My family did the Fields of Gold tour, which is more of a relaxed sightseeing ride for the family than a rugged mountain biking experience and it was exactly what I had hoped for. The difficulty was easy, and when some of my family struggled with that, the group split in two with the support vehicle helping. I would like to especially thank ViVi who was extra supportive and encouraging on the ride. This gave us a unique insight into a more rural side of Thailand; not the usual city bustle or the remote wilderness we typically see. The scenery itself was lovely and the food was excellent.

Mountain biking is exploding in Thailand as with many places and this operator is atop the growth!
My son and I booked 'Smoke on the water' and LOVED IT!!
It was right up our alley and matched our skillet well from riding in USA with technical downhill, obstacles, flowey singletrack, climbs and FAST!
Our guide Kom (English-speaking) was great!
Knowledgeable, funny, personable and informative!

Ours was basically a private tour (us two and our guide) and we managed a full day tour in basically a half day (we-rode-FAST 😈🤘), and Kom allowed and accommodated our interest.

This trail started at the top of the mountain and drops into steep rutted, singletrack with roots. The top of the trail is the test at the beginning. Lower down you ride to a small hill tribe village and take a coffee/tea/snack break. You'll continue through jungle (banana trees, avocado and coffee plants, a lychee grove and fams).
There are sum taxing, brutal climbs (about 1600' total 🤯💪) and the total drop is like over 3000' in about 7 miles or riding!

Equipment is good (full suspension, setup for rider height) for Thai availability so don't expect top US or UK name brand gear. And you're provided with knee and elbow pads and a well-fit helmet, full face if you'd like as well). Dan (manager) is kind and knowledgeable and will guide you to appropriate trail(s).per your skill set and riding ability.

They fit you with a bike and gear, shuttle you to the trailhead. Pre-ride you meet the crew (and others in your tour as applicable) at the shop and prep with some amazing coffee or tea. They'll Provide water and snack, cover the break and after-ride lunch (we went to Boat Restaurant and Bakery). They bring you back to the shop and have great after-ride tea and coffee (barista style espresso offerings).

Quite professional with a sustainable tourism ethic. 👍👍

Best experience in Chiang Mai. Awesome kind and attentive team. Incredible experience. We did the buffalo soldier route. My partner and I both ride road bikes but not mountain bikes. We threw ourselves into it and absolutely loved it! Such fun. Some tricky sections but we enjoyed it. Good way to see the jungle and escape tourists.

We did half a day LifeCycle in the city with Viv and it was amazing, a highlight of our time in Chiang Mai - much more than just a cycling tour, it takes you off the beaten track and a glimpse into the community’s in Chiang Mai from the talented skills of the people behind the beautiful Silver Temple to a behind the scenes of the night markets. Viv was also so much more than a guide and it felt like a friend showing you around the city. Definitely a must do, will never forget cycling through the streets and learning to navigate the roads and traffic like a local :)

If you're an outdoor person and also likes to ride an MTB, this place will be a perfect option. I would say if I could choose only one thing in Chiang Mai, I would definitely choose to ride with them. I rode their Numb course, and it was a bit too difficult for me, but I had a lot of fun. I've ridden MTBs for about 10 years quite seriously, but if you don't know how to ride a full shock bike the way it is designed to be ridden, I would recommend riding some other courses and you'd still have lots of fun. I had to hit the brakes so often until my hands were eventually NUMB just like the course name.

The guide, Kom, was such a perfect guide with a very good sense of humor. And the beautiful driving lady (sorry, I didn't ask her name) was also very kind and helped everything run smoothly. I would never forget my time with them. Thank you ,Trailhead staff, so much for everything.

I wouldn't hesitate even for a second to ride with them if I ever come back to Chiang Mai. Thank you again and happy new year!

I’m so glad I was able to find the Trailhead company and book a mountain bike ride through them. It was extra special that it was just a small group of 2 of us and the biking guide Lek. I did the “buffalo soldier”ride and it pushed me out of my comfort zone just the right amount and granted me this unique experience of riding on trails in the forest. The mountain bike they outfitted me with was of a high standard and they provided gear like a bike riding backpack and safety gear. It was a really fun day riding down the mountain, stopping to take in the stunning scenery and finishing off the trip with a delicious lunch close to a lake. Tips: bring mosquito repellent as the mosquitoes are relentless in the jungle! Also, bring a change of clothes because it’s really nice to be able to change out of your muddy sweaty outfit when the ride is over and have lunch and drive home in clean clothes. Lek was a super knowledgeable guide and I felt very safe and looked after with him leading the ride. My only warm feedback for Trailhead is to update the safety gear (gloves, knee pads and elbow pads) as these pieces seemed really worn and due for replacement. I’ll be booking another day trip with Trialhead the next time I visit the Chiang Mai area, and recommending them to friends. Thanks!

