Came here as it is listed under the Michelin Guide. They are known for their beef soup noodles, which come in a flavourful broth with herbal notes. The handmade noodles had really nice texture, with just the right amount of chewiness. Portions were generous too. Beef was marinated to perfection and very tender.

The dumplings were decent, skin on the thicker side, but the filling was well marinated.

Overall, a nice place for beef noodles, recommended!

Beef noodles great! It has four chunks of beef and the noodles have a very good texture and the soup tastes great! I also order a sour spicy soup but it was average, not spicy or sour though.
Highly recommend the beef noodles, I think it’s one of the best beef noodles in Taipei.

Hidden in a corner at level B1 if Wan Nian Lou. Order the beef soup, flavourful broth and the beef was tender. It was so good that I finished every drop of soup. There was already some crowd when I arrived. A little pricey though, 4 pieces of beef and soup for NT170.

Michelin BIB Gourmand!
Great beef noodle. Cash Only. Restaurant is on B1 floor.

Quite difficult to find the restaurant. Find the way to enter the building (mall) and take escalator to B1 floor. The restaurant is on one corner of the building.

English menu available. Staff speaks English. Not high price.

Tasty Home-made fresh noodle with tendor beef.
Tasty dumpling.

Anything hand made is really good like the dumpling skins and noodles. Beef soup is rich and tasty, acceptable even for someone like me who prefers it light. A keeper!

Delicious and satisfying meal!

Soup was quite light and lacked the depth that I normally prefer but still delicious!

Quite generous with the amount of beef they give with the noodles.

A variety of side dishes that you can self-serve from the fridge yourself.

A must try in Taipei!!
It was one of the Michelin-approved niu rou mian restaurants so we gave this one a go and did NOT regret it. The store is in B1 underground in some kind of mall-ish building.
We tried both kuan (thick) and xian(thin) noodles, and kuan mian was definitely the winner.
The meat MELTS in your mouth and everything is just so flavourful. We tried zhajiangmian (the chinese version of korean jajangmyun) and it was SOOO GOOD. And so were the pork dumplings. Amazing.
I also recommend the side dishes, they’re self-served (you need to pick out what u want from the fridge) and $40ntd each. I recommend the bean sprouts and cucumbers.
Overall, it was super affordable and delicious. 10/10 would go back!!

It’s a bit hard to find the place. But the beef noodle is the best ever I had in my life. They have large variety of sauces and free flow coriander and spring onion. Really heaven. U feel the place is old and not at super top hygiene.
The service person also let u be to serve yourself and don’t bothered us much, which is the best for me, I don’t like to be bothered by service people. They give their service and always available when u need order and very fast, that’s it.

definitely a must-visit if you are in the area - heck, if you are in taipei too. knife-cut noodles (刀削面) as they're called, with melt-in-your-mouth beef that goes so well with their soup.. it comes in either small or big bowls - frankly speaking small ones should suffice, but big bowls would surely satisfy if you are looking for a very full meal. Dumplings are made well too, the skin is not too thick either and the proportion between the dumpling skin and the meat is just right. spicy and sour soup with dumplings also go well somehow too!

the restaurant accepts only cash so do be prepared. service is prompt and quick too.

Location is quite hard to find, on the B1 floor, no.15. Short queue, just wait less than 10minutes. Price is okay, not expensive. The homemade noodles is a little bit thick, but the beef and soup are amazing. Must go place

Wow the best beef noodle soup I’ve ever had. It’s in the basement of a nondescript building, super easy to miss. Order was fast. The only thing I didn’t see until I left was the condiment station.

Difficult to find - go to B1 of the mini mall and walk around to find it tucked away in a corner (shop 15). Great chew to the freshly made noodles however! Was only $90 for noodles in hot and sour soup, and $45 for five pork dumplings. Help yourself to a range of sauces. Cash only!

📍Quick note: Location is at B1! Find the staircase at side of building that leads you down to the basement. Its quite hard to find, I suggest to get guidance from any of the other shop owners/ security guards

One of the best beef noodles I’ve tried in Taipei! This place feels very authentic

The handmade noodles are worth going for if you like noodles - I’d visit for this reason alone!

Order their signature beef soup noodle. I like the soup, and they cut their noodle about a belt size to increase the texture . However, their soup is not spicy at all after you add the chilli oil. Price is affordable compared to those branded noodle shops. Loction are at B1 of building.

Fantastic beef noodles. The soup is lighter than others in Taipei but that makes it easier to eat and to eat more of! A selection of cuts of meat including tendons… make sure to grab some pickled veges and butter chilly sauce from the front which are excellent condiments. Simple comfort food!

Difficult to find but it’s worth the search.
Staff are friendly and accommodating to tourists.
Lines move quickly and food comes out quick.

I had the beef noodles and pork dumplings. Both were equally delicious!

This handmade noodle is very good. A lot variety of toppings, mostly beef and organs, the dumpling is also good.

A delicious bowl of noodles that's very hard not to like, if not love! These were simple, delicious and twice as good with their spicy sauce. This place was quite hard to find so be sure to go straight to basement 1 in this building and walk around the array of food!

As mentioned by other reviewers, this shop is located in Wan Nian Building (萬年商業大樓). If you are coming from Ximen metro station exit 6, just turn right and go into Ximending Walking District. You will see H&M on your left. Keep going until you reach a junction where Xing Fu Tang is on your right, then turn left into Emei Street. Keep going until you reach a traffic light. In front of you should be Wan Nian Building on the left, and Adidas on the right. Cross the road, turn left, and you will soon see an entrance into Wan Nian Building on your right. Go in, take the escalator to basement, and that's where all the restaurants in this building are located. The signs to Lao Shandong Beef Noodles are well-marked. Even if you see a short queue outside, just pop in and ask if there is a table available for your number of diners.

The four of us ordered two small bowls of half-tendon half-meat beef noodles (NTD190 each), one bowl of zhajiangmian (noodles with soybean paste, because my mum does not eat beef, NTD90), 10 pork+chives dumplings (NTD90), and two side dishes (self-service from the fridge beside payment counter, NTD70 each). We were all full from this meal, I suppose it would take a big appetite to finish the big bowl, as even the small bowl was quite substantial.

The noodles were good, if you are from Singapore or Malaysia, you will be familiar with a type of hand torn noodle called "mee hoon kueh"; the Lao Shandong noodle is similar to that. The meat and tendon were both very tender. My wife loved the broth while for me not so much, so whether the broth is nice or not will be subject to your preference.

The bean paste noodle was tasty too, as were the dumplings and side dishes. Please try the tofu and century egg combination if you have never tried it before. Highly recommended if you like beef noodles and are in the vicinity.

I loved the dry beef noodles! The noodles are handmade so they have a good thick and chewy texture to them, and the sauce is delicious. My husband didn't like the soupy beef noodles as much though, the broth was not as good as some other places.
