This temple known as the Chalong Temple is one of the most majestic and memorable places we visited in Thailand. Make sure to dress modestly when visiting. If you have shorts on, they will provide skirts to cover. The temple grounds is huge and you can spend hours enjoying the beautiful building, garden, and view. This temple also has some of Buddha’s relic.

The most important of Phuket's Buddhist temples. Built in the XIX century.
The tallest building is said to contain a splinter of bone from Buddha.
Climb to the third floor terrace to get cool photo opportunities. If you have a camera with decent lenses you can capture the Big Buddha on the Nakkerd hill.
Stand on the stairs to the second and third levels to get good shots of the first and second.
Don't miss.

Free to enter. Great place with magnificent architecture. Lots of space to park your vehicle. We drove a rented scooter to this place. Better to come before the sun arrives to ensure its not too hot. Overall a nice place to spend an hour admiring the architecture.

Chalong Temple is the most important temple in Phuket. It is a complex with some temples on the same land. It was built in honor of 2 Buddhist monks, who, with their herbal knowledge, helped the Thais in the fight against the Chinese rebellion. You can see wax statues of these monks in one of the temples. In the main temple, on the third floor, there is a chip of Buddha's bone and the paintings on the walls tell the story of Buddha. Entrance and parking are free. To visit the temples you must be wearing the correct clothing (below the knee and with shoulders and chest covered).

It was an honor to visit the grounds and have access to various buildings and the main Temple!

Our group offered a donation and we took candles; flowers and incense to the Temple to make an offering! While inside the main Temple we observed prayers and chanting..I felt grateful to be in the space!

It is important for visitors to be respectful of the NC a temple by: women covering shoulders and legs…no tank tops/shorts! Be prepared to remove shoes!

I think it is worth the time to visit this ancient Temple!

This is one of the island's most exquisite temples, conveniently reachable by private transport, taxi, or bus. It's effortlessly locatable and unquestionably deserving of a visit. I make it a point to return to this remarkable temple whenever I'm in Phuket. The architectural beauty is truly awe-inspiring. Please remember to dress modestly and maintain respect when exploring this temple and others. Enjoy your visit! 😊

There are quite a few buildings to explore at this temple complex. The highlight in my opinion is the Phra Maha Chedi which is a tall and impressive sight. You can enter and go upstairs to enjoy the view. There are some nice gardens to enjoy as well and it looks like they are expanding the place with more construction work going on. Near the edge of the parking area are some stalls with food and souvenirs, as well as toilets. Entry is free.

Wat Chalong is very beautiful! It’s a must visit when going to Phuket.
Although, a very touristy place with little chance of meditating, the buildings are beautiful to watch.
We enjoyed our visit here.
When done in Wat Chalong, visit Rim Tang for lunch or an afternoon snack.

It's a beautiful place and a must visit. Even with so many tourists, it feels so peaceful and quiet inside. The architecture is gorgeous and the statues are beautiful. I would highly recommend going here in Phuket. Also, please be mindful that they expect you to be dressed appropriately since it is a temple.

This place is so beautiful, so quiet, so serene. Onse should or must visit to this place. This place is Away from the crowded places of Phuket. Also the Monks are very nice and always smiling and they even won't bother to help you in anyways. They are very supportive and nice people.
To reach to this place either you can have to hire a cab or can hire a bike.

Very Important Note:
If you are a foreigner in Thailand and planning to hire Bicycle on rent then please make sure that you should hold International Driving Licence.
Otherwise traffic police will charge you 1000 Baht as a fine for not having the International Driving Licence.
Though, post paying the fine of 1000Baht, you can ride the bike for 3days across the city no one will stop you. You just have to show the traffic police the copy of fine paid and they will let you go.

Amazing place! Must visit in Phuket.
Crazy that entry is totally free. In Bangkok temples like this all are paid.
A lot of free parking around the area. There are some nice souvenir shops also.

The Wat Chalong temple is situated in Phuket city. We planned for a city tour and this temple was at the very top of the list. The architecture is followed by Buddhist temple making and the complex is absolutely beautiful. The temple is accented by golden, red and white colour. There are several buddha idols in this temple in various positions. The idols are covered with golden leaves as an offering. The complex is peaceful and quaint. It is a must visit in Phuket.

A great visit in Thailand. Mesmerizing stories and peaceful atmosphere

This is temple has few buildings and some of them are under construction on Dec of 2023 and if you go there after few months, it should be open.
The first building is the one that I took the video and it’s a bit crowded.

The second building is something you can get in all the way to the top. The many Buddha statues and stories of how Thailand brought back Buddhist artifacts from Sri Lanka.

The statues were beautiful and the view is great. There are few small restaurants and family owned gift shop out the temple.
There is also a public restroom near where the shops are. It took us a while to get taxi but I am sure most of you all will be traveling via tourist bus.

I would highly recommend this place.

One of the most beautiful temples in Thailand, it's a must-visit if you are in Phuket. The entire temple complex exudes serenity, offering a peaceful and quiet atmosphere that captivates visitors. You'll be enchanted by the soothing calmness that envelops the place, making it a truly special experience.

This temple holds immense religious significance among the local Thais. It is home to one of the most sacred relics of Lord Buddha — a tooth, a gift from the Sri Lankan Government to the Thai Government.

During our local tour, we had the pleasure of exploring this remarkable temple. We spent around one and a half hours here, marveling at the cultural and spiritual richness that this sacred site has to offer.

The exterior and interior architecture of the building is majestic. There are 4 main building; the main temple, wax museum, pagoda and another temple which entrance is restricted for monks. There is a Buddha relic at the top of the pagoda. You can purchase candle, joss stick and fire cracker as offerings. We spent around 30 mins at the location. As with other temples in Phuket or Thailand, you need to dress decently.

Beautiful plaza with many temples and many Buddhas and tons of souvenirs and ice cream and other street food. Women wear long skirt/dress or pants and at least short sleeves. No short bottoms nor sleeveless clothing aloud. Also wear sandals so it’s easy to remove shoes to enter temples.
Bring Thai Baht (obviously)
