Tanita house is a peaceful little oasi in Chiang Mai. Aor is truly amazing and welcoming (even if she doesn’t like cooking, she prepared us delicious scramble eggs with bacons every morning :) and she also helped me booking a last minute day trip to Chiang Rai and a cooking class (you can find plenty of other activities too).
Our room was spacious, cleaned and the beds so comfortable that we slept like babies (:
I highly recommend Tanita house (:
Aor you are amazing and I hope to see you again in the future ❤

I loved my stay at Tanita house. The traditional Thai architecture was great, the beds and house were comfortable, and I was so glad to support a very sweet 4th generation woman-owned business! We loved the simple breakfast every morning and easy access to water bottles too. I preferred this area to staying inside the old city —there was great food and coffee nearby and it felt more locally-oriented than the touristy city center, which was still easy to get to. If I stayed in Chiang Mai again, I’d book Tanita house in a heartbeat.

Stopped in Chiang Mai for a couple of days while backpacking through Thailand and had an amazing stay here. Even though you’re very close to the city centre, the wooden cabins and green surroundings of this guesthouse provide a relaxing atmosphere to end your busy visiting days.
The host is extremely friendly and has a lot of useful recommendations and can help with transport etc when needed.
Prolonged my stay here with an extra day, both because of the guesthouse and Chiang Mai having so many different places to visit.

I've spent a full week in the Tanita House and absolutely anjoyed it! The staff is super friendly an helped me with everything i needed. The rooms are awesome and you get your own refrigerator with a constant refill of water which is very nice in hot weather conditions.
The place is really silent and calm but at the same time you have resaturants etc. nearby and can easily walk or tuktuk to the old town.
Can absolutely recommend it and would love to come back one day!

Had a very nice and relaxing stay at Tanita House.
The location is perfect on the east side of the river, just outside the busy streets but nice walking distance to the old town.

Aun and the staff are very accommodating and the compound is rustic and charming.

I actually extended my stay twice.

We stayed there almost two weeks with our kids and it was just perfect. The host is adorable, the location is perfect and each time we came back from the city it felt so nice to come back to this peaceful place.

Our stay at Tanita House could not have been more delightful. The host (Aoi) was very sweet and accommodating to all of our needs. The transitional Thai styled rooms were very clean and made our experience feel more authentic. There is not better place to stay in Chiang Mai!!!

One of the highlights of our trip. Such an amazing and relaxing accommodation. We had a double with ensuite. So much character. Room was clean and well put together with a small covered porch. The grounds are lush and green. We loved the room and the grounds! Lovely open breakfast area with fresh fruit, coffee and eggs, bacon and toast available. We enjoyed just lingering there in the morning. Aor, the owner is about the kindest, most generous person you could hope to meet. She really added so much to our stay! If you're looking for a quieter relaxing accommodation, this won't disappoint!

The atmosphere around, a lot of greenery. The lady host is a wonderful person who does not impose herself.
Beautiful traditional house, where you can smell the wood. As for the location, it is a quiet place close to the center where you can relax. I highly recommend this place, you won't regret it.

Such a lovely hostel just around the corner of the city center. It’s so close to everything, yet so calm as the cottages are in a beautiful garden. Very clean and comfortable. We lived in a private cottage, and had our own bathroom which was amazing. The included breakfast was delicious, and this all together with probably the best host ever made this a wonderful stay. Will definitely come back, and recommend you to go as well!

This is our third time staying here. I'm sure that there are lots of nice places to stay in Chiang Mai, but we are so happy here that we would never think to look anywhere else. In a word, SERENE!!! Each of the rooms is an old style Thai wooden house, and the entire property is tucked back away from the road. It's lushly landscaped, and you feel like you are all alone in a personal wilderness. It's not a fancy 5 star resort, but it's clean, comfortable, and an awesome place to relax with great bars and restaurants overlooking the Nam Ping River just across the street. Aor, the owner (pronounced OAR) is even more lovely and charming than her place is, and has made us feel like family each time we have stayed. I'm sure that you'll love it here as much as we do!

We loved staying in a beautiful bungalow at this gem of a place. Oh is the warm and hospitable matron of the house, making us feel at home.

The rooms are clean and spacious, with each bungalow having an outdoor deck to enjoy the jungle vibes. The grounds are impeccably maintained.

Tanita Coffee House is run by Oh's barista nephew and sister chef. Make sure you try the Khao Soi!!

The location is on the other side of the Ping river, but a bridge walk away from Chiang Mai City market.

Calm still centrally located in Chiang Mai. Very clean, easy check-in/check-out and lovley thai-style cottages but still with AC, complementary water and nice breakfast. The host is so nice and give great advice if needed for day trips etc.

Located well outside of the city center, this lovely little guest house was a perfect choice for our five nights in Chiang Mai.

Room: we had a two-person cabin and it was just perfect. Lots of character: it is a renovated 19th century food storage space. The size was quite adequate: unlike in many places the pictures represent the room well. The furnishing and decor was simple but classy. The shower was average: soap was provided when requested. Outlets were convenient and WiFi worked well.

Food: the western breakfast is good: granola, fruit, yogurt, eggs, bacon and toast are all available. The onsite coffee shop has a limited but delicious food menu and the coffee drink I had was awesome. Note that they close at 6:00.

Location: the property is on a busy road, which is not that attractive, but is set back far enough you would have no idea the road is there. To get to the city center we used Grab, which was unfailingly cheap and easy. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, and the nearby Warorot market becomes a foodie's paradise after about 5:00. Note that the property itself is a highlight; old teak buildings set on impeccably landscape grounds.

Hospitality: the owner, Aor, is an absolute delight. She is warm, friendly and an engaging conversationalist. The eating area has an impressive collection of her grandparent's artifacts, some of which are for sale.

Finally, I would consider this place an outstanding value for the money. I would have considered twice what I paid to be reasonable.

Great place to stay just across the footbridge from the Warorot Market. Quiet lovely property with 4 little bungalows. Host Aor is lovely and helpful and also sells antiques. Little cafe on the property is run by a family member. Would 100% recommend! So much nicer than and anonymous hotel in the city.
