Alentejo Com Pão

Wandering the streets of the beautiful town of Silves, Algarve, Portugal we came across this absolute gem of a food shop. Not sure what it was but turned out to be a small tapas type restaurant. All the food and wine used here is from the Alentejo region north of the Algarve. Celso, the owner is a native of that area and promotes the food and drink from there. He produced a wonderful charcuterie board of amazing tapas for our mid afternoon meal. So beautifully prepared by him. This meal was €10 per person and was so large we could not finish it all. The crown jewel of this board was the warm chorizo sausage saturated with a touch of honey. It was finger licking good. This is an amazing warm and friendly man. I thank him so much for treating us to a wonderful food experience never to be forgotten.

The toast! Really, really good. Without doubt the best alternative for coffee/lunch in town. We also bought local gin and beers from the traditionally minded owner - a warm and talkative character. His place is a tribute to the rich gastronomical culture of the Alentejo region. Don't go to Sives without visiting this little gem.

Authentic tapas with food from alentejo. The owner was very welcoming and sat down with us for a bit and told us about the region and the origin of the food. Awesome tapas and we can recommend the homemade lemonade! Worth a visit if you are in Silves
Take your time for enjoying the food and wine

Everyone going into Silves should stop here to have a snack, lunch and/or pasties! And, if you have a sweet tooth, try the “pastel orgásmico” ☺😏😋

This little place was the highlight to our time in Portugal! The food and sangria was amazing, local and fresh. The store owner made the experience one we will never forgot. He provided excellent information on Portugal, and was proud of his home region Alentejo. He was friendly and offered wise life lessons. We have since sought out food and wine from the region of Alentejo and have been very pleased. Highly recommend!

Absolutely AMAZING experience. We stumbled on Celso’s shop while having a walk around Silves. We had the most amazing tapas, local wine and several delicious treats. Celso the owner was SO friendly and was more than happy to chat to us about his home Alentajo and the best places to travel to in the Algarve. He even kept his shop open later as we were still eating! I can’t recommend it enough and we will be back. From your friends from Australia 😊

We stopped here for lunch upon seeing it had local produce and "slow food". The owner was very friendly and chatted to us extensively about local products and the area. Very nice experience, thank you!

Najlepsze tapas w całym Algarve. Cudowne lokalne jedzenie przygotowywane z najlepszych produktów i z największą starannością. W pierwszym dniu przyszliśmy tu za późno, gdyż przed samym zamknięciem, ale między innymi dla tego miejsca i klimatu wróciliśmy do Silves ponownie. 10/10

O serviço é bastante simpático pelo que proporciona uma experiência de excelência. Provem o sumo de limão e não deixem escapar a sandes de presunto. A doçaria é variada e será difícil não pedir mais um par repetir 😉
