Birds of Paradise

Birds of paradise is an absolute gem! The lodge feels like a home away from home and the owners are fantastic hosts, always up for a chat and giving great recommendations for the region. The breakfast was amazing, the beds comfy and soft and the backyard with the pool is the best spot for a relaxing afternoon after surfing, hiking and exploring. With the car, the beaches and restaurants are reachable within 5 minutes. 10/10 recommend and we will be back!

We had a lovely time at the Birds of Paradise! Both hosts were very warm and kind and gave us some very nice recommendations about activities in the area. Breakfast was also delicious! We will definitely recommend a stay at Birds of Paradise!

The Sanderling room, with a super sunny balcony, is my favorite. The delicious breakfast and the useful suggestions for restaurants, activities & surf make it all very relaxed:)

Wow!! this place is absolutely perfect. We are so happy that we found it! It’s wonderful to see how much attention, energy and love the owners put into this place. Everything is designed to give you the best en most relaxing experience. We came here in January for a week to work (from our laptop) surf swim and relax. I believe there is no better place for this all. The nature is awesome, the beaches perfect to surf, and the house is the perfect work & relaxing place.
We will come back soon for sure!

The owners Dick and Vanessa are some of the loveliest people you will meet, they’re beyond knowledgeable about the area and won’t hesitate to give you the best recommendations for every bit of your stay<3
The rooms are kept to an impeccable standard and these two work around the clock to ensure everything is kept as cozy and welcoming as possible.
They offer yoga lessons on their yoga terrace and help connect you with surf instructors and SUP tour guides to make sure you get the full experience of the algarve!

Immersed in a beautiful garden this is your comfortable home to explore the aljezur and algarve area from!
The best surf spots are just a short drive down the road and there are many hikes just on your doorstep to explore the wild and natural algarve coastline. Pristine beaches and imposing cliffs are all around.

The rooms are kept in spotless condition and you can enjoy delicious breakfast with tons of variety in the homely living room or sunny outdoor pool area! The interior design is stunning and makes you feel warm, comfy and at peace.

Dick and Vanessa are the most caring and lovely hosts and treat you like family!
They know all the good spots to visit in the surroundings and will be more than happy to help you out with anything you need, including organising surf lessons, tours or yoga sessions to make your stay even more special!

Wonderful place! The hosts really made us feel at home. The spirit of the house is so relaxing and heartwarming. The rooms are so comfy and everything is wonderfully decorated. The breakfast is delightful! Vegan options among such variety of things.
It is surprisingly baby friendly! Our baby enjoyed playing in the living room with all the available toys and books.

High quality boutique surf lodge ran by a nice Dutch couple. All rooms have been renovated recently and are stylishly furnished, including private bathroom. Extra long beds (2.00m) for tall North Europeans.

Living room, kitchen and swimming pool are shared with other guests, but as they are spacious, you still have plenty of privacy.

Located a bit away from the beach area in a quieter suburb, but all tourist areas are easily reachable within few minutes by car.

Great place for a quiet get away or as a base for a surfing holiday, would recommend.

The hosts really looked after us when we had to cancel surfing because one of our group had an ear infection
This is definitely the BEST place to stay in Aljezur area. We will be back!
Strongly recommend you get bicycles if you plan to stay more than a few days
A car is necessary for the further locations such as Rogil, Amoreira etc

Lovely place to stay. They are great hosts. Practically brand new, very well designed and peaceful house in Val de Telha. Beautiful pool, nice breakfast and coffees in the morning. Great location for surfing at Arrifana and exploring the area. Can get on hiking trails directly from the house. Highly recommend!

Clean and beautiful hotel in a quiet and safe vicinity with two absolutely adorable host. Products and food are regional and home made. They helped us planning activities, getting bicycles and taxis. Gluten free diet was no problem at all. Would definitely recommend 100% and come again!

Fantastic place to spend your vacation and relax. Very well located with short distances to the sea. The hosts are very friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast provided leaves nothing to be desired, is sustainable and healthy.

The highlight of a 2 week road trip around Portugal. Birds of Paradise is a very special place. The owners have created a tranquil and beautiful house where you can relax and easily explore the beaches of Aljezur. I spend several months in Portugal each year surfing and this is by far the best spot I have found. Delicious breakfast too.

I loved staying at this beautiful cosy lodge. The house is so beautiful designed and decorated and everything you need to relax and enjoy yourself is available. Also the surfing and other things to do in the area (like horse riding, hiking, yoga and enjoying coffee places), made our holiday just perfect! We had amazing moments with the other guests in Birds of Paradise lodge and we also could take enough time for ourselves when we wanted.

This place is a gem, short distance from so many different beautiful beaches. Breakfast was perfect. We stayed for 5 nights and will definitely go back again. So grateful to have found this to make our holiday memorable.

clean, homely, exquisite! Birds of Paradise lodge ticks all the right boxes. Staying in this lodge was definetly a highlight of my vacation. I travelled with family and 2 kids and there was enough room for everyone.

I particularly loved the sit-out area, the kitchen and the pool! On the poolside, your view can wander far into unspoilt Algarve vegetation and local scenery. Its peaceful, relaxing and deeply therapeutic. There are tons of activities to please and thrill e.g., surfing, yoga etc. and of course the delightful Portugese food.

Birds of Paradise lodge comes very highly recommended!
