We take a lunch there and it was perfect time. We wanted to try some traditional dishes in Romania and we found it. The service was excellent 👌 and the atmosphere too! The food was great and delicious and really beautiful served. I recommended the place.

While site seeing in Bucharest, we wanted to try authentic Romanian food. We stumbled into Vatra restaurant and we're glad that we did. The restaurant was extremely clean and the customer service upon entering was excellent. The decor inside the location provides you with a glimpse of the Romanian culture and ways. The menu is full of homemade style dishes that provide you with a taste of home cooking. The cabbage rolls with polenta were full of flavor and were delicious. If you're ever in Bucharest and want to try authentic Romanian food, this is the restaurant to visit.

Great authentic experience through food and atmosphere. During dinner we even enjoyed traditional dance performance. The house wine was also very good.

Awesome Romanian food. I had meatball (mice) alongside mashed potatoes. I had pickles, hummus, and mashed eggplant. Wine was great as well. Definitely I recommend this place.

A traditional Romanian restaurant in the heart of the capital, beautifully decorated, with a rich menu that offers plenty of choices. Wines were simply a dream, the atmosphere great, quiet enough so you get to talk and enjoy your meal in the same time. Absolutely loved it, I would definitely return, definitely more upscale/new than expected for a traditional place.

A very original restaurant with a national Romanian atmosphere. The food is delicious. For four of us we ordered two first courses, two second courses, two desserts, two lemonades and one coffee. We paid 100 dollars, which is a bit expensive even for the USA, and even too expensive for Romania. Overall we are happy with everything.

This place is great if you looking for a proper Romanian traditional food, place is also decorated traditional. Tha staff is very professional, paying close attention to its customers, always making sure you get the best service and most importantly food here is really delicious. I highly recommend meatballs soup (Ciorba de perisoare),tradițional meat rolls (mici) and chicken thighs stewed with polenta (saramura de pui cu mamaliguta), the chicken is cooked to perfection. Enjoy!

One must not miss this place (specially if you are a tourist in the town). The best sarmale and bean based meal (I forgot the name) I had in Bucharest.
Try to reserve in advance and expect a good service.

Visited here for a dinner date. For starters I went for the Traditional Romanian Dish Hot Appetiser. It was cheesy, mushroomy but lacked any other flavour. For mains I went with the Marinated Mutton with Polenta. The mutton was very juicy and flavourful, not dry at all. The Polenta was nice too. The desserts were the star of the show, we got the Papanași and the Soft Meringue and Nut Crust Cake were absolutely amazing. They were so fresh, tasty and very generous with the portion. Given the low prices for two 3 course meals you can't complain.

Vatra is something else. The food is great inmost cases, although I was disappointed by some of the dishes like Tochitură which was more of a bland tasteless stew. The soups are out of this world though, like the Pui a la Grec.
The service was exemplary, they have english and romanian speaking staff.
The location is also nice and accessible, although parking could be problematic in some time intervals.
Also, for coffee afficionados, they serve Illy, which is my personal favorite out of all commercial brands.

Loved the vibe, the service was incredible so kind and helpful. We really wanted to try it all and our waiters suggested the Braşovence, Sarmale românesti cu mămaligut, Mici with grilled meats, and then Papanasi!

The service was awesome! Our waiter and his colleagues were extremely attentive, helpful and kind.
The salads, meats and veggies were fresh and prepared perfectly. The restaurant is clean and the flowers everywhere create a great setting. Great place to bring guests that come to visit Romania!!!

Very nice place with beautiful traditional decorations. Well located in the city. The waiters are very kind and take care of their clients. You can taste traditional dishes here. I have tested the marinated muttons, very tasty with many flavors. The papanasi dessert was perfect. The dough was crispy and not fatty. A good match with the cream cheese and the jam. I recommend to share this dessert with someone else, the amount is huge!

Incredible food with an exceptional staff!
We had to leave early for our flight but the restaurant only opened at 12 (we accidentally booked an uber there without checking the time).
Luckily, the owner agreed to sit us earlier explaining we had to wait because they weren't ready yet.
While they readied the grill we ate their traditional Romanian soup which was mind blowing.
Then came the minced meat balls made with their secret recepie and we weren't sure how we will fit an uber going to the airport.
Highly recommended!
