The most spectacular gorges I've been through Romania! Quite difficult too, needs skills and adequate hiking equipment. The water was up to the knees at most (this actually is a low water level, making the gorges visitable).
Higher level of water will significantly increase the difficulty, making the crossing highly dangerous.
The views on the gorges are absolutely stunning, if you have the chance this adventure is a must, best to be enjoyed with friends in the summer.
The gorges are 5 km long and it should take an average of 2.5 hours to cross them in each direction (forth, then back).

Fantastic experience, beautiful nature. Raw and perfect! And on top of that it's all for free....

short but Great canyon. Need to walk inside the water in some parts. Go till the end and meet the ancient farm of Gabi and Eliana which can host you in a beautiful and special place

Very pretty walk along the gorge. Bring an extra pair of shoes as there are multiple river crossings and be prepared for tricky foot/handholds.

Amazing place for hicking! You need to go with good equipment as there are area where it is quite dangerous. Other than that, enjoy the spectacular view.

This is a great place for a good 2h-3h hike, it gets more technical towards the end and water shoes are recommended for wading through the shallow water instead of climbing on the steps and chains. A bit of a via Ferrata and bouldering style. Excellent air, and such a nice hike for a more sporty group. Highly recommended.

A wonderful place to get away from the noise of civilization. Breathtaking landscapes. A great way to relax.

It's more difficult in spring as the water is higher. I recommend to visit in late summer and autumn.

During our trip in Romania we did Cheile Rametului (ramet gorges) ,Cheile Madei and Cheile Turzii. This one was the most beautiful of them all, with Cheile Madei being a good second and Turzii a big disappointment after this one. This one is beautiful I would recommend it to every tourist on a warm summer day.
If you come here with children and want to do the complete Cheile, I would advise it if they were 7-8 years or older. For some parts of the route, you need to be able to hold cables on the side of the water to continue, we went about halfway with 3 kids 2, 4 and 6 years and enjoyed it a lot.

Beautiful trail through the gorge - but not an easy hike, and get ready to be wet, unless you are a really experienced climber.

A very beautiful place to visit. It will take you approx 1:30 h to visit it if you are well prepared and you will hace to cross the river at least 7-8 times so be prepared to get wet

The Râmet Gorges are a must-see destination for anyone visiting the Alba region of Romania. Nestled in the Carpathian Mountains, the gorges offer stunning views and an abundance of outdoor activities.
The best way to experience the gorges is to take a hike along the well-marked trails that wind through the area. The trails range in difficulty, so there is something for hikers of all skill levels. Along the way, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The Râmet Gorges are also home to a variety of plant and animal life, so keep an eye out for local flora and fauna.
If you're feeling adventurous, you can try your hand at rock climbing or rappelling in the gorges. The area is a popular spot for these activities, and there are several professional guides available to help you safely navigate the cliffs.
After a day of hiking or climbing, be sure to stop by one of the local restaurants or cafes to try some traditional Romanian cuisine. The Alba region is known for its delicious food, and you won't want to miss out on dishes like sarmale (stuffed cabbage rolls) and mici (grilled minced meat rolls).
Overall, the Râmet Gorges are a beautiful and exciting destination that should not be missed during a visit to the Alba region. Whether you're an experienced hiker or just looking for a scenic spot to relax, you'll find something to love about these gorgeous gorges.
