Bo Sang Umbrella Village

There are many traditional umbrella shops and workshops in the vicinity but this one is the best.

A truly traditional and beautiful Thai item worth buying for display or for real use — many umbrellas can be used not just to protect you from the sun, but also the rain. They even have large patio umbrellas.

We got a custom made umbrella with a specific design that they had ready in an hour for less than 800 baht.

Suggest you visit later in the afternoon after 2 pm. Different events on different days. We went on Saturday and saw the beauty paegent with the girls cycling down the high street carrying umbrellas. Stalls set up from 3pm down the main high street, which is then closed to traffic.

Visited here 20 years ago, this time brought our teenage kids. Well worth the visit and very interesting to see the skill of the artisans who make such beautiful objects.

Interesting place where you can see how paper/bamboo umbrellas are made by hand. Free entrance and a huge collection is available for sale and not that expensive. The whole tour takes less than an hour.

Excellent night market...we were lucky to visit during the umbrella festival lots of good artists spotted which were much higher in quality than other places in Thailand

You can watch the artisans paint the umbrellas and fans. There are so many it is like an art exhibition. The people were very friendly
