Shewe Wana Boutique Hotel: A Gem in the Heart of Chiang Mai

5 out of 5 stars

We recently stayed at the Shewe Wana Boutique Hotel in Chiang Mai, and we were absolutely blown away. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and genuine kindness. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

We booked two suites, which were more like apartments than hotel rooms. Each suite had two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a spacious living area, and a fully equipped kitchen. The rooms were beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We felt right at home during our stay.

One of the highlights of our stay was the hotel's vegan restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. We also loved the smoothies, which were some of the best we've ever had.

The hotel also has a lovely swimming pool, which was perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. The pool was clean and well-maintained, and the temperature was just right.

The only minor issue we had was that the beds were a bit hard for our liking. However, this is just a personal preference, and we know that other guests may prefer a firmer mattress.

Overall, we had an amazing stay at the Shewe Wana Boutique Hotel. The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the food is delicious, and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a wonderful place to stay in Chiang Mai.

Additional information:

The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood, but it is still within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and attractions.
The hotel offers a free shuttle service to the Night Bazaar and other popular tourist destinations.
The hotel has a spa where guests can enjoy a variety of massages and treatments.
The hotel offers free Wi-Fi throughout the property.
Signed,

Family Fintz and Plassard

We will definitely be back!

Deceptively-delightful hotel.

Faces a rather busy street, and the rooms are set-back on the property in a serene, zen-like setting. Take about 20 steps in and it doesn’t seem like you’re in the heart of a busy Asian city.

Rooms are Chinese-colonial, spacious and decently appointed. Not modern, but not stale. It is “tastefully dated”.

Two nice pools for use. Water is clean and soft; not overly chlorinated.

The cafe serves some rather tasty vegan fare. I’m a carnivore and enjoyed the breakfasts.

One really tasty street-side restaurant beside the hotel, and another across the street. Numerous shops and eateries within a 3-10 minute walk.

About a 15 minute walk to the “downtown” tourist area and markets.

All in all, a solid hotel in a convenient location.

Oh: friendly, affable and helpful staff.

VINTAGE, HIGH-QUALITY, CHARMING, QUIET

This wonderful oasis in Chiang Mai has a gorgeous, dark-wood, vintage theme. The staff are so kind and informative and the restaurant has both vegan and gluten-free options (authentic Thai food). We had a great experience with our night there and would definitely want to book again. Its placement just outside the city provides the quiet of a small town with close proximity to important things. The bed was also SUPER comfy and clean and plush.

We were very well welcomed by smily nice, knowledgeable staff. Then when we went to our room, we were charmed by the complex and the room decor, which was very natural and in relation with the local culture. Our room was situated in a calm space where we could sleep well. Also, they have a no noise rule after some hour in the evening which allows you to relax and sleep very well. The staff was attentive to our needs all the time. They even let some good snacks. We felt like at home. The breakfast restaurant was awesome: we were seated in a calm jungle decor, in which we could almost meditate at the same time.

I stayed in four different hotels while on my recent trip, and this hotel was the absolute best of them all by a lot. The room was extremely spacious; the environment was lush, green and exceptionally quiet, and the staff were so incredibly friendly. And I give extra props on the breakfast, as they prepare a fantastic offering in a terrific little spot to quietly eat. 5 out of 5 without a doubt.

Shewe Wana is a great place to stay for a few days in Chiang Mai. JB and crew were very friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from Day 1. The rooms here are well-kept and clean. Bathroom is stocked with hair dryer, shower essentials, and extra towels. The bed drapes are both a lovely decoration and also functional for keeping out any wayward mosquitos. As for the venue and amenities, the jungle-like garden at Shewe Wana is spectacular and you’ll have your breakfast there among the foliage. Note: the breakfast seems to cater more to a tourist palate as opposed to traditional/local fare, but there are plenty of options and everything is fresh and delicious. Finally, it is a safe and quiet place to stay, despite being pretty centrally located on a busy street. At first, the door locks on our room seemed basic (a wooden latch with a padlock) but they were perfectly functional. The front gates of the resort are closed at night and monitored by an on-site security guard. We had a very early checkout on our last day, and the front desk generously arranged for the security guard to come help us bring our baggage down - this was such a nice touch. THANK YOU, Shewe Wana! One final note… we already had all of our excursions planned in advance, but it seems that Shewe Wana also has contact with plenty of tour operators in the area, in case you are looking.

