Chiang Mai Gate

Chiang Mai Gate is one of the four main gates that surround the Old City of Chiang Mai, which was built in 1296 by King Mangrai as the capital of the Lanna Kingdom. The gate is located on the south side of the wall, facing the Ping River. The gate was originally made of wood and earth, but was later reconstructed with bricks and cement. The gate has a distinctive archway with a tiled roof and a small pavilion on top. The gate is also decorated with flowers and lanterns, especially during festivals and celebrations

Every evening, there is a night market near the gate, where you can find a range of street food, souvenirs, clothes, accessories, and entertainment. The night market is open from 6 pm to 11 pm, and it is a great place to enjoy the nightlife and atmosphere of Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai Gate is also close to many other attractions in Chiang Mai, such as the Wat Chedi Luang temple, the Tha Phae Gate, the Night Bazaar, and the Sunday Walking Street. You can easily walk or take a red truck or a tuk-tuk to these places from the gate. Chiang Mai Gate is a must-see spot if you want to explore the history, culture, and charm of Chiang Mai.

Historical gate of old town Chiang Mai it is the most visited and famous gate in the old town. It's common to see here both locals and tourist alike taking photos. There's also an evening market. Not sure which days.

Everything happens here. Concerts, family gatherings, people just wanting to sit in the park and watch the birds. Amazing space and a historical landmark as well.
