Absolutely loved this place. I went twice on different days through the week. The ride up is a bikers dream. Nice windy road with stops on the way.

There is so much to see, views are amazing and very peaceful. Highly recommend

Beautiful temple surrounded by beautiful trees and constant pleasant sounds of a waterfall. We went there in the evening, just 30 mins before its closing time as per Google, and it was completely fine. We came via a two wheeler and we were able to directly reach the place without having to trek. We actually loved the evening time as it gave the place a very warm look. Overall it's a must visit from our side as it really calms you down. Take a moment to just sit back and meditate on the beauty of the place.

This Temple is a favorite of mine! It's not over run by tourists and the setting is serene to the max. If we'd had time I would have stayed for much, much longer. It has nooks and crannies to explore, views galore, and a waterfall to lull you into a meditative state. The woodsy setting can't be beat.

You can’t leave Chiang Mai without visiting the temples on this sacred site. It’s wonderful how the temples and nature have become one. Although the temples are well maintained they have grown green from plants, which gives them their own look and character. Magnificent!
The path towards the temples is quite easy in dry season. It takes you approx 30 minutes to reach the temples.

In my opinion the most beautiful and actually most honest Buddhist Temple. Not so much glitz and glam, it’s serene and calm. It’s down to earth and tranquil. You can get there via the Monk’s trail, which is a 45 minute hike. Make sure to wear the right shoes. Flipflops won’t do.

There’s just a small group of monks living there, this area is private and should be respected as such. As well as the dress code! There were lots of tourists with complete disregard for the etiquette.
Please, don’t be that person!

Very nice and pleasing temple. A lot of nature and here you can experience the traditional Thai spirit and calmness. Strongly recommend as the temple is not crowded and indeed a hidden gem

Beautiful area to walk thru. Very peaceful and serene with So many photo opportunities. Be sure to dress appropriately here. Pants or long skirt and shoulders are covered completely. You can easily spend an hour if you walk straight thru. You will want to sit and take some of this beauty in. There are quite a few steps and some steps down to things and might be slick so be careful if your footing is not good. A definite must see and free.

Through a Friend I got the recommendation to take the Monk trail to the temple...
This was sometimes a challenge, but more than worth it...
The reward is a magnificent view over Chiang Mai.
Do not skip this trip... it also brings you more good luck after a visit, even only if you visit once in your lifetime... 😉✅💪

Breathtaking. Zen.

Best temple in my visit to Chiang Mai. If I were to choose one, I will choose this hidden temple. Will recommend an at least one way monks trail walk to this temple despite it being accessible by car.

The place is just epitome of mindfulness. Many spots for you to just sit, be still, meditate and be at one with Buddha, be at peace with one self.

The coconut ice cream at the entrance is very thick and nice too.

Set aside more time for this small temple, which also has great views of Chiang Mai city. Would love to stay there longer!

We visited the top 10 Wats in Chiang Mai and this one tops them all in terms of location, serenity and the gorgeous but understated architecture. Set among waterfalls and streams up in the mountain this is a lovely gem that must not be missed.

Most beautiful temple I’ve seen around here 😍

Why? Because, far from the city and agitation, far from the golden and luxurious decoration, the beauty of this temple resides in the lush and green and gorgeous nature surrounding it.

The temple decoration are simple yet fine and beautiful. The outside tower covered in mousse is simply astonishing and has an aura of stillness and sacredness.

I was so absorb in it I didn’t even take a picture or video. Truly beautiful ♥

This place should be a "must-see" for every visitor to Chiang Mai. The temple and its surroundings have a calming effect, the waterfall and the working monks give this place a dose of romance and fairy tales. If you have time and don't rush, don't forget to bring a book. You can get to the temple by walk or by car. If you decide to go on foot, and your knees are fine, I recommend the pathway descending from Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. It takes approximately 25-35 minutes.

