Quinta de São Bernardo

I cannot recommend Quinta De S. Bernardo enough. The entire property is absolutely magical. The view from anywhere on the property of the Douro River is breathtaking. We stayed in the Private pool villa and it was very spacious. There are comfy robes, slippers and the room had electric curtains you could raise in the morning with a remote controller to reveal a perfect view of the mountains and river while enjoying an early morning in bed. The staff was also incredible. All of them were very personable and so accommodating. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly. The dinners were also a treat. We never ate lunch but I am sure it is just as wonderful. If you are going to the Douro Valley, we highly highly recommend you stay here. We will be back.

The eat hotel experience I have ever had, the staff here is lovely and attentive. The small number of rooms makes the service here like no other place I have been, and the attention to detail is impressive. The rooms are clean and nice, the decor all around is good, the bathrooms are beautiful, the towels soft, the bed is good! There is simply nothing to fault this stay, and everyone here fleas above and beyond for the guests. I need to visit this place again and you need to go there if you are going to Douro valley, it is simply a must visit!

A one of a kind trip for our honeymoon. Each member of staff so very kind, a special mention to joe and Joanna who were very accommodating even making sure we both got burgers when the kitchen was closed. We used their electric bikes free of charge to explore the near by areas which was a notable highlight. The drivers were super too, shout out to Reuban and the gentleman who left us off today. Can’t wait to return to experience the best hospitality and the best wine.

Amazing views, great service, delicious food and wine. We spent a day with kids and had a wonderful time. The place is very family friendly, beautifully designed, and has a great laid back atmosphere. Food and wine we tasted were excellent! Joao was very helpful with our visit but everyone we came in contact was welcoming. We did not have a chance to stay overnight but next time we definitely want to stay there.

Hands down one of the best experiences we have had at a hotel. We stayed for 3 nights during our honeymoon to Portugal and we’ll now recommend to everyone heading to the Douro Valley.

The staff are amazingly helpful, engaged and just lovely to speak with. We found the pool beautiful and the perfect temperature. The kayaks were fun and the food (we had the daily included breakfast and both lunch and dinner once) was amazing. Wine tasting was also a great time.

We would come back to Portugal just to stay here.

Incredible stay at this beautiful hotel. From start to finish, the hospitality was above and beyond, super friendly and kind staff, delicious food, great views and wonderful facilities/activities. No faults. We will certainly be coming back next time in Douro.

We went there for lunch and wine tasting during the afternoon. Very kid friendly, they had high chair available for our baby. Food was delicious. The staff was super friendly, taking time to explain all options. They had a small playground including a swing for our baby to enjoy the amazing view. Finally, the wines we tasted were great. I would recommend to everyone passing by. We took a train from Porto to Rede station and then a 10 min taxi (15€).

Stayed here in winter 2022 and had an excellent stay. Highly recommend it in terms of room, service. Restaurant serves delicious, seasonal food. However then, only set menus so be prepared to eat quite a bit! Menus change everyday and betwen lunch and dinner which creates a great dining excellent.

The buffet breakfast spread was vast and excellent.

Absolutely lovely stay for two nights. Impeccable service the whole time , comfortable beds , beautiful grounds. Everything was perfect .

Incredible experience, from the arrival to every single small attention. My wife, I and our baby girl felt at home. If we could give over 5 stars we would, especially for the quality and kindness of the employees.

Everytime we needed something, even having a meal for our baby earlier than the usual kitchen hour, they happily accommodated us, with a smile!

The wine was delicious, the food even more! A true gastronomic experience. We even had the chance to speak with the chef when he wanted to be sure that everything was to our taste!

Finally, the environment could not have been more beautiful and relaxing. A true escape from the busy scenes of Porto and Lisbon.

Definitely a must see/go and taste and we will be back the next time we are in Portugal.

A gem that we discovered while on a hike. We had a wine tasting and a few days later enjoyed a dining experience that rivals Michelin rated restaurants. Dinner staff was knowledgeable and attentive. Dishes were creative especially our starter plate of potato onion and cheese. The sea bass was cooked perfectly. We will go back when we return to Portugal next year. A must visit for all who are in the valley area.

They 100% deserve their 5 star rating. What an amazing experience at this Quinta from start to finish. Originally we had planned to simply stop at this Quinta for lunch but we fell in love with this place and decided to stay the night (luckily they had a last minute cancellation). Juan at the reception was formidable, tending to our every need making sure our stay was perfect. The wait staff at the restaurant were also super friendly and welcoming. The food was great and the drinks were amazing. The wine tastings were delicious and the room was gorgeous and the views; spectacular. We 100% recommend this place and only regret not staying longer.

Incredible stay. Everything was exceptional from the location, to the design, to the food & wine, to the hospitality. We initially booked one night, and extended our stay by a night because we had such an amazing time. A special thank you to Joao for his prompt and amazing accommodations, suggestions, and help across the board. To Antonio and Ruben for amazing hospitality - extremely friendly and fun people. To Helena, the pastry chef, for creating such an amazing dessert (the best brownie I've had), as well as her hospitality and kindness. To Diogo for also being extremely friendly and helpful throughout. We recommend staying here highly, and hope to make our way back soon!

We did not have a chance to stay it was fully booked, we visited ,had wines and octopus salad with bread and desert. I wish I was hungry ,everything seems so delicious. Such an amazing winery to stay, with river view and pool,high end restaurant .The staff was the best.May be next time 🙏💗

Dont think twice.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights. It was a beautiful, magical place, with stunning views of the Duoro River and Valley. We were impressed and very happy with our room (with a balcony overlooking the river). The service was amazing. We had coffee and tea served to us in the family room one morning while we read books. The food was the best we had in Portugal. We had dinner in the greenhouse one night and it was lovely and private and special. It was heaven on earth for a short time and we feel so lucky to have enjoyed this place. I didn't mention the wine but that was great too! We drove here from Porto (through the village of Pinhao) and it was a relatively short and easy drive with wonderful views along the way; we kept stopping to take pictures!

Super great location overlooking the Douro river, it's a bit far from Porto but reachable in an hour's drive but we'll worth the drive because the food is magnificent. Prices in order with the quality of service. Super recommended.

Me and my partner went there for lunch only because unfortunately it was fully booked during our stay in Douro Valley. We were impressed with how beautiful the place was, the surroundings were breathtaking, the estate itself was gorgeous. We had a wonderful experience, the food was very tasty, the wine was great and the service even better. We ordered different wines with our dishes and everytime, the staff took time to introduce it properly. They were so polite, friendly and very approachable.
Would love to go back and definitely spend more time there.

An amazing experience & highly recommend if in the area! We stopped by this place for lunch on our trip to the Douro Valley with no reservation, despite this, the team were able to accommodate our group of 4. Both the food and service were top notch. Lunch was reasonably priced, especially considering the location, venue, and hospitality provided.

After lunch we were able to explore the beautiful grounds and vineyard.

Note - depending which way you are coming from google maps may lead you down the wrong road, so best to follow the signs on the side of the road.

This was phenomenal from start to end. The scenery is unbelievable, on top of that they have all round absolutely fantastic staff. One of the best meals we have ever had, everything fresh and made with love! We absolutely loved our main meals, and the dessert was phenomenal. I could not recommend it enough and we will be returning again tomorrow!
