Pong Yaeng Elephant Sanctuary

I can't say enough about this sanctuary camp, for the owner and staff. First and former, they treat the elephants with dignity and respect. This is a mom and pop camp, and is not just an elephant ride mill. Very personable and pleasant. Not too far out of Chiang Mai, with many other attractions to stop if you want to make a day trip into Mae Rim.

Best place to see the elephants! Not a tourist trap at all like the ones you see in taxis lol. Felt very local and all the elephants are rescues. Got to feed them, pet them, take tons of photos, and bathe them

I would recommend to visit the Sanctuary with Mr. Ton as a mentor.

We showed up unannounced while riding the Doi Suthep loop.
One of the elephants was standing behind the entrance while 2 others where grazing freely. The caretakers were friendly and I could understand some of it with my basic Thai. No on the spot feeding as at other camps.

I suggest you give them a call prior to heading there to find out the possibilities (bathing, feeding, etc) I wish I could interact more with the elephants as they need all the help they can during these times.

Seeing pictures of people riding these poor elephants breaks my heart shame on you guys i hope these are from other camps and i did not waste my money on people who abuse animals
I asked 1000 times and care takes told me they don’t let tourists or anyone ride them so I believed them i hope they were being honest if you visit this or any other camp Kindly don’t ride them just pet them feed them .

Elephants seems to be happy there they walk them accross the whole place without any chains.

This was personal, friendly to the elephant and really neat. We got our own private family visit with an elephant, fed the elephant and bathed her. No hooks, chains or whips. Everyone in the family enjoyed this.

Great experience, small groups, nearly private!

Elephants are roaming around the river and the tour guide was very helpful!

Not a place for people that don't like riding elephants, But cheap and very private for the price.

นั่งไปก็สงสารไปแต่ก็สนุกดีตื่นเต้นตรงที่น้องหาของกินระหว่างข้างทางเสียวจะตก

Campo Meraviglioso, ci ha accompagnati qui Winny, una taxi driver fantastica. Questo era ciò che cercavamo, niente costrizioni, gli elefanti sono liberi, ovviamente ti seguono per le banane ☺ Se gli va di entrare in acqua entrano e li puoi seguire, quando vogliono uscire si esce... Semplicemente meraviglioso, ovviamente non si cavalcano gli elefanti

Ton ci ha fatto da guida in questa mezza giornata alla scoperta degli elefanti e devo dire che ci siamo trovati veramente bene! Eravamo un gruppo di 6 persone e ci ha spiegato e fatto vedere come interagire con un elefante lasciandoci anche spazio da soli con gli animali!
