The Original Sao Dou Hua

The cafe is located at a corner at the end of the street and next to a small park. Cafe itself is small and cosy with only a few tables and some bar counter seating. I had warm bean curd in ginger soup with added red beans and taro balls. The bean curd is soft and silky and the ginger soup sweetened with brown sugar(?) isn’t overly sweet. I like the taro balls as they are soft and slightly chewy. Whilst I really loved the ginger soup, I wished there was more bean curd because it was really good. I also ordered the hot red bean with taro paste. Again it was very well cooked and fragrant, not overly sweet too.

I loved the bean curd so much that I went again the following day to have the exact same thing before I left Taipei 😋

As the place is small, be prepared to share tables when it gets crowded. I got there as soon as the cafe was opened so we were the first customers and there was nobody yet 😊

A small quaint traditional dessert shop. They serve mainly dessert soft tofu. We ordered a red bean and peanut flavor. Both were really good. Not too sweet and fresh tasting.

Traditional Taiwanese sweets. Can choose different toppings on it. The most special thing is putting fresh fruits, such as mango, watermelon, banana, as toppings. It tastes like mixture of mango ice with 豆花. Tasty. The price is decent. Highly recommended.

Probably the best tofu pudding I have ever tried, we tried the mango one, that’s really yummy, the mango is really sweet, and the tofu pudding is amazing, lovely small dessert shop with valuable price and friendly staff, the best place in the Taipei city downtown to have some refreshments

Cute little dessert spot. They have a unique selection of douhua (tofu pudding) desserts. Their strawberry one is to die for! Must go try!

A precious place to keep in the favourites spots when in Taipei. The family owned tiny venue is a line of refreshing and tasty desserts served by the nicest ladies.
Perfect detour when shopping in the area 😉

A great dessert shop selling fruit and tofu with ice. The shop has seating but is very small. If you can't get a seat you can order takeaway instead.

Absolutely my favorite 豆花 douhua go-to place! The tofu pudding has a slight charcoal flavor with a really creamy texture. My favorite is the mango watermelon one..might sound strange but it’s the best!

Tiny space but really tasty. Warm or cold soybean tofu is great. Sesame tofu was nice too, can try at winter time.

Menu has like 5 things. I tried the watermelon mango one it was pretty good! There's a 45 NT minimum per person (I don't know if they actually enforce it) the place is quite small 2-3 tables only.

This place is absolutely delicious. Their menu is simple so you won't have trouble ordering. They have probably 1 to 3 items in the menu depending on the season. A cozy little shop that I'll definitely plan on revisiting.

Cold tofu dessert with sheets of ice ginger syrup and peanuts. Can get hot too.
