Nice visit to the temple taking the Maokong Gondola. The Zhi Nan Temple was under renovation during our visit. Clear sunny day and we could see the Taipei landscape and 101 Tower in the background. Serene and calming with a relaxing cool breeze blowing our way tiwards the mountain top. Nice way to end our day trip.

Best to experience riding the Maokong Gondola and alight at Zhinan Temple Station to access this temple
located at the foot of Zhishan mountain in Wenshan District, Taipei. Chih Nan Temple is dedicated to the Taoist immortal Lu Tung-pin, better known as "Xiangong" or "Luzu" who loved poetry and books. The place offers wonderful nature and the view of gondolas travelling from one station to the other. A pleasant time for some self reflections when you're in this place. Would love to go back someday.

temple with spectacular views of Taipei.

the temple is dedicated to Lu Dongbin, one of the Eight Immortals in Taoist mythology. there are two statues of him, one from China made of jade and another one made in Taiwan. it is interesting to see how different the statues look, despite supposedly being depictions of the same deity!

Maybe the biggest Taoism temple in north Taiwan. Can enjoy the atmosphere of local religion and traditions here. Also the Maokong gondola and mountain trail are nearby are really recommended for tourists.

Beautiful temple, especially at night when all of the lanterns are on and no one is around. Feels very serene.

Here you can see the whole Taipei scenery. You can get here by taking a bus(no. 530 ) ,get off at terminal stop (Chih Nan Temple ). There is an old street around here, some vendors who sell things along the old street. Go through the street to visit temples. You also can take MRT and then take a Maokong cable car to get here .

Gorgeous temple in the mountains. Accessible by the Gondola close to Taipei Zoo MRT station - or 12000 steps uphill. But the view is worth the trip definitely. At the moment it’s under construction which was a bit disappointing. But inside it was beautiful and very peaceful. I didn’t regret doing the trip.

Amazing temple on top of the hill. I suggest you do the 1000 stairs climb from the bottom, and then take Maokong gondola down.

The temple is amazing, the walk up there is mesmerizing. It's out of a fairytale. Definitely worth a visit. Takes about 30 minutes from the bottom to the temple.

Very nice place, there are stairs needed to be climbed for around 30-40minutes. Once you reach at the temple you can walk around relax and enjoy the sunset. There are frequent buses also and you can always take gondola to go around other mountains too.

Worthwhile to visit for its very traditional style of Taiwan's folklore Taoism. Rich resources for a further try to understand the Chinese religious beliefs of Taoism. A walk in the mountains leads you to a retreat away from the congested Taipei City. However, an ancient folk tale warns unmarried couples to visit. Since the god worshipped there strictly examines the flaws of romantic relationships.

To get to the Zhinan (Chih Nan) Temple, you need to take the Maokong Gondola (cable car) from the station adjacent to the Taipei Zoo MRT station which is situated on the MRT Brown Line.
The is the stop just before you reach the final Goldola station at Maokong.
You could take the stop on your way back to Taipei, as my wife and I did. We got off at the Zhinan Temple station on our way back from Maokong, after having visited the area, having enjoyed lunch with panoramic views and also some traditional tea at one of Maokong’s many tea houses. The temple is but a short walk from the Zhinan Temple station stop. It is a very peaceful place with excellent views of the surrounding lush green hills.
Some beautiful photo opportunities are available from the red-roofed walkway that starts at the temple and winds itself around the side of the hill.
Worth the short but very picturesque stopover.

Nice temple that is accessible by gondola(cable car) or by walking. Several temples, shrines, and great views of the city. Also a number of good hiking trails.
