I cannot say enough good things about this experience. This is a great sanctuary with a beautiful story of saving the elephants. Please visit and support this chapter of these beautiful creatures lives. We fed them, gave mud baths, hike the jungle with the elephants and then made them protein balls for digestion. One of the best days ever! There is also an adjacent Village that is the Long Neck Hmong Tribe. You may enter and learn about their culture and support these ladies as they are not Thai citizens. We were also served a delicious lunch. I would do this again in a heart beat.

This sanctuary and its elephants are truly magical. Most elephants here have had to endure an unfair life but they are still the most gentle creatures I've met. Whilst this sanctuary is still new you can already feel like they're going to do the best that they can for these animals.

Best experience during our stay in Thailand! When we arrived at New Elephant Home we received a warm welcome from the staff. We got the opportunity to use their traditional clothes during our visit. We had to prepare the snacks for the elephants and started to feed them. Then we went for a walk with the keepers and a really kind elephant called “little”. You can see that the elephants are very happy to be there and the staff is doing their best for them. After meeting the elephants we visited the long neck village in this camp. Due to the good English of our really friendly guide we were able to had a conversation about the history and vision of the New elephants home and got a lot of insights in the culture of long neck village. We had a lot of fun and can really recommend it, totally worth the money!

New Elephant Home answers the question we all ask when we plan our thai itinerary: where to go for an elephant experience?

They are ethical, engaging, respectful of guests and the animals, experienced handlers, an interactive experience without riding or performances, and have a high ratio of elephants to guests; all in an idyllic setting.

The owner/manager, Dom - is a wonderful host and in the process of opening a coffee shop/cocktail bar that will allow guests to enjoy a coffee/drink while they watch the elephants play and graze, surrounded by beautiful backdrop of mountains and bamboo rafts floating the river nearby. He plans to open mid-December, 2023, and wasn't fully up and running when we went, but he went out of his way to make us delicious coffees, including a "black orange" which is his take on an americano with orange (espresso with orange juice). It was delicious. Hopefully someday we can come back for the cocktails!! Dom had excellent english and sat with us for a while, answering all sorts of questions.

Cannot recommend this place enough. We've heard stories of 30 guests and 3 elephants, minimal time with the animals, poor living conditions for animals/staff, etc. And none of those are the case here.

Best of luck to Dom and the crew on their endeavours!!!

Lovely day in this ethnic sanctuary. They are respectful of the elephant and that's what we were looking for. Everyone is so nice and makes you have a great day. Thanks again to our wonderful guide Chris !

It was definitely the most memorable moments in my Chiangmai vacation when I took a walk with the elephants in the forest.
They were so calm, happy and fullfiled that you can tell clearly by their body language. It was a lot more exciting to feed them fruits and bathing in a river with them.(You'll have to walk into water for few meters to get to the little raft. Prepare to get wet and bitten by mosquitoes, but it is totally worth it.)

Anyways, really thankful for our guide Dom and all the caring workers in Chokchai Elephant Park. They are trying very hard to turn the place from a circus to an actual sanctuary. You'll be able to interact with elephants in the most natural way here. Highly recommend!!

We had an unforgettable day at the new elephant home just outside Chiang Mai. Walking around and feeding the elephants was a truly amazing experience. Learning about the trauma inflicted on these magnificent creatures for tourist rides was eye-opening and left us with a deep appreciation for responsible tourism. Our guide, Nee, was exceptional - knowledgeable and passionate about elephant welfare. This place is a must-visit for anyone in Thailand looking to have an ethical and enjoyable encounter with these gentle giants. Thank you for the incredible memories!

Lovely staff with an amazing project to rehabilitate elephants rescued from captivity! Members of the long neck Karen tribe care for the elephants and the camp. Amazing cultural experience as well as getting to spend time with elephants. Easily accessible by car or on foot, parking is available and pricing is very reasonable. You can buy drinks on property.

Tommy and the staff at the Chok Chai elephant park made our wildlife experience with the elephants a memory we will never forget! Hands down the most compassionate, funny, and knowledgeable care team in Thailand. If you love dogs, cats, and elephants of course, this is a must visit to your Thailand stay.

Awesome experience getting to be so close to some Asian Elephants and learn a little about them from the guides. We went with a tour group so it was nice to have transportation so far from Chiang Mai city, but it's doable if you want to drive there.
Support more of these elephant experiences rather than the elephant riding! You seriously don't miss out and it's so fun to get up close to feed and bathe the elephants as they really seem to enjoy the attention.
Lunch was included and super delicious, enjoyed outdoors where you could watch the elephants roam about, and while these beasts are huge I felt completely safe with the caretakers carefully guiding the elephants around.

Wonderful Elephant Sanctuary. Disregard the negative reviews, as they were written before this park transformed into a sanctuary. The guides were extremely friendly, humorous, and knowledgeable. I had a great time interacting with the elephants—feeding them, playing in the mud, and bathing with them in the river. These gentle giants are truly remarkable. I highly recommend it. 🐘😊🙏🏻

Absolutely loved this sanctuary. Please don't read old review from years ago. With the support of Lek Chailert, founder of Elephant Nature Park and Save Elephant Foundation, Chok Chai has made a complete 180 and now hosts 54 free roam elephants. I actually accidentally stumbled across this sanctuary as I was riding through Chiang Mai. I'm glad I did!

Chokchai was an incredible experience!
They have recently merged with Elephant Nature Park (a rescue sanctuary for elephants) and have now changed their whole concept to caring for their elephants. Before you were able to ride and see elephants shows, but not anymore! Now you get to feed and walk with the elephants freely (how it’s supposed to be :))! Currently they are in transition to become an ethical park so it was nice to hear the honest background of the place.
Our guide Bobby from Elephant Nature Park was very attentive to us and the son’s owner was also present giving a very well rounded tour.
I highly encourage people to visit this beautiful place! Also special shout out to baby elephant Chok Chai who’s just 8 months now!

One of the most raw and dynamic elephant sanctuaries I've been to. The 55 elephants are energetic and playful, especially the 11 babies.

It's led by a young group of managers and staffs in their 20s who seem to be working hard to take care of the elephants. Hats off to an incredible team showing the power of the young generation.
