My family really enjoyed our stay. Great location, with beautiful gardens and a mountainous backdrop, away from the centre of town but close to nature. Chiang Dao Cave is less than 10 minutes walk away and the Tam Pah Phlong temple is only a 510 step climb at the end of the road. Malee, Kurt and the rest of the team really looked after us and can help organise transport and hiking if you are up to it.

We stayed 3 nights here and wish we had stayed for a whole week. Malee and Kurt were so friendly and welcoming, we hired bikes for 2 days for a very good price , they gave us maps, advice on where to visit and the breakfast was wonderful. The garden is absolutely stunning it feels like a little paradise and the pool is lovely and refreshing, The room had everything we needed and was clean. We went out for dinner with Malee and Kurt on the last night and we had an overall great experience. We will be coming back again! Thank You :)

Pure Nature Bungalows! 100% natural surroundings with mountains, river, Flora & Fauna. Birds galore. Small swimming pool. Free breakfast. Great views + an observation platform for birding and stargazing. Lovely owners and service.

HOWEVER...needs air conditioning. The rooms have NO aircon. Nights are pleasant enough with fan(s), but daytime indoors is HOT. Other than that, everything was perfect.

I was searching for a place in Chiang Dao close to Wat Tham Pha Plong to do a solo retreat. I wanted a place quiet and peaceful, with a nice surrounding environment, a tranquil energy that could support my meditation and nature walking needs. I stumbled upon Malee's nature lovers bungalows... and it turned out to be one of the best finds for me. Malee and Kurt are wonderful hosts. Kurt is very knowledgeable about the trails nearby as well as native orchids (peep his 3D orchid images 😍). Malee is the sweetest business owner I've met. They make wonderful home made bread that is served with breakfast (the pancakes 🤤🤤🤤). The room was just enough for me, a comfy bed, a bathroom, and when you walk outside the sweet scent of a Hoya greets you accompanied by the fresh morning air, dew drops still waking up on all of the foliage, and the birdsong and frog choral. I met many birders there who go there just for that. There's a saltwater tub, a place for birdwatching and stargazing, and plenty of space to just unwind and renew your spirits. I had such a great and memorable time and am grateful to Malee, Kurt and Malee's brother for making my stay so warm and welcoming. When I come to Thailand I will make my way to Malee's again and again. 🙏🏽🤙🏽

Nice hotel with an amazing garden. The bungalows are simple but confortable. The host, Malee, is very friendly and her husband, Kurt, is an experienced hiker who gave us good tips about where to hike in the region.
Very recommend!

Malee and co were really friendly hosts, and their bungalows are in a beautiful part of Chiang Dao. Breakfasts (included in the room) were filling and tasty and were one of the reasons we stayed an extra night.

I enjoyed my comfortable bungalow with its beautiful garden setting. Although I'm a solo traveler, I got one of the larger bungalows for the mini-fridge as well as a kettle and a large porch. No air-conditioning, but not needed here. My bungalow had both ceiling and floor fans. Breakfasts are recommended, with several options, and yours might include home-made bread and jam plus garden tomatoes. Only breakfast is available, and you will have to go outside for lunch and dinner. Staff are friendly and helpful. Of the several dogs here, the white one hates cyclists but it only barks. Location is good on a quiet side road to Wat Tham Pha Plong, well worth a visit with an easy walk then a stiff climb on stairs. Wat Tham Chiang Dao--the main attraction with both guided and self-guided caves--is also an easy walk, in the other direction.

Basic bungalows (hot water, mosquito net, bottled waters daily, towels, soap, etc.) in a nature lover's paradise. Beautiful orchids, mountain views, and garden. Homemade bread and jams were delicious. We booked a two day/one night hike up to Doi Chiang Dao through Malee's, which was a bit pricey (almost $100 USD per person) but worth the experience. One guide and one cook, tent and food were provided. We stayed at Malee's again after the hike, and wish we could have stayed longer. Would recommend.

