A cracking bookstore - thousands of books which look chaotic but there is not only a curation, an order and also everything is on the computer system!

A lot of fairly priced books depending on condition. So many books you'll get lost in the stacks. So many friendly cats. If you're allergic, be careful. I'm mildly allergic but I had no reaction after being there for about 20-30 mins. But, the cats own the place.

So many books. I honestly wish I could have gotten more books but I'm limited in my luggage space.

Very friendly half Greek half Italian guy there that's friendly and chatty. Spend some time.

Don't forget the second floor.

Highly recommend for those who have more time immersing in their vast collections of all kinds of books 📚 Sadly I stayed only for a short while but thanks to their fully indexed system, I still found books I was looking for!

The shop has a vast array of books, sorted by categories. Moreover, they indexed all their books, so you can look up the books that you are searching for on an old-school computer in the shop.

I got four beautiful books from this place. It's a truly hidden gem. I stumbled upon this place by accident, but honestly, they have so many good books, and they're affordable too!

Such a storybook used book store! If you enjoy that kind of 'higgledy-piggledy' bookshop aesthetic, you'll love this place, especially when you realize that, although the look is 'stacks of books two rows deep', everything is incredibly well-organized, so that you can go on an adventure to find something interesting, but not be overwhelmed.

I easily spent over an hour there, and will likely go back while I'm still in Chiang-Mai.

The prices ranged from about 80 baht on the lower end to around 300 on the higher end (at least from what I saw) and this seemed to depend on a combination of the physical shape the book was in and how unusual the edition/book was. They also had some bargain bins of books in rougher shape, but at much cheaper prices, including picture books.

And there are cats! Go for the cats if nothing else =)

Impressive and satisfyingly old school dusty database system… got this and a Bukowski I’d been after for ages… as well as tarot cards. Long live the bookshop!

Favourite book store...I have been there maybe 5 times in the two weeks I spent in Chiang Mai

Shaman Bookshop in Chiangmai is a small and cozy bookstore that is home to friendly resident cats. The store offers a good selection of books in both Thai and English, and the cats add to the homely atmosphere. A must-visit for book and cat lovers!

These guys made my day. I wish I could have bought all the books that I wanted. Unexpectedly, I found two classics of the Peruvian literature here and the lady gave me mates rates, yupiiii!!!

Lots of books in different languages to choose from. We couldn't trade our books since we were new and the manager wasn't there, but the prices were very reasonable. And the kittens 😍

The best bookshop in the city by far and the most knowledgeable owner as well.

I went in search of a Specific Book and Author.
Within 1 minute the Staff Person had found what I was looking for and placed it in my hand. (I had tried 4 other stores already).

I then asked for another Author and was led through the maze of shelves and stacks, up the stairs, and presented with an array of Titles (I love a good Agatha Christie Mystery).
I was delighted to find many Titles I'd never read before.
So, instead of just the 1 book I went in search of, I came away with another 6. (There goes my Dinner Money for the next 3 weeks).

This Marvelous Book Emporium has every Subject Covered.
You can easily spend hours in here.
I'll definitely be going back many times.
They also offer some money back if you return your books.
The staff was knowledgeable, friendly and had really good taste in the Music she was playing.
