There are 2 tours per day 9am and 1230 pm I preferred the afternoon and bathing was quite nice. Great treatment of elephants and no chains. They are very friendly here and have great English. MR. TONY IS A SUPERSTAR

I’m all for animal enjoying their natural habitat. With that said, these animals looked healthy and seemed to enjoy the poses and activities for special treats. Tony our guide was great and it was a very cool experience. Great hosts and really enjoyed our time. Pad Thai, water, and coconut was included. Would definitely go back.

Best elephant sanctuary in Thailand. I’ve been to many sanctuaries and this is by far the best experience I’ve had. I’ve been 4 times and each time has been an amazing time. So much love and care for the elephants. A perfect mix of education, interaction with the elephants and having fun. Would highly recommend for a solo traveler or for a large group. Mr. Tony, staff and the herd of elephants share their love and passion with everyone. ❤🐘😎

The fee was on the higher end, but the experience was worth it! You basically pay to have some experience to be an elephant caretaker and get pictures. At the start our guide gave us lots of facts about elephants, some words to communicate with them, and introduced us to the elephants. He mentioned that the elephants are rescues from ayutaya.

We were then given opportunities to feed the elephants before giving one a "feet spa" and taking all of them for a walk. The tour ended with us talking them to the river for a wash. The elephant caretakers were gentle to the elephants the whole time, and you can tell that they really cared for them.

FYI, the elephants spray themselves with sand/ roll around in the mud to keep themselves cool as they don't sweat through their body. It is not the elephant caretakers purposefully spraying them with sand to make us wash them on the tour!

Absolutely loved this elephant sanctuary. I know there’s a lot of skepticism around elephant places in Thailand, but I felt like this was one of the good ones. I’m a wildlife photographer, so I’m a big proponent of good animal practices, and I appreciated the care they give the elephants here and really enjoyed my experience.

I had an amazing time at Maerim Elephant Home! The staff were incredibly friendly, and it was heartwarming to see how happy and well-cared-for the elephants were. Feeding these gentle giants was a dream come true, and the mischievous little elephants added an extra layer of joy to the experience. Truly unforgettable!

Lovely opportunity to learn about these beautiful creatures in a relaxed, natural setting. Had a great time getting to know about them, feed them, and then walk to the river to bathe with them. A change into traditional clothing , then after we had Pad Thai, which was delicious with a drink. I was part of a small group altogether so felt more personal. An amazing experience.

Very good place to taking care of elephants, no riding on them. We enjoyed doing the foot spa for the elephants. Walk with them to the forest and end up with taking them a bath in the small river. The guide/ instructor is so kind, friendly and helpful his name is Tony. We are so much impressed and would like to be back again. The activity start from 10.00-12.00 am. Definitely worth for the ticket of 1500 bht.

Loved the experience, really fun and enjoying for all age groups - for kids and adults! Starts with a small briefing about the language used by the elephants.. yes, they have a language! Then, feeding a lot of food to the elephants! Phototaking, shower time with elephant by scrubbing them non-stop and finally ends with a pad Thai meal, fruits and drink.

This is really recommended for everyone! Book in advance, it will require 3-4 hours of your time. Tony the guide knows good English and he made the experience even more worthwhile. Do not book with the hotel, you can book directly with them!

What an amazing experience we had today at Maerim Elephant Home. 5 beautiful Elephants, very well taken care of and visually happy. Feeding, cleaning, walking through jungle with them and then bathing them in the river. Highly recommended.

We booked and paid this experience online directing with them with shuttle service from/to our hotel. It was not quite proper that we weren't contacted regarding hotel-pickup until very late in the evening the day before our visit. We were picked up by a red-van (the typical bus-type pickup truck running around in Chiangmai city), and arrived on time. A simple lunch and fresh coconut were offered before our tour. A comprehensive knowledge about elephant was provided before we got our hands-on to feed and bathe the elephants. There were no elephant rides or shows, but the four elephants were repeating the same program 4 rounds a day. These were the elephants that they saved from Ayutthaya Elephant Camp that used to be ridden by tourists. Overall we had really good experience, knowing more about elephants with jokes, interacting with them with fruits, bathing them in the river. But DO be careful when you are in close distance with the elephants, they might get startled with even a gust of wind and be agressive.

We had Jimmy as our main guide. They were fun, and funny and really looked afttus guests and the elephants wonderfully.

They have only 4 elephant whom they rescued from show life and they now live here peacefully enjoying being fussed over. All the animals, dogs and cats included looked healthy and well looked after.

At no point did I feel the elephants were being forced or unhappy to do anything. They have a great life of being spoilt since they'd not be able to live outside of captivity.

Definitely recommend this experience!

This is a true simple and meaningful and respectful for the elephants compare with riding them or see their show to paint or soccer playing. highly recommended for everyone who would like to know more about elephants and respect for them....2 hours program we get some information about elephants and then we prepare food for them and feeding them, we will have foot care to them and we have a walk with them to the river side....at the end it is very fun to brush and bathing with them in the river! Tony is our guide and he is so kind and take care all of us! Visited Chiang Mai more than 5 times and already tried all of the activities here and this one I would highly recommend to come and have a unique experience!

Although it's very rustic, it just adds to the general good vibe of it. The elephants are too cute and I think that they are treated well. We got to wash them and feed them and take pictures with them. The staff are also super friendly and very impressive with their knowledge and spoken languages.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The tour starts with a change of clothes. Then Jimmy (our guide) provided an engaging elephant education. We helped scrub the elephant’s toenails. Afterwords we were provided what seemed to be an endless supply of bananas to feed the elephants either by trunk or by saying “bon soon” so the elephant knew to lift their truck so that we could place the bananas in their mouth! Wow! Then, we all walked along with the elephants in the jungle on our way to the river. At the river, the elephants laid down and we could help give them a bath. The visit was very intimate and not rushed. Jimmy helped with photo taking throughout the 2 hours. Overall a once in a lifetime experience!