What a trip! We were a family of 4 being in Chiangmai for the first time. Everything was simply wonderful and I would like to give a special shout out to Jaybie, Kate, and Alax for not just proving great service but you made our trip memorable. The hotel room was neat and clean and we had everything we needed. Even though there are many other hotel choices in the city but we would definately come back and stay with you in the future. Thank you for a great stay!

I met a large group of people at Shewe Wana for a delicious dinner and had a fun time. With a colonial-type feel and a garden in the back, it was quite a lovely place and the service was especially friendly and helpful.

I ordered the tempeh wrap with peanut sauce, along with a butterfly pea flower drink. I very much enjoyed it, though the portion was a little small. Lucky for me, I was able to taste some other foods, including an interesting salad, all of which were really good.

I'm ready for some more right now! I'm sure it would be nice to stay in their hotel.

Spacious rooms designed for a mid- to long-term stay. Charming and quaint, in keeping with the vibe of the city of Chiang Mai. Breakfast is pretty decent considering it is a vegetarian/vegan spot. Very close (walking distance) to interesting attractions.

Atmosphere just relaxing and tasteful . 🤗

Very happy with my stay here! It is an impeccably clean and well maintained hotel that's situated about a 20 minute walk to the old city. The resort also offers a complimentary shuttle hourly to key tourist locations, which I found to be very convenient. The staff were all extremely helpful and speak perfect English. The breakfast was always delicious with a ton of fresh fruit and made to order options. I would highly recommend this resort if you are looking for a serene, romantic location that is a little removed from the nightlife scene.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Located uniquely in the midst of commercial lot and we were surprised at how the landscape and villas were designed and setup you’d think it is actually at some remote location. Huge villa for my family of 6. Beautifully decorated too.

Just have to be careful with the mosquitoes at dusk.

Edited - breakfast is excellent! Great tasty and high energy breakfast options in the menu

One word: Fantastic! Very friendly staff, nice clean rooms, freshly cooked breakfast, great restaurant, relaxing massages. We visited on our honeymoon and were welcomed with a decorated bed, covered in rose petals, very nice start. The place may not look like much from the outside, but behind the main entrance you'll find yourself in a small but lush garden. It's located a bit far from the centre to walk, but a free tuktuk shuttle is offered by the hotel to drop you off near the main sights you want to visit.

Lovely hotel, the cutest place we've stayed at in Thailand. Lovely, very polite staff and cute little rooms. Rooms are small but absolutely fit for purpose. The breakfast is lovely, there is a menu which you can choose from and they make it and bring it to you fairly swiftly. There is also some bread/toast and small choice of cereal, juices and tea or coffee. We didn't eat in the restaurant but it seemed nice. 2 pools, cold, but would be lovely on a hot day!
15 minute, easy walk into the main town of chaing mai.
Would definitely recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay here. It's close enough to the center of town to walk to all the night markets, and see the other sights, but it's also -just- far enough away that it's nice and quiet, and feels quite secluded. The staff were wonderful and friendly, the breakfast options were plentiful, and we had the most relaxing time here. We love Chiang Mai, and plan to return, and when we do, we intend on staying here again.

Lovely hotel! Very quiet and serene, smelled of incense. Beautiful scenery. Spa, pool, breakfast were all great. Rooms was nice, could have used a desk, bed and lighting could have been softer. Overall great experience though.

This hotel is a delight and the staff are so friendly and attentive. The small grounds are very attractive and the pools very well kept. They organised a private driver tour of 6 temples for us, which was fabulous and we were very happy staying here. The food was great and happy hour cocktails were definitely a bonus!

For a first time trip to Thailand, I felt welcome here. The staff were kind and accommodating. The rooms and the entire hotel was always clean. Anyone who complained about this hotel for any reason was clearly looking for something wrong. I will definitely be back.

I liked that hotel very much! It was really charming and that place is so calm and nice to be in. The service, the people there are so adorable and they are caring about us a lot then it is sweet! Nothing bad to say about that hotel, it's relaxing, pretty and clean. Moreover that the restaurant there is really good, the food is so esthetic, and the price is totally okay for the quality of the food! And also the hotel is not really at the center of Chiang Mai but if you wish going somewhere they can bring you anywhere by "tuk-tuk" so its great!I recommend it!
