A breathtaking testament to Taiwan that sits proudly atop a hill. Location-wise, you could possibly find better, but it's more than compensated for with a free shuttle bus that runs between the hotel and an MRT station. But practicalities almost seem irrelevant when you get the immutable feeling of being steeped in history and grandeur.

I can't image paying double the price for another soulless, superficial "luxury" hotel chain. Luxury is not a polarity of austerity, it is a simply a feeling that is captured by some sort of inarticulable splendor. The Grand Hotel most deservedly earns the title of luxury.

very clean very fancy. we ate at the breakfast brunch and the food was fantastic. They have a good mix of western style food and Taiwanese food. The beef noodle soup was actually really good. Everything was scenic inside and out. They don't have dairy free creamer.

We were on a tour and stopped by to check out the oldest hotel in Taiwan. Its so pretty and everywhere you look is amazing with details! The restaurants we walked by looked so elegant and delicious.
What we saw in the lobby and museum-ish area were fantastic. We never knew this hotel existed and now are planning to book here for our next trip! We are excited to see the hotel in the spring!

The guided tour of the tounels is very nice but not really adapted for foreigners. It'd be nice if there is a guide who speaks English so that we get the real experience of a guided tour. Otherwise they give you a phone with headphones to listen to recordings about the different monuments.

Astounding visuals & one of a kind buffet dinner.

Thanks to our lab professor for giving us this joyful experience of dinner at the buffet of Grand Hotel Taipei, in a time of our end of semester and final exams. When we students have to particularly keep our mental health strong and study well for exams. This is also a motivation for all of us students that we all shall have this as a self earned life in our near future.

The visuals were astounding. The dragon fountain, particularly tells us when we drop coins of different currencies in this fountain, that hard earned currency is meant to grow.

Differently prepared seafood cold cuts and meat. My personal favourite was wasabi soy sauce eaten with cold crab, cold noodle, cold sea shells. Roast Wagyu short cuts.

Can’t wait to celebrate Chinese New Year which is in a theme of a Dragon this year and get to know this beautiful culture :)

The decorations are beautiful and lovely. I like how they had live piano and violinist playing in the main front entrance. Also the robot screen was fun to use. I got a bit confused about driving to the hotel so i parked my scooter on the side of the stairs and walked up the stairs on the side of the mountain to get to the hotel. The grass needs trimming and u need the mosquito repellent spray for the walking. I got lucky to see 2 weddings take place at the same time on top floor it was very unforgettable memories, emotional and beautiful to see such beautiful perfect weddings take place like a movie.

Beautiful hotel with so much character. It has 220,000 dragon depictions and beautiful red columns and lanterns. The first 2 nights, we stayed in a room without windows. The room was small and tastefully decorated with a pleasantly good size bathroom, all newly renovated and clean. We enjoyed our stay so much that we rebook and came back to stay for one more night at the end of our travels in Taiwan. We had a room with balcony. It was a beautiful and spacious room with city view. The bathroom is spacious and clean but the shower recess silicone needed redoing. It will make the room so much nicer. The buffet breakfast is amazing with huge selection of both western and Taiwanese cuisines. There are also some lovely walking tracks behind the hotel which we went exploring. The hotel has a free shuttle service to Yuanshan MRT station which leaves every 20 mins. We found this very helpful. So staying away from the city centre doesn’t matter to us as we can still get around very easily with access to this MRT station. There is also a direct public bus from Taoyuan airport to the Grand Hotel which is so convenient for about TWD $100 each. We will certainly come back and stay at The Grand Hotel again.

This grandiose Hotel definitely deserves five stars just for the fact that it's been around for 80 years, has 500 well kept rooms, and four exquisite restaurants, and is a major tourist attraction for locals and for people from abroad, as well as a center for family activities, weddings, conferences, or just and evening or two of getting away from the city. The swimming pool is absolutely marvelous, with crystal clear water, wonderful lawn chairs, and gorgeous views of both the hotel and the final approach leg for Songshan airport.

