Yongkang Street is also one of the must-visit spots to visit, where you can taste delicious food, look around featured stores for souvenirs, or hang out at the cafe with friends.
Take Red Line (Tamsui – Xinyi Line) or Orange Line (Zhonghe – Xinlu Line) to the Dongmen Station, Exit No.5.

If you mention the most famous Taiwanese food, most of the people will say “XiaoLongBao” .Din Tai Fung” is widely known for their “XiaoLongBao”, the original shop is located next to Yongkang Street, people always make a line to taste the amazing dumpling with 18 folds delicate skin and juicy filling, once you try it, you will know how they take the signature dishes so seriously. Although XiaoLongBao is the most popular dish of Din Tai Fung, they also have various kinds of cuisine, favorite dishes like “Braised Beef Noodle Soup“, “House Steamed Chicken Soup“, “Spicy Shrimp “, “Green Squash and Shrimp Xiaolongbao“, all of the dishes are so delicious that I entertain my foreign guests here every time.
Dongmen Market is not only a busy traditional market but there has plenty of authentic Taiwanese snacks hidden inside the market.

Very friendly local business owner and workers. The street are clean. And a lot of tourist. To me, I took only two hours to stroll the street and nearby, which include shopping and snacking.

Where dining is convenient. By dining, I mean going to a restaurant and sit down while, well, dining. Not the night market type where there's no space to relax.
Restaurants offer a wide variety of food, from shaved ice to ramen to German cuisine to traditional Taiwanese food.
Other shopping options include fruit, a bookstore, supermarket besides the regular clothing and apparels.
Recommend as the first couple stops to visit in Taiwan, for it's a good mix of foreign style and traditional Taiwanese. Good for starters.

Multiple visits to Yongkang and I still find something new that I love (and/or revisit something old that I love). I come here when I want scallion pancake (it's the one with the really long line) or a cool hipster coffee place to chill and get some work done, or to find small handicraft that I really want. Yongkang is very popular with tourists, so don't be deterred if at first it seems crowded or has too much cheap brickabrack. Walk in a few blocks or walk down an alley coming off it and you'll find the charm. If you have kids, bring them in the cool part of the day and join in at the playground.

great street, it has always been one of Taipei's most popular attractions, whether it is shopping, monuments, friends, or tasting snacks, buying gifts, etc., the Yongkang business district always brings you a surprise.

I love this street. It is filled with interesting stores. It is best to walk along this street from the back of the NTNU (National Taiwan Normal University) all the way to Dongmen Station MRT exit #5 or vice versa. Doing just this street up and down takes about 3+ hours. You will find excellent places to eat and to shop from clothes to gadgets to Taipei's famous teas and pineapple cakes. A must do. It is one of my favourite shopping excursions.
