already sold out. So we had to go again the next morning. We reached at 8 15am and there was already a queue. Waited for abt 25mins to get into the store. Each person limited to 4 boxes of Sun cake and 2 boxes of Wife biscuit.
If you are buying other types of pastries, you can come at any time. On the first day we came, we queued for abt 15 mins from 12.30pm to get into the store.
The staff were helpful in answering questions and getting the items we wanted.

I arrived at 8:25 on a Saturday and waited around 45 minutes in order to enter the store. Be sure to take a piece of paper and pencil from the front to mark down your orders so you can get them directly at the front counter. Each box comes with a free corresponding bag, but if you are getting a lot and need a large bag to carry everything, it will be 10NTD

We bought boxed pineapple cakes, green onion nougat crackers, and Mochi pastries. They all held up well on the flight home in my checked bag and were so delicious even after a week. You can check the pricing on their website.

Individually we tried the sun cake, milk cake, and Mochi pastry. The Mochi contains soft Mochi and red bean, with a soft outer layer. The milk cake is flakey and the filling is a paste, while the sun cake is flakey and the filling is more chewy. All were delicious!

Crowded as always. Pineapple pastry taste good and rich in butter. However, most of the other biscuits and pastry (for example, mochi biscuit) are unavailable due to different reason.

Famous local bakery shop for its Pineapple cake. I went there after lunch and there are many tourists and local line up to buy. It took about 1h for the whole process from line up outside and line up
Inside the shop to pay the bill. The cake is delicious and affordable, must grab when you are in Taipei as a best gift to your friends and family.

Long queue, but the queues move quite fast. The staff helps to direct the customers around and guide foreigners in making selections.

The pastries are well documented, so not much comments on that.

Went on a Tuesday morning at 7.45am. There were 5 people in queue. Doors opened at 8.30am! Do not really need to browse the store if you already know what to get. Fill up the form and go straight to the cashier to tell her what else you want. Wife cake was not on the form so just tell the cashier lady directly how many you want.

Good news is they now limit to 4boxes per pax for their freshly baked cakes - wife cake, milk cake, sun cake. Not sure if any other cakes are part of this 4boxes limit. But regardless of how many pieces in a box, the max limit altogether is only 4 boxes. So I got 2boxes wife cakes and 2boxes sun cakes! I saw an old uncle being denied more than 4 boxes too. If you need more, just ask others to help or requeue within the store and go to a different cashier lady. Hehe.

Their wife cakes are freshly baked, they even packaged it on front of customers from baking tray to boxes. Wife/milk/sun cakes taste best when I toasted them at home. Crispy and flakey.

The nougat green onion crackers are a MUST BUY. I REGRET NOT GETTING MORE BOXES. SO good. Omg. Cracker was good oily and flavourfulll. Nougat was sweet and sticky but not too sweet and not too sticky. Just riiight.

As for the non pineapple pastry, hmm I think just stick to pineapple. Had the strawberry and didnt quit enjoy it. Honeydew one, was okkkk. Cranberry was nice. Dont get the longan if you dont like the dried longan taste.

Overall, worth the queue. Just go early in the morning so you dont waste time queue in the day as a tourist.

Update: my family LOVES the sa qi ma sold here! (Left in my picture; right side is from carrefour which sucked) Doesnt seem like chia te brand but wow it is so delicious!
