Family Home Chiangmai

First time staying at a hostel, and I don't think I could have chosen a better place. Booked a private room for 3 nights, rooms were clean, hot water worked, AC worked like a charm, and they even provided free ice cold water to store in the fridge. Location was great as you're only a 5 minute walk from the old town, and excursions pick you up directly from the hostel with no issues.

In terms of the social aspect, its definitely more chill compared to Family Home 2, but if you want something a bit more quiet then this is the place for you. They also had events every evening as well. The staff were very friendly and spoke great English (Shout out to Cam and Lam).

La and Kam were so kind. I would give this place a 20 stars for their kindness and helpfulness. Very chilled atmosphere and we got a great night's sleep

Family Home is the best hostel we have stayed at in Thailand. The staff are SO kind and friendly, the vibe is super chilled and laid back but social also. They run nightly activities which are a great way to meet people. It’s not a party hostel so you can actually get a good nights sleep but still very social. Loved our stay.

A lovely, fun, social hostel! Great location and tons of events happening all week. Was very easy to meet people and even hanging out with the staff was just like being with friends. We had a really good, comfortable, and enjoyable time here. The tours they offer around the region are super good too, very authentic and well worth the money.

This hostel is my first experience in Asia for backpack and I couldn’t have wished for beter. The facilities are clean, the people there are incredible and so kind. he is always careful to help us, he looks for activities, he organizes outings, he always has a smile, it was a real pleasure.
The room are really cool as the toilet and bathroom is inside the room. Beds have curtains and cabinets that locks for your stuff.

Best hostel I stayed at in Thailand! İt's very clean, chill but also fun. Staff is kind, helpful, and sincerely interested if everything is ok with you. I arrived and in 5 mins all my excursions were organised, amazing restaurants and massage places were suggested. Met very lovely people there as well. Highly recommended!

Family Home is an absolutely fantastic place to stay in Chiang Mai! One of the best accomodations I've had in SoutheastAsia.

The staff are probably the best thing about it - they make an effort to know you by name and it does make you feel at home there.

They run events every evening which are great to help with socialising and meeting others staying at either of the Family Home hostels (there are two, a five minute walk apart).

The place is not too big either, with only a couple of small dorm rooms and some private rooms, which I personally liked.

In terms of location, the old town is only a 5-10 minute walk away which is ideal.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here to anyone!

Family Home Chiang Mai is definitely one of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. The staff are so so so friendly and helpful, the rooms are spacious and clean and it's a super social vibe. Would highly recommend!!

Great place to stay, nice and quiet but the organize events everyday at good prices. All of the staff knew my name, one of the friendliest hostels I've been to. The staff make sure you are very well looked after and can help you with anything.

The room had plenty of space and the bathroom was super good for the hostels average. The staff is wonderful and they will help you with anything, including the choose of activities around Chiang Mai.

If you have to book an hostel to Chiang Mai, that must that one !
People who work here are soooooooo kind, friendly, helpful... Beds are confortable and everything is always clean !

Awesome hostel and honestly in 10 years of backpacking there were few hostels as good as this one. Very clean and nice rooms, good location, great value. Joe (the owner) is awesome and doing far more for his guests than most hostel managers. He is a great concierge, too, organizing literally anything for you within minutes. The place gets calm at a reasonable time if you want to sleep but Joe is making sure that everyone is well connected when heading out for the night. Thus, all in all a very sociable place.

Joe is the best! If your looking for somewhere to stay in Chang Mai this is the place. We’ve stayed here a couple of times and both have been amazing. The dorms are clean and have a private feel once the curtain is closed. Joe helped us with everything we needed from booking our bus tickets and advising where is good to go. Would highly recommend!!

Family Home Chiang Mai was probably the best hostel I’ve stayed at in my entire one-month Thailand trip! It felt like home and I made some of the best memories here. There’s events every night and I never feel bored or alone as a solo backpacker. I highly recommend this hostel! 6 out of 5 stars :)

This was our favourite hostel we stayed in during our trip to Thailand. Joe and his family are incredible hosts and can't do enough to make you feel comfortable. Joe's family cooked everyone at the hostel a BBQ and even got us a birthday cake to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday! The rooms are spotless, there's free tea and coffee in the communal area which was very welcome after arriving at 6am!

Joe organised trips out for us and sorted scooter hire. We can't recommend this hostel enough and hopefully we'll be back in the near future! Cheers Joe, hopefully see you if you're ever in Liverpool 😁

Joe is a very friendly host and helps you with everything and even organizes get togethers for the backpackers to get to know eachother. There is a very nice vibe and the rooms are clean. We really felt like home. We would definitely recommend staying in this hostel.

Joe and his family are excellent hosts, wonderful people and the hostel itself is lovely! Great place to meet some new friends to go into town with as it's a very chill, community vibe. Clean rooms, comfy beds, curtains for privacy, and the dorms have en-suites which is actually quite nice.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about the family home hostel. Joe the owner and facilitator of the hostel went above and beyond for my partner and I. We were initially only going to stay for 2 nights but because of how comfortable and clean the place was and how social the hostel was with the other backpackers, we decided to stay an additional 2 nights. If anyone is going to be travelling to Chiang Mai in the future book your stay at this place because you will not be disappointed.

I 100000% recommend family home hostel to anyone who is staying in Chiang Mai. My boyfriend and I were there a week ago and it was the best hostel that we stayed in during our month stay in Thailand. Joe the hostel owner is the nicest guy you will ever meet, helping us with all the tours and information we needed for around Chiang Mai, recommending loads of different things for us to do and they all turned out to be amazing. The hostel is a great atmosphere and most nights Joe will organise nights out with people in the hostel including pool bars and outings to other bars and clubs etc. My boyfriend even went with him to play football with some locals. We were there during Songkran and Joe and his family and a couple friends organised a bbq for us all free of charge which was so generous. He does the bbq every Friday apparently. The rooms were really clean and spacious with great air con. We stayed at a different hostel on the first night and didn’t like it at all so switched to Family home hostel after a friend recommended and it was the best decision we made. This is a must stay. Not to mention Joe’s children are the cutest kids you will ever meet. We met some really great people here too which we have kept in touch with for the rest of our travels.

Love it here!! Joe and the team are so friendly, helpful (sorting out anything you want to do in Chiang Mai and nearby) and really do make you feel at home. We did many of the nightly activities and met a lot of great people this way. The private room (#1) was a good size, had a comfy bed and both fan and aircon, plus there was a fly screen so you could leave the window open at night.