They did well maintaining the lustre of this place. Noticed that this was once a secluded hotel long ago, turn into a major tourist attraction. Nostalgic to re-visit a place where i stayed as a kid.

Very friendly service. Clean and luxurious rooms. The restaurants are excellent. Gorgeous view of Taipei 101 from our balcony. It was a bit crowded when we went because there was a conference being hosted, though, and we had to ask for hand soap.

The hotel was a grand old dame that was refined and aged gracefully. We stayed in the deluxe room with lots of space, a balcony and good amenities. The staff were kind professional and spoke good English. The highlight was the kids club, pool and club facilities, which can be accessed by the shuttle bus. We spent a whole afternoon at the kids club when it was raining and proceeded directly to the pool when it started to drizzle. Swimming with such a beautiful building in the background was an experience and ending it with a shower at the clubhouse with full facilities was great too! The club has classes such as complimentary yoga on Wednesday at 330pm too! There were also history tours for NT$250 or NT$200 for hotel guest. Missed both as I was not aware.
The breakfast had a really spread of western and eastern cuisines too from pastries, scones, Japanese, Tim Sum, stir fry etc.
All in all, we enjoyed our stay thoroughly and hope to be back!

1. Great view of downtown Taipei.
2. I heard that most of the accommodations in Taiwan are small, but this place is extremely large. It's wider than I imagined.
3. The taste of breakfast is not great. But there are various kinds.
4. There is a great swimming pool. It was marked 1.2 to 5 m deep on the web page. A swimming pool of 1.2 to 1.5 m deep is appropriate. But it's really 1.2 to 5.0 meters. It is also 50 meters long. They may hold a swimming competition.
5. It is far from the main tourist attraction. However, thanks to the hotel's shuttle bus and Taipei's excellent public transportation system, it is not inconvenient at all.
6. The staff are friendly. Sometimes the kindness of the luxury hotel staff is uncomfortable, but this place makes the guests very comfortable. I don't know how, but it was impressive.

Beautiful historic hotel with lots to discover within and around the premises for history fans.
The hotel is a bit far from the main Taipei city, but it’s very convenient to get to by taxi and shuttle buses.
Rooms are spacious with great views of Taipei city center.
Would definitely come back again to stay.

Came for conference. One of the staff on main reception today (2023 09 10) is attentive, accommodating and kind to facilitate us, she speaks fluent english and Japanese. Definitely worth to stop by and enjoy the interior design of this hotel.

My wife and I frequently visit this place but have never had the opportunity to stay in the hotel. We are particularly fond of their restaurants, which serve scrumptious Chinese cuisine. Beyond the high-quality food, the picturesque river view that the place affords makes our dining experiences even more enjoyable.

The location may be not in the center of Taipei. However, the location is definitely ideal for those people who wants to visit old temple and palace which are not far away from this hotel (by using public transport).
Not to mention, this hotel very charming as you can see that this hotel is traditional building and it has a history of hosting guests of important people around the world.
I enjoyed strolling around the ground and 1st floor of hotel, they have dining area and tea/coffe area to enjoy Asian high tea style.
Many people visit this hotel due to beautiful yet impressive interior inside and out.
Also there are small shops for you to buy some jades, statues, etc.
I did had a lovely time staying in this hotel all in all and I definitely recommend to stay here at least once.

Classic Taiwanese architecture at the finest from 1952. It has seen much of the history and glory of taiwan. There is a tour for the hotel along with its hidden tunnel and escape paths for the president and vips. The hotel is known for their architecture and sculpture of dragons. Their club house and swimming pool require transport from the main building.

Best place to see the landscape of Taipei city, from the enormous balcony, keep in mind, the hotel is a legacy of Taipei, don’t expect flashy fashion, once you get over that, enjoy excellent service and food
