Their almond latte is superb. And the boss hospitality is awesome. End up talking and he recommends me rare and local tourist site while sharing some snacks. The shop atmosphere is also very nice, like rustic building which suitable for taking Instagram photos. Really recommending this place. Especially for solo traveller.

Okay, it was last year that I visited this place. But it was the single most memorable coffee shop I visited in Taiwan. The ambience was that of the ideal Bobemian cafe, one such as one might have expected to find in Paris in the 50’s. One that greets each customer on his or her own terms, where writers, artists and musicians linger for hours discussing the things that these people discuss. A place where the owner is something of a “member” more than a business owner. In short, a place where people feel like they can live, and be alive.

Oh, and I forgot… It also has excellent coffee and is fun to look at the antique decor which feels like it has lived in this place since time immemorial.

Perhaps one of the nicest coffee shops I’ve been in any place in the world.

Okay, y’all talking about how great the coffee is are missing the afternoon bar scene. We arrived after 6pm and ordered a whiskey sour, Kombucha, and strawberry juice, which were all out, and so we drank what the owner gave us (it was amazing). The spot seems to be a gathering place of fun local personalities after dark. While there, we befriended a chill cat on a day out, a retired ojisan from Japan that kindly invited us to sit next to him and spoke to us in Japanese (because we couldn’t speak Mandarin), and the mysterious owner who was barefoot and shared with us the wonderful world of vegan food in Tainan using google translate. At one point the owner even left the shop with ojisan, probably to get him home safely, like a scene of a movie. A beautiful fever dream.

Suffice to say, it was the best experience we’ve had in Taiwan. 🇹🇼❤

A coffee enthusiast owner runs the place, which is tucked away in a little alleyway opposite Yongle Market. We spent a few quiet hours here on a Saturday morning and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good (and affordable) cuppa while in Tainan😊

The owner asked about our food and coffee preferences before recommending the type of beans to try. We had the Guatemalan siphon coffee - brewed perfectly! We wanted to observe how the coffee was made, and he kindly brought all the equipment up front and brewed it at our table while explaining the technique involved.

Also ordered a cappuccino topped with cinnamon powder. Well executed too!

Beautiful cafe, owner has such a nice vibe, wish we could speak the same language to talk more!

The kombucha was delicious, good for those who want a nice intro into kombucha!

cafe perfection. the surroundings are visual poetry, evoking old Tainan. the owner William is a wise soul & warm teacher, happy to chat about coffee & its politics, the Taiwanese project, and the beauty of our native tongue. he’s passionate about coffee—tell him what you like & he’ll prepare the perfect cup with his siphon maker. grateful to have found this spot ☕✨

Has an authentic nostalgic vibe which we can only find in tainan. Super chill, impressive hospitality, great location. Enjoy both hand drop filter and latte. Love the combo with traditional dessert. As someone who grow up in Tainan this is the cafe I would recommend frds who come over visiting.

A very nice and cozy coffee shop. Small but full of essences of early Taiwan. Coffee is also good and price very affordable. Would recommend to come after delicious food nearby.

The best coffe shop in Tainan with an absolutely unique style. Good value and a great location. There is one thing which makes this place exceptional tho. The barista. He is incredible. Very knowledgeable, helpful, generous, energetic and last but not least he knows his coffee! You are the best, William! :)

Vibes for days. Super cosy little nook, great siphon coffee, the owner is a sweet old soul. They have a variety of beans to choose from and you can sit and enjoy the making of a good cup of coffee.

Great places to take a break during your day and relax a little. And if you speak Mandarin or Taiwanese, talk to the owner about life, language, and culture!

Fantastic little gem hidden away from Main Street. The decor gives a vintage Taiwan vibe and the owner is super friendly. The coffee is quite good and the is relaxing. Highly recommended!

One of the coolest cafes and the most hospitable owner I've ever seen in Taiwan. A vintage coffee house where you can just relax, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. It has a magical vibe. It's very easy to talk to people here.
