The hostess was really welcoming, energetic and pleasant to chat with throughout our stay. She asked us if we needed any recommendations around Taroko Park which we did given our time constraints - she shared a lot of details that made our life easier the next day.

The room itself was very spacious and clean. The common area was filled with books and mangas to read and a small area for kids.

Breakfast was refreshing. They can also prepare it to-go (instead of dine-in) if you start your day early and need something on the road.

Overall, I would recommend this place to those planning to visit Taroko National Park.

My husband and I stayed at this outrageous place for 3 nights and we could not have been more lucky.

The rooms are very spacious filled with fresh air since you can open windows to both sides. Of course windows are covered with mosquito shades.
No need to say that everything is extremely clean. We slept very well.

The place is located so close to the entrance of Taroko that you easily arrive there, before the crowd from Hualien will be there. Which gives you the possibility to enjoy the scenery just by yourself.

Above all this, the host, Sophia, is an angel. You can tell that she loves what she is doing: giving you a great time!
We are unbelievably thankful for your help, the information and the nice talks. Stay well and all the best to you and your family, Sophia

A peaceful place to stay with wonderful hosts. We loved the tasty and beautifully presented breakfasts. The shower is the best- better than ours at home. Everything is lovingly maintained and care taken for guests. Sophia would even drive us to dinner and pick us up. The only downside for us is the rooster that started crowing at 5:30am and kept going. It can be blocked with ear plugs though! Outstanding experience here.

A must for anyone going to Taroko National Park. The homestay is in direct proximity to the Taroko Park entrance (5 min by car). It is advisable to have a car or motorcycle as there is free parking. The owners are incredibly accommodating and hearty. The breakfast was perfect to start a healthy day! Futon beds were very comfortable no need to worry. 5/5 would stay again!

The room is clean and quiet at night. The owners are friendly and helpful. The location is near the entrance of national park while only 5mins drive to the township where there are family mart, restaurants etc.

A wonderful experience. The rooms were perfect, service just amazing. Sofia and her family are so wonderfully friendly, helpful and welcoming. They recommended local food places, walks, and other things to see. They gave us some local guide books to use while we were there.
The breakfast and coffee in the morning were both delicious. I would definitely stay here again as a base to explore Taroko and surrounds.

Everything about this B&B is absolutely perfect. The hospitality was exceptional; Sophia and her family are some of the nicest human beings I've ever met!

I was travelling with my brother, and Sophia repeatedly floored us with her generosity and thoughtfulness. The location is perfect for visiting Taroko Gorge, the room was spacious and comfortable, and the breakfasts were tasty (especially the fresh fruit)! Be a savvy traveler and stay here :)

Amazing bed and breakfast in Hualien run by the friendliest people around. Spacious, clean rooms with comfortable beds. The property has a handful of friendly outdoor cats/kittens and some chickens. Whether traveling as a couple, a family or even solo, this bed and breakfast is a perfect place to stay.

We have travelled extensively all over the world and now in Taiwan and the Taroko area. Sophia at Mountain Dream B&B is the best host we have EVER had. The care and service we received here is totally unmatched by any of the other hotels, AirBnBs, ryokans, or other bed and breakfasts we have experienced.

Mountain Dream is located just across the river from the bustling center of Taroko and therefore enjoys both closer access to Taroko Gorge itself and the peacefulness of being almost in the woods. The property is also home to chickens and a very affectionate outdoor cat, so you will likely find yourself enjoying breakfast to a steady stream of meowing from the window and roosters crowing. Every morning Sophia made sure we had a hearty serving of food and hot beverages waiting for us, at whatever time we chose. They easily accommodated my dietary restrictions of vegetarianism and lactose intolerance.

Sophia was always available to drive us over to a 7/11 for supplies or to the visitor center to catch our first bus of the day, and she was constantly chauffeuring us around town to drop us off at or pick us up from great dinner spots. We never needed a taxi or had to walk to get into the park. Other B&Bs in the area, including the one we stayed at right next door, will just offer bikes to borrow, which are great but also challenging because the area is hilly (and also a little dangerous given they don't come with helmets). We never got the chance to ask about bikes at Mountain Dream because Sophia was always right there with the car, ready to get us on our way for the day. She also helped us plan our routes and navigate the bus system so we could be fully independent when we got into the gorge. She had GREAT recommendations for unique local food and for some really intense, gorgeous, off-the-beaten-path hikes we never would have known to explore otherwise.

The rooms are immaculately clean. This I can doubly confirm after accidentally dropping some things behind a piece of furniture and needing to crawl around under a table on the (ridiculously spotless) floor to get them! The bathroom and shower were similarly lovely with great water pressure and a great supply of hot water. Good quality shampoo, soap, and bath and hand towels were provided. They'll also clean your room for you every day while you're out if you want, although we never felt this was necessary.

Beds are firmly comfortable with great fluffy pillows and comforters. A hot water heater and pitcher for water are both provided in the room, along with coffee, tea, and mugs, so you can always have a steady supply of filtered drinking water if you refill in the inn's dining room. The bedroom was equipped with both a new electric heater and a modern AC unit but we didn't need to turn on either. Temperature was perfect here in late December. The windows all have screens, so we left them open when it was raining and listened to the rain fall outside in this quiet, beautiful place.

We had been traveling around Taiwan for weeks leading up to the trip to Taroko, and we were really craving unpaved mountain paths (all the other trails we found in Taiwan were very accessible but that meant they also weren't very wild), a comfortable place to recuperate from our travels (some AirBnBs we had recently stayed in felt more like hostels than bed and breakfasts, and we barely unpacked while staying in them), and local tribal food (we had eaten so much traditional Taiwanese food by this point that we were looking for something new). At Mountain Dream, we got all of that and more.

At one point we asked about the best way to do laundry while there, as we were traveling light and needed to wash clothes every few days. Sophia had us put them in a basket and then did all our laundry FOR us. Neither this nor any of the driving us around town incurred any extra cost.

We really, really loved our stay here. It was simultaneously the most active, beautiful, and relaxing part of our whole extended trip!

Was there recently for a night stay. Owner and family were really helpful, friendly and offered to bring us to and fro for our tattoo visit. Me and my friends also borrowed their bicycles for some late night cycling without any problems. Had loads of fun. Have to say too that their homemade breakfast is one of the best I've ever tasted! Will not hesitate to come back there again.

We were made to feel welcome right from when Sophia picked us up from Xincheng station. The hospitality shown by the hosts was just amazing. We were dropped off and picked up from Taroko Gorge when needed. Sophia also recommended places to eat in town.

Our room was spacious and tidy with two double beds.

Giving this place 5 stars doesn't do it justice. It's closeness to Taroko Gorge makes it the perfect place to stay.

Very helpful and friendly hosts who really look after you well. We have already been driven to and from our walk start points and to the shops for provisions. And what a location. Breakfast is very good with very fresh food. We have also been helped with washing clothes which is welcome in such humid weather. An all round cracker place to stay, and so very close to the Taroko Gorge.

It's like being with a family, rather than a hotel. Sophia and her family are so friendly and want to go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Simple and comfortable accommodation, amazing breakfasts, kettles in room, powerful and hot showers. Everything you need. The name of this place in English is "Taroko Mountain Dream Homestay B&B" but you'll need to look for the name in Chinese on the street when you arrive. Luckily this Google location is very accurate so that helps.