Malee and her husband is the sweetest people you will meet in Chiang Dao, they helped us with everything we needed. We slept there in our own tent, and the garden is amazing. It feels like beeing in a beautiful painting! They make wonderful breakfast (with homemade bread) and helps you if you want to hike or do something else in town. Malee made us feel like home 😊

We had a really nice stay at Malee's! Everything was perfect and the place is a real paradise. Malee and her husband were very helpful and took excellent care of us. The bungalows are clean, quiet and in a really really nice setting. And as a little bonus, you get to try Malee's homemade bread.

Malee was amazing and we had an incredible stay. I genuinely felt as if I was staying with family. From asking for my help to light a campfire at night, to lightly teasing us for using too much fuel when renting a scooter. And also making sure our breakfast was exactly the way we liked it. Malee was genuinely sad when we had to go (I was too) and she even gave us a papaya she picked from her garden.

Thanks for everything Malee, you made our stay in Chiang Dao so much better.

Malee and Kurt (not me, different Kurt), offer nice bungalows, in a beautiful, quiet setting. Great for bird watching, close to mountain temple and Chiang Dao Cave (both within walking distance). Kurt has some a beautiful collection of orchids, which I am sure, he will happily show you, if you ask. It also has a little swimming pool. Great info on hiking the local mountains there

Malee's is in a secluded area of Chiang Dao, a 5-10 minute drive out of town and set back from the road in a peaceful jungle corner. The bungalows are well spaced apart and are quiet and peaceful.

Malee herself was very helpful with the booking and kindly arranged our transfer back to the Chiang Mai airport at the end of our stay. She pre-arranged a guided day hike up Doi Luang Chiang Dao for us, and also managed to arrange a taxi to take us on a hotsprings/waterfall/village day trip at a moments notice .

The day hike was excellent, the walk itself is lovely and with the national park passes, navigation and a packed lunch all sorted we only had to walk and enjoy the views. Our guide had very little English but he was friendly and entertaining all day. The lunch was a good size, and included Malee's delicious home-made bread, freshly baked that day.

A word on dogs - Malee has four dogs which generally have the freedom of the place. We found they were quiet and well-behaved all through our stay and they were extremely friendly, we loved having them around!

Thank you Malee for an excellent stay!

We stayed at Malee's for our first week in Thailand. We opted for the $40 pickup in Chiang Mai and were able to stop at the bus station on our way to the hotel so we could get tickets out of town the following week. Malee is very helpful and speaks excellent english. She even offered us a ride back to her place when she saw us in town running some errands. She doesn't serve lunch or dinner anymore which is sad, but she has good advice on where else to go eat. The best meal I had in Thailand was a restaurant she took us to that specializes in whole fried fish and papaya salad. She sells wonderful honey, try it. The WIFI can be hit and miss, but it works well enough. It is a short walk to the temple which is worth spending many mornings while birding or just enjoying the forest. It is also a short walk to various restaurants/resorts that serve lunch and dinner.

Malee's is a lovely spot, and true to its name -- perfect for nature lovers. Away from town, at the foot of Chiang Dao Mountain, it's like a little fragment of Eden. The grounds are green and leafy, covered with fruit trees, palms, a dizzying variety of orchids, and it all buzzes with a rich texture of bird songs and insect sounds. Colorful butterflies frequently waft by, adding to the slightly dreamy atmosphere. Good place for a refreshing break from the city! You can walk or bike to Chiang Dao Cave and also the intriguing Tham Pla Pong Temple, with many steps up, leading to a sacred cave. Breakfasts are satisfying; there is no lunch or dinner service, but you can eat at the Nest, directly beside it, or other places a 5-10 minute walk away. The owners, Malee and Kurt, are extremely friendly and hospitable -- and also quite knowledgeable about the area. (They seem to know everyone.) I'll return someday, for sure.

Wins on location alone. For a birder looking to explore the area, this accommodation is ideal.

Really nice place to stay with friendly owners!
bungalows are clean and beautiful with big bathroom. Good WiFi connection everywhere in the area. A nice pool to relax after an amazing hike is also available.
For hiking the guesthouse is located really well, the food is delicious (thai/western) and we got helpful information about hiking and our trip. We really enjoyed our stay, thanks a lot!
