Great place, highly recommend. Went on a hike with a local tour guide and it was a nice one through the beautiful water falls, rice fields, flower fields etc

It's definitely the most beautiful mountain area in Thailand. This is the 3rd highest summit in the country but that's a real mountain contrary to Doi Inthanon and Doi Phahompok that are big hills. It's full of peaks, cliffs, limestone rocks and the nature is wild and various. The views at the summits are imposing and majestic especially for sunset and sunrise.
Unfortunately it is now almost impossible to visit due to restrictions by National Park. It is open only 4 months a year (November to February) and limited to 50-100p a day. The process to apply is also very complicated and almost impossible if you don't speak Thai. In addition, conditions of admission change every year.
Hopefully there are also secret routes all around the mountains that allow enjoying Doi Chiang Dao without all these bureaucratic paperwork and conditions.

Ideal place for those who enjoy hiking with "zero" facilities, that means there's no tap water and electricity on the summit. However, there's still National Park's service shop for you to find something eat. The view of the mountains are superb and I can't resist of visiting again soon.

One of Thailands best kept secrets. Raw nature and wildlife, mountain setting and pleasant climate.

I climbed the Doi Chiang Dao. It's a ~8 hours trek up and down through stunning jungle.

We visited during the burning season (end of March) so the views were a bit obscured but it was still very much worth the visit.
200 baht per person for entry into the sanctuary, however we went up the day before to enquire and one of the border guards kindly said he would only charge us 100 baht each.
There is one main road which runs right underneath the mountain, and then around the outside of the sanctuary. It offers some spectacular views particular at sunset / sunrise and it would be worth visiting just to drive the road (in my opinion). There are also numerous hiking trails which are easy to find, winding various paths through the mountains and into the villages also offering stunning views. The sanctuary is closed for walking for most of the year as far as I'm aware, however the trails are easy to access and deserted apart from the odd villager.

Nothing to say. Just come and feel it by yourselves. But if you expect to any facilities, don’t come

One of most beautiful mountain range. It's national park where still green and colorful with wildlife yet close to town. There are lots caves and hot springs as well as river around naturally. Rent the bike and drive around area. Such a great location to spend three days and above. I think you can walk in Mountain with national park guides as well. Interesting adventurous place and unspoiled.

Beautiful area. We rented a scooter for the day and road from one side of the park to the other and back. The steep road takes you up and down mountains and into/out of the clouds. Rain jacket was required.

My most impressive park in Thailand. 5hr walk to the camp. Atmosphere is exceptionally natural. No electricity nor any utility. My bad luck was the day I visited was very foggy from weather change.

The Chiang Dao moumtain is lush, with many endemic plants and animals. The forest is pristine

It is highly restrictive area where the nature trails are only open for tourist 3 months a year. All tourists must be accompanied by a local guide throughout the trip.

You will need 1 day for hiking up to base camp, and another day for hiking down.

This is the one-in-a-lifetime kind of thing. (Which I want yo do it again.)

Recommend for people who enjoy hiking and can live with NO amenities at all. If you can you will be rewarded.

Did a 2D1N hiking with PM tour and I loved my time here! We trekked around different terrains, with up and downs, and we could even swim in waterfalls and interact w dogs cows and chickens! The locals living in the hill are pretty chill and friendly as well. Our tour guide even brought us to areas where we can have a paranomic view of the highest peak of Doi Luang Chiang Dao! A must go if you're a nature lover.