We did the half day city bike Tour and it was epic! This is highly recommend. The bikes were a good quality. The guides Kib and ViVi were amazing and looked after us so well. The tour was
Special and unique and we stopped at a silver making workshop, saw the silver temple, tried awesome foods and visited places in the city we would have never gone to without Trailhead in Chiang Mai! Awesome bike tour!

We had a really fun day with Lek and Vivi. I’ve never rode a mountain bike before, Lek gave us a quick training and made sure we are comfortable with our bikes before we started. Along the way, he gave a lot of technical guidance and encouragement.

The route was very scenic, with a good mixture of roads and dirt tracks. Bikes were in great condition too, hydration breaks were well paced too.

This tour is beginner friendly, but you’ll definitely enjoy it more if you have a good level of fitness.

Thank you Lek and vivi for taking such good care of us.

Had THE BEST time with Nee and Vivi in Doi Inthanon National Park. It was just like doing a tour with friends. We had great conversations, delicious food and laughed a lot. They are just the sweetest souls and always prepared to give you a snack or some interesting information about the area you‘re in. Or both at the same time.
If you’re in Chiangmai a tour with Trailhead should be on your list. The range of tours they provide offer something for almost every age and fitness level. Don’t miss this !

Fantastic experience! We did the jungle cross country mountain bike ride which was about a half-day visit. Our guide (Lek) and support driver (VV) were fantastic and made the experience for my son and I very special. Great instruction, perfect level of complexity to match our ability and they even got great photos for us along the way. I’d recommend them to anyone - very professional service and super nice team

We had the most fantastic time with Trailhead. They picked us up from their hotel and took us to their office for a safety briefing and a coffee (included in the price!). We had two vans following us for the bike ride (the passenger van and bike van) and the guides were fantastic. It was a really great ride (albeit quite exhausting!) and fantastic experience. There were lots of water and snack breaks too! Sticky waterfall is beautiful, and lunch was at a really delicious noodle restaurant. An absolute bargain! We'd definitely take a Trailhead tour again without hesitation.

If you are into mountain biking and you find yourself visiting Chiang Mai, this a must-do. My son and I joined the ‘Numb’ tour. We had a Fantastic day!! The guides are super friendly, relaxed and really professional. Guides take pictures and make videos throughout the day, which are shared afterwards. The tour itself can only be described as a true adventure, with some steep ( and sometimes slippery) descents, deep ruts, river crossings, mixed up with some muscle aching climbs. You’re rewarded by some refreshing snacks and coconut at the end.

Half day city bike tour was really great. Slow and easy. We also had lunch together and shop together. The tour guide was so kind and told me a lot about the city. I recommend this tour to all the people who come to Chiangmai. Thank you Spc! ♡

Had a great experience on a full day mountain biking tour. We did the Sticky Falls Explorer tour. It was fun to get outside of Chiang Mai City for a while. The Sticky Falls at the end of the trip was the highlight. Such a beautiful place even with all of the tourists. Plenty of snacks and water is provided as well as a pretty good lunch toward the end of the trip. This place also serves great coffee. My bike was in great working condition. This tour is denoted as "easy", but you do need to be in pretty good physical condition as there is quite a bit of hill climbing. However, do not fear if you are not a strong climber. There is a vehicle available if it is too strenuous for you.

Fantastic experience! Cold, slippery, muddy, watery, sunny, roots, stones, waterfalls etc etc. Beautiful viewpoints. Up was way harder than I expected, I died a couple of times, but it was totally worth it. Kom is a nice guy with knowledge and humor. Because we were just with 2 riders we did the whole trip on our own pace, ate together afterwards and I came 'home' early enough to take a bath and a oh so needed massage. Not the numb ride, but (more than) numb enough!

Did sticky waterfall MTB and buffalo soldier MTB couple days after. Highly recommend! The service is on point. For both tours, they provide a support vehicle trailing behind you the whole time and offer snacks, fruits and drinks whenever you want. You can also hop on if you’re feeling tired. They even have photographers snapping pictures of you AND they send them back to you afterwards :)

Thank you Kom and VV for the great mountain biking experience in Chiang Mai. We had fun (despite the uphill cycling..Kom was really encouraging throughout the journey :D) zipping through the forest and really going off-the-beaten path to get to Sticky Waterfalls. Loved the snacks, fresh fruits and delicious lunch too! Give this a try if you're looking for an adventure in CM!!

If you are looking for real hiking that is the place you should choose! The focus is on the nature, sport, fruits and whatever you will find on your way! One of the best hiking/trekking i have ever had. Totally recommend it, you will not regret!

We went on the rural explorer day trip and had an absolutely amazing time. They were extremely well organized, and the guides were helpful, nice, and lovely people. They brought along perfect snacks for the breaks, fresh fruit and sticky rice. The trail was well planned and manageable for everyone, with the car traveling right behind us in case anyone got tired and wanted to take a break. We also didn’t have to carry any bag with us which was nice. The views were amazing, and it was honestly a fantastic experience. Highly recommended!
