Not a long drive from the city center. This temple is quite a popular place to be in the drama, series, and movies. Parking and walking for a few minutes to get inside the temple. Love the whole place decoration. It makes me feel the northern Thai. The main building looks charming. Take a few minutes to walk around the whole area. Worship the buddha image inside.

Absolutely beautiful temple built in the old Lanna style. Many people rent clothes here to get photos taken. Apparently, many movies and shows have been filmed here. Still a great place for reflection and meditation. This place was recommended and well worth the visit.

There are more than two traditional Thai clothing rental shops at the entrance. You can rent beautiful clothes, just like the hero and heroine in the drama, and take pictures here.

Came here around mid day and it was more or less empty, apart from a handful of locals. Quiet and beautiful temple. It can get alittle hot mid day. Also there is a traditional clothing rental shop at front that is highly rated. There is a private home of sorts next door that wasn't accessable but visible from the temple grounds. Worth checking out

This old wooden temple is elegant in it's simplicity.

It is only a short journey from the center of Chiang Mai and definitely worth a visit being not too busy.

Located 30 mins from the city center, this exquisite classic Lanna style temple is hidden silently behind the main road.
This is not a large temple, but with its tiny, every elements sit perfectly on their own place. Also the surrounded palm trees bring back the picture of living in the past.

I suggest you to come in the morning or late afternoon, coz there’s no shading nearby the main building. Moreover, the sunlight casting on the wall and the roof makes the carving more elegant.

Visited this community and temple area , and realised how many places that are so underrated in there. I personally like the old style temple's around and talking about peaceful around and clean environment. It's so good. Don't miss out the place to visit. If you happen to be nearby.

Wat Intharawat (Wat Ton Kwen) is one of the few remaining old wooden temples in classic Lanna Style. Located south of the city center in Hang Dong it is absolutly worth to come here for a visit. The unique look makes it also special for the photo enthusiats.

Also called Wat Intharawat, Wat Ton Kwen is a small temple named after a tree. 14 km outside Chiang Mai, built in 1858, it is very popular with Thais and very little visited by foreign tourists.

This temple was named after Ton Kwen, a kind of plant called takhob pa in Thai and Madagascar plum, batoka plum, governor's plum or Indian plum in English. It yields flowers and new leaves from December to April. Fruit becomes ripe from March to July and is eaten by birds, and in this way its seeds are spread. Besides Ton Kwen, the temple compound has tall trees like toddy palm trees which have served as a landmark for travellers to see the temple from a long distance.

It is not an overstatement to say that anyone wanting to see a masterpiece of Lanna architecture must visit Wat Ton Kwen.

Wat Ton Kwen is located in Hang Dong district, about 700km from Bangkok and 13km from Chiang Mai city. To get there, take either Highway 108 or Highway 121 from Chiang Mai, turn right onto Highway 1269, go further for a few kilometres and find the temple on the left.

The small temple is more than 150 years old. The name of the temple is derived from the name of the tree planted in their. Suitable for photo.
