I came this evening to buy something for my family in Italy ( Rome ).

The owner of the shop was very friendly, he spokes well english. Prices are right, there is something expensive and something chip so you find what you want.

Recomended because in Istanbul sultanahmet there are only turistic shop...this shop was more authentic than the others .

See you next time in Istanbul.

Best regards from Italy.

I reside in Karachi, Pakistan. My brother recently visited Istanbol and brought a beautiful piece of and painted calligraphy on a leaf. It is extremely intricate and carefully done work of art. So happy to have it. Will definitely visit this outlet whenever I will visit Istanbol.

Many interesting maps and documents, but for some incomprehensible reason the owner has decided to pad his collection with museum prints of Indian miniatures that have been pasted on to random pages torn out of an old edition of Allama Iqbal's Urdu poetry collection. The two items have no meaningful connection and many of the combinations are absolutely hilarious juxtapositions of verses from the poem "shikwah" with scenes of harem beauties and bathing parties (neither item is really "antique"..allama's book being from the early 20th century and the miniatures being the sort you can buy in Lahore's museum shop). He has also gone ahead and framed random pages from the same Allama Iqbal book into good looking frames...if one cannot read Urdu/Persian, one can imagine these are antique Turkish manuscripts, but otherwise their significance escapes me. When I pointed to these and shared a laugh with my wife the owner became rather irritable...and when i tried to take a picture, he asked us to leave. Makes one think, are the other "antique manuscripts" equally fake?

The owner was so rude. We were looking at the art outside the store and intending to buy. He came out clearly not wanting to sell to us, shouted at us and told us he was closed (though timings on the door said open) slammed the door shut and locked it. Not the best way to run a business! Given previous reviews not sure why he’s allowed to carry on in that way giving tourists a bad view of Istanbul

Old man in the shop needs to know how greet people and not to push someone to buy. A class of politeness and rage management could be of use also. Don't visit and don't buy.

By the far the most unpleasant experience I’ve had going into a shop anywhere and spending 5 minutes. I was admiring a few prints and asked the owner (I presume) if it was safe to transport by rolling the prints.

He all but yelled at us that we weren’t “real customers” because if we were, we wouldn’t ask about packaging before looking and purchasing something first. He then told us “nothing is made in China” and asked my husband if he’s Indian or Pakistani (he’s not either). He then told us “not real customers, goodbye”. The conversation direction and behavior insinuated racism, unfounded elitism, and overall was unpleasant. Do yourself a favor and visit many of the other beautiful antique shops in this city and don’t support this business.
