The Thai Royal Park Rajapruek is a definite must-see for tourists and visitors of Chiang Mai.

With both shuttle buses and taxi access (for only a few quid) it's somewhere you can easily spend a whole day perusing these beautifully green and opulent grounds.

Entrance fee (which is cash only) includes a free map of the grounds where you can explore with ease, and you can even hire bikes should you wish to do so.

The temple* that is at the centre this park is stunning and you can learn lots about the King, the history of the king and his history with the people and land of Thailand.

There are numerous facilities throughout the site for coffees, cool drinks and ice-cream, etc. as well as plenty of toilets, and plenty of places to sit and take in the beautiful landscape. And yes, there is also a cute gift shop.

The only thing I would advise is to go early, around 10 am, so that you can see as much as possible before the mid-day sun really hits.

*This is the only part that would be inaccessible to wheelchair users, but they also get free entry.

A great place to spend half a day. The palace is beautiful. The international gardens are adorable! You'd better rent a bike there (60 TB) and explore all the corners of the park on wheels. We were there in the middle of January on a Saturday. The park was almost empty, and most of the gardens had already dried up and were not in bloom, otherwise the park was green and beautiful. We recommend taking snacks and water with you in advance, there are few places where you can drink or eat anything. Tickets for foreigners cost 200 tb per person.

Absolutley loved this, it’s well worth the 200bhat each as you could easily spend a whole day here. It’s not got many tourists there at all, not busy and plenty to see. Very beautiful

In Chiang Mai's embrace, where hills and blossoms meet,
Royal Park Rajapruek stands, a botanical feat.
Named for regal grace, it unfolds with pride,
A haven of nature where Thai heritage resides.

Founded in '06, a floral symphony begun,
Celebrating the King's Golden Jubilee, brightly spun.
Botanic wonders grace the sprawling terrain,
Each bloom, a tale in the Royal Park's refrain.

With diverse gardens and stories to unfold,
Rajapruek's allure, a treasure to behold.
Nature's sovereign tribute in Chiang Mai's embrace,
Royal Park Rajapruek, a sanctuary of grace.

I recently visited Rajapruek Place and was captivated by its lush greenery and stunning floral displays. The meticulously curated gardens offer a serene escape, with well-maintained paths adding to the joy of strolling through each charming section.

The Flower Festival 2024 was a vibrant highlight, enhancing the beauty of the surroundings with its colorful blooms and fragrances. The garden's attention to detail in design creates a picturesque setting.

The friendly and knowledgeable staff at Rajapruek Place eagerly shared insights about plant species and the garden's cultural significance. Clean facilities and ample resting spots contribute to a pleasant experience.

I highly recommend Rajapruek Place to nature enthusiasts, families, and those seeking a peaceful retreat. It's a true gem in Chiang Mai, deserving of praise. I look forward to returning to explore more of this botanical paradise in the future.

Royal Park Rajapruek
I visited this place mid April 2023. It’s a very beautiful park, well maintained and it’s also very big. So make sure you allowed plenty of time on your visit so you don’t have any regret. The park has free mini shuttle buses that come around every 20 minutes. It’s a self guided tour so to make it more joyful, you should go there with someone you know that would enjoy the scenery with you so you can take your time looking around. It is also a good idea to bring some cold drinking water, a hat or an umbrella, it gets very very HOT to be out and walking about and you will definitely need plenty of water.

It is a very beautiful park. You need to visit here with time so that you can walk around and see the entire thing. They do provide free shuttle service but the tour is only in Thai language and will not stop at any place so you will be able to cover the park in just 20 min. It's a really beautiful artificially created park and you will get some really beautiful pictures here.

We reached the park early in the morning around 8.30. No queue and we were welcomed by a very kind and helpful staff. Enjoy the walking and the shuttle. Every 15 minutes you can catch the shuttle, but you can also rent a bicycle and experience the park while having exercise. The orchid garden outside was not blooming yet ( early September) but inside there was a green house with a colourful explosion of ortensia species and roses. Some areas are under rebuilding and some few new projects. Great experience!!!

I think it’s worth a visit. It’s a great park and a beautiful temple. You have the options to walk, rent a bike or drive with open busses. The place has 8 bus stations and you can get out anytime and walk around. Its a atmospheric and kid friendly park.

The park opens every day. Ticket cost 100-200 baht per person. There is a free shuttle every 15 minutes. You can also rent a bicycle for 60-100baht for a whole day. We love riding bicycle here. We can stop anywhere for picture and go on our own pace. There's not a lot of people so you can enjoy the whole place. However, many pavillions are not in good condition (as it used to be when they opened in 2006). Overall we enjoy our day here very much.

beautiful, beautiful photo op moments. came on a Wednesday and there was so few people, I was alone in the temple for quite some time. 200 baht entrance fee.

I recommend renting a bike, as it allows you to go through the park faster.
If you like botanical gardens, this is a must do.

Big complex with variety of exhibits(?) To view. Free shuttle hop on/off anywhere runs by approx every 15 min, when walking is exhausting. Gift shop has reasonably priced items (I bought bottle honey lemon tea and it was only 20 Baht).

One of my personal chiang mai highlights. Beautiful and more then "just" a park or temple.

Located in a huge well maintained park, you can explore first part of the area by shuttle, rent a bicycle or even walking and you would find yourself in between many smaller areas, most of them didicated towards other asian country/culture, some good spots for taking pics and selfie here.

After that you would reach the highlight, the temple that is getting actively used for praying but is allowed to be entered for tourist too. There is elevator and ramp too, so ppl in wheelchair or with baby buggy can go up as well.

In the area there is also coffeeshop same as many vendors mainly selling local snack, drink and thai dessert.

A good place to go with friends and family to enjoy being in the fresh air at a quiet place outside from busy Chiang Mai.

Awesome place for photo taking