A quick trip from the infamous overcrowded, loud, and touristy Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, is a serene peaceful Wat Pha Lat, a Buddhist temple. And we want to keep it that way; serene, peaceful, and no vendor selling tacky souvenirs. Actually, there's no vendor at all (we were there on Sunday).
You can easily spend a solid hour in peace and harmony, and not with rude tourists who shows no respect to the temples and other cultures. Who walks around in their short and no shirt in their church, cathedral or synagogue? Seriously??
I digress. There are many, many splendid temple structures, beautiful trees and gardens, and great views as well. It's a serene peaceful temple.

This has to be one of the most beautiful temples I have seen in Chiang Mai, and the best thing is that there are almost no crowds.

I did the walk up Monks trail to the temple (well worth the walk if you like hiking, but you can get a taxi/grab to the front door) and ended up at a picturesque view that set the scene for an amazing day. From the waterfall that runs through the temple, to the buildings surrounded by the jungle this place is just beautiful. I ended up just sitting for an hour listening to nature and taking in the beautiful view.

A must see temple.

Very nice temple with a Japanese style garden, with small waterfall behind the place. The landscape here is beautiful and the building is northern style. You can just sit and enjoy the atmosphere or meditate along with the peaceful sound from waterfall.

Nestled amidst the lush embrace of Chiang Mai's mountains, Pha Lat Temple is no ordinary sight. It's a whispered secret, a serene sanctuary where ancient whispers mingle with the rustling leaves, and time itself seems to lose its grip. As I stepped through the temple gates, I was immediately captivated by the intricate dance of architecture and nature.

The buildings, crafted from a harmonious blend of Burmese and Lanna styles, seemed to organically rise from the verdant landscape. Ornate hand-carved designs, like whispers from a forgotten era, adorned every surface, while the moss-kissed stones whispered tales of time and devotion. But it was the cave-like structures, carved directly into the mountainside, that truly stole my breath away. They exuded an air of mystical charm, inviting me to step into a hidden oasis, a world untouched by the clamor of the modern world.

Walking through the temple grounds felt like stepping into a timeless painting. Sunlight dappled through the ancient trees, casting playful shadows on the weathered walls. The air was thick with the scent of incense and exotic flowers, a symphony for the senses. As I wandered, a sense of profound calm washed over me. It was a place where worries dissolved and anxieties softened, replaced by a quiet reverence for the beauty that surrounded me.

Pha Lat Temple wasn't just a visual feast; it was a whisper of history. Built in the 14th century as a resting point for pilgrims journeying to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, its very stones pulsed with the echoes of countless footsteps and whispered prayers. The unique blend of architectural styles, a testament to the cultural exchange between Burma and Lanna, spoke volumes about the region's rich and vibrant past.

But beyond the historical significance, Pha Lat Temple is a place of profound peace. It's a reminder that amidst the chaos of the world, there exist pockets of serenity, where the only sounds are the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves. It's a place where time slows down, allowing us to reconnect with ourselves and the natural world around us.

If you're seeking an escape from the ordinary, a place to lose yourself in the embrace of nature and history, then Pha Lat Temple awaits. It's a hidden gem, a mystical oasis that will leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and forever enchanted.

Wat palad is a ancient buddhist temple hidden in the forest! It’s a hidden gem in chiangmai
It’s one of the highlights of our chiangmai
Trip
The place is very quiet and there are big trees and a small waterfall in the area
It’s very peaceful just walking around the temple area

Advice: Women should wear long pants as this is a temple area

Best Temple to visit near Chiang Mia. Set in the hillside nestled in the forest with water running through. No crowds. Much better than the “bling” on top of the mountain!

My favorite temple in Chiang Mai to be honest. Reaching this temple after a 30m hike feels like reaching into uncharted territory (minus the occasional tourists). The temple originally served as a resting place for pilgrims traveling to Doi Suthep, and its origins trace back to the late 14th century. The natural beauty that surrounds this temple made me feel a profound sense of calm and awe, much more than any other temple in Chiang Mai. Highly recommended!

One of the most beautiful temple I've ever seen. It's calm and in the forest. Great place to meditate. Walk from the city there by the Old monk trail, it's nice trail.
