Best rug store in Istanbul!! For more than 20 years I have known about Troy Rug Store as my sister lived in Istanbul and bought many rugs from owner Mustafa. When I visited her we went to him for our purchases.. He explained in detail about various styles and designs of rugs and his pricing is very fair.. We were delighted with our rug purchases!! This past year I saw another rug from his Facebook page and I purchased it because I have complete trust in this shop owner. The transaction was handled very easily through my local bank. It was shipped on time and I received my beautiful rug in perfect condition. I highly recommend doing business with Troy Rug Store in person and online.

My wife and I traveled to Istanbul in 2015, taking in the beauty and wonder of that amazing city. During our daily trip through the grand bazaar I became fixated on the beautiful rugs and was determined to buy one before we left. Every shop we visited was full of pushy rug dealers that were more interested in a quick sale then getting us what we wanted. We stumbled across Troy Rug Store after lunch one day and met the owner, Mustafa, the nicest person we’d met in Istanbul. He took the time to go through his inventory and even brought us to his second location until we found exactly what we wanted. He was able to ship it to us in the States for a very reasonable price and to this day it is one of our prize possessions from all of our travels abroad. Thank you Mustafa!

I always visit this shop when I visit Istanbul and have purchased several rugs and and killims from Mustapha. He is most helpful and knowledgeable and an hour spent chatting in his shop and drinking cay is one the pleasures of coming to this great city. In my opinion Troy Rug Store is the best carpet shop here! I have no hesitation in highly recommending this shop.

When I visited Istanbul I went to many rug stores. Mustafa at Troy Rug Store welcomed me kindly with a cup of tea and wonderful conversation. We are extremely chuffed with our purchase today. The owner, Mustafa, is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to all things rugs and kilims, but most importantly, a honest man. If you’re ever thinking of purchasing a treasured piece, do pay him a visit.

I live in Istanbul and this is my preferred carpet shop. I bring all my guests. The owner is patient and never pushy. Sometimes we buy sometimes we don’t but they are happy to spend as much time as we need to make a decision. The one in the photo is the carpet my mom purchased and she loves it!

We visit Istanbul every year and always stop in to see Mustafa. It's so relaxing talking to him, having tea, looking at high quality carpets, and hearing his latest stories about the cats and dogs he cares for. We think of him every time we look at the beautiful Salt Bag we purchased from him.

Troy's rugs is the best in Istanbul. Very professional and friendly. I am still sending friends here even after 13 years. My rugs make my house feel exotic and colourful. We loved the owner so much my artist husband drew a picture of him as a gift. He is a kind man with a gentle heart. He loves cats as much as we do. I recommend this shop to be the best quality and service.

Excellent rug store, we visited upon recommendation and had a great experience. We wanted to make sure we were buying an authentic rug, the guy was courteous and not pushy at all and helped us to find a perfect one for our style and budget!

We went to several rug shops in Istanbul. This was by far the most enjoyable experience and where we found some beautiful rugs, which seemed unique (didn’t see at other places). Mustafa was calm, kind, informative, and no pressure BS; he actually seemed like a great human. We didn’t end up buying a rug given our budget. I strongly recommend if you’re in the market. (Save yourself the pain!)

I've bought 5 rugs from Mustafa and Hakverdi "Ferdy" at the Troy Rug store over the years. Mustafa is passionate about his craft and has a great selection of pieces. One of the nicest people in the business and a serious commitment to helping customers find their dream purchase without any of the shabby pressure selling that blights the industry. If you are looking to buy a carpet in Istanbul you should definitely add this place to your itinerary.

My time with Mustafa at Troy Rug Store was a highlight of my fabulous visit to Istanbul. I came home with several precious pieces at a great price (with no pressure to buy anything), and made a new friend. I am quite disturbed by recent negative reviews by Camille and Carlos, and suspicious of their authenticity. This is NOT the Troy Rug Store I know and love. I highly recommend Mustafa and his shop, and look forward visiting again someday.

I met Mustafa on my 1st visit to Istanbul although I didn't buy from him on that trip he left me with the impression that he was a very honest person and I spent many pleasant hours talking with him.
I returned 2 years later and on that trip I did purchase from Troy Rug Store with my wife in attendance this time. Mustafa was amazing and extremely helpful. Would recommend Troy Rug Store over any of the other pushy vendors around.At no time were we persuaded to buy and Mustafa was only Happy to talk and make friends.

An afternoon of tea with Mustafa has been the highlight of each of our three visits to Istanbul. Yes, we bought beautiful rugs, too, but the purchase was almost incidental. He’s a wonderful guy, and he’s taught his staff to be as cordial and helpful. Mustafa has come through for us every time. And he’s the only shop in town with a Wisconsin Badgers cap on display.

Mustafa’s rug store is amazing. We bought a beautiful runner for our wine cellar, which was fairly priced and delivered just as he said it would be. Could not be happier with the product and service. He was helpful, charming, honest and fair. Highly recommend him.

Mustafa is the best one could ask for! He can help you find great deals of what you need (or didn’t even know you needed 😂) while teaching you the history of tapestry and drinking apple tea. Do pay him a visit.

My favorite carpet shop and friend in Istanbul. We have been visiting over 20 years and start each day with a tea with Mustafa. How many carpets have we bought? Maybe 20? Maybe more. We recommend this shop to anyone looking for a carpet, or just a friendly chat.

Troy Rugs was recommended to me because I didn’t want to be pressured to buy a rug and was looking for a high quality memento to take home. That was such a great recommendation and one I have shared now for 9 years.

When I visited Mustafa’s beautiful store, I was greeted with hospitality (from him and the cats he takes care of!), and treated with respect. His approach was helpful, not a high-pressured sales job that we hear about often in these rug shops. I couldn’t find anything that worked for the area of my home at first and it was not an issue. Mustafa didn’t pressure me! I went back a second time and finally found a lovely hand-made camel bag and my friend bought a prayer rug. We have both been delighted with them!

The big bonus from that wonderful experience are that I made a friend in Mustafa. He stays in touch with his customers and is such a lovely, kind man! I continue to recommend visitors and friends to Troy Rugs, an ethical, professional seller of beautiful tapestries, rugs and woven items.
