Music Instrument Workshop

MIW (Music Instrument Workshop) is an excellent guitar and musical instrument shop in Chiang Mai. They sell authentic Fender, Squier, Gibson, Epiphone, Ibanez, Gretsch and others. Tons of guitars, basses, acoustic guitars, amplifiers, and a range of other musical instruments.

The owner is also a very good guitar tech, and is excellent in making your guitar play and sound better.

I am a very regular customer of this shop since I was recommended early last year to go to this place by the bass player of the famous Chiang Mai band “Foxy”. Since then I have bought a Fender American Professional II Stratocaster, a Fender American Performer Telecaster, a Gibson Les Paul, a Gretsch G5427TG, a Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue guitar amp, a Trace Elliot bass amplifier and numerous guitar effect pedals in this shop. The owner also created a beautiful and professional-grade guitar effects pedal board for me.

Besides having a great selection of guitars, they also have pickups, spare/replacement parts from Fender, Gibson, and others, and some amps as well. Recently, he upgraded the pickups on my Fender guitars by some great sounding Seymour Duncan ones (Seymour Duncan Antiquities for the Stratocaster and Seymour Duncan Custom Shop ‘59 Telecaster pickups).

I have spent my money in this shop because the service I received was nothing less than excellent! The owner let me try out whatever I wanted to try or hear. He is very knowledgeable in everything related to guitars, amps, pedals, etc., and was a great source of good advice. If the shop doesn’t have what you are looking for, they will do their utmost best to try to order for you.

Communicating with the owner is quite easy. I don’t speak Thai, so we communicate in English, verbally or by Line (messaging application). Sometimes I get a written answer to one of my English questions in Thai, but then Google translate comes to the rescue.

All in all, MIW is a great shop and I absolutely recommend them!

Unless you’re fluent in Thai it might be best to load up google translate to get across what’s on your mind.

I was skeptical to visit the shop after reading these super negative reviews, but I had a great experience.
They had great selection of guitars, pickups, spare/replacement parts from fender, gibson, and others, and some amps as well.
They had lots of Thai customers and might not speak much English, but I used what Thai I know and the manager was really friendly. They didn't have the amp I was looking for but offered to order one for me.
If you don't speak any Thai and are looking for a more western selling experience then this might not be the place for you, but if you're comfortable window shopping or can converse in Thai then it's a great spot. I'll certainly be going here to get parts for my next guitar build.

I’ve been going to this store since late 2020 and they’ve been nothing but kind and helpful. Considering how I haven’t made a serious attempt at learning Thai, Im grateful for their help & the folks running this place have been great to me

Good place to buy professional music equipment

Great music store with a large selection of beautiful instruments, amps, and accessories. A little more pricey than other places.

Amazing selection. More expensive than others.
