Darapirom Palace Museum, Chulalongkorn University

A nice stop for people interested in Thai/Lanna history. The grounds are beautiful and we spent about 45 minutes here walking around the museum. Two things stood out -- I loved the old pictures -- they impart a nice sense of an older era, and I loved the textiles. The museum is a little outside town but good to pair with other activities in the area.

Princess Dara Rasmi’s most beloved house is situated near Darabhirhom Temple. You get a glimpse of history as if you would go back 100 years before.

Her room, her way of dressing, and many of the furnitures are very well-preserved.

If you already pass by Wat Pa Darabhirhom, drop by to see more of historical site from the time of King Rama 5.

Lovely historic teak building respectfully restored. Much to see. Good interpretive signs. Friendly staff. Ample parking. Lovely grounds. Important piece of Thai history. Fabulously clean toilets! No disabled access. No photos inside. Easily reached from Chiang Mai. Entry price is low.

Amazing place. Priceless historical photos can be seen. Please wear socks because we need to take off the shoes to go up the building.

A beautiful teak mansion built for late princess Dara Rasmi of Chiang Mai once she departed Bangkok for residing in Chiang Mai after her husband King Rama V has passed away.
This mansion also kept a huge collection of historical photos, textile and craft works.

A well-kept small palace of a Lanna’s princess who married a Thai king. Not to mention 20-Baht entrance fee for all.

Well preserved royal residence with bilingual materials in both Thai and English. Easy to understand, surely, you will have an enjoyable time here!
