[Information about documents and process for tourist visa]

Please carefully read the information about required documents on the site before going to embassy. That’s the most important step to be well prepared!

All the process takes about a week for us:
- document preparation (1 day)
- book the appointment (10 mins)
- Visiting of Thai Royal embassy (half a day day, flight from Istanbul to Ankara and back)
- Waiting (3 days)
- Delivery to Istanbul (2-3 days)

You can apply ONLY in person in Ankara.
You MUST book the appointment before the visit.

For tourist visa you need:
- copy of passport
- Copy of kimlik (if you live in Turkey)
- Airplane tickets
- Hotel bookings for the whole period
- Bank statement for the last 6 months + at least $800 on account (for single tourist visa)
- Visa fee (in $ cash, they DON’T accept card or Turkish lira)
- Filled visa form from the site
- 2 photos 3,5 x 4,5 cm (size from application form, the site provides wrong information about 4x6cm photos, it’s not required)
- Any proof from your job or university (isn’t required for single entry tourist visa, but nice to have)

Before the Embassy you should book the appointment on the site for particular date and time.
Better to do it in advance before the documents preparation, there is a chance they won’t have slots on your dates.

On appointment date you should bring all the documents to the Embassy. Employees are really helpful and speak Turkish, English, Thai. Security guard allows me to enter the building with my girlfriend who needs the visa. We have only good experience despite negative comments here, no issues at all.
If you don’t have all the documents they will ask you to send them over email after the visit, but that WILL delay your visa.
Better to prepare in advance, even with the excess documents.

After visa processing you will receive confirmation latter on email, without info about rejection or approval. For me it takes 3 working days.
We live in Istanbul, consulate provides a delivery service by yurtiçi kargo located on the same gaziosmanpaşa street.
You should call them, send your request to email (gaziosmanpasa at ykacente dot com) and kargo will get and deliver your passport in 2-3 days.

If you have any questions you may ask by phone, email and Facebook.
However, I haven’t had a chance to reach them by phone (always is the robot), email reply takes 4 days. There is definitely the room for improvements.

İ had excellent service at the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara. They provided me with all the necessary information and compassion i needed to fill the papers fast and in time. Me and my child’s visas came out super fast and all went smoothly. Gratefull!

I applied for the new passport and before that I checked all the necessary documents and the staffs are great and helpful. In fact the staff can request any additional document if seem necessary for them.

I went there to get visa for my husband. The website showed that it might take up to a month, but we only had to wait only one day! We were pleasantly surprised by how quickly things went.

I don’t understand people who is complaining.
The Turkish girl was nice , and if you prepare the papers properly as they requested, will be no problems at all.

To those who may be reading reviews, please be kind and avoid being rude to the staff, and they will reciprocate with kindness. Other reviews that reflect bad experiences seem to come from people who think that someone owes them something.

Very fast process, I had a positive experience. Just make sure to carefully read the document requirements on the website, prepare everything, and come on time :) and yes, they only accept dollars in cash.

Today my wife renewed her Thai ID card and Passport, the service from the Thai gentleman throughout has been professional, courteous and very helpful. Prior to the appointment I had emailed the Embassy several times to confirm the details and requirements, each time they responded quickly and were very helpful. Top tips, ensure you have all the paperwork required, if unsure email well in advance, arrive on time for your appointment and ensure you have US dollars in the correct amount (there is an exchange shop next to McDonalds 2 minutes walk from the Embassy). Konsolosluktaki vize islemlerine bakan Turk hanimefendi cok yardimci oldu. Sordugumuz sorulara net ve acik cevaplar verdi. Kendisine tesekkur ediyorum. Avrupa ulkelerindeki konsolosluklarda asla bukadar yardimci olan calisan yok. Yorumlari gorunce cok sasirdim hanimefendi ile alakali. Sanirim bizim halkimizda da biraz anlama sorunu var:)
