Tasca do Zéquinha

This is a great local restaurant, a chance for tourists to enjoy a place where locals eat. The food was very good, especially given the very reasonable prices. The servings are plentiful and have varied sides. The wine is really excellent. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. We ate there twice. The much daily plates were a super bargain!

This tasca of Mesao Frio was one of highlights of our 1 month trip! We found this place by the host we stayed and we felt immediately very local spot when we got in here with bright owner and card playing locals next to us. Truely home made, fresh, warm local food with offordable tasty local wine produced in cooperative way. We 5 people had great time here with nice food, wine and warm people for 2 dinners! Want to come back this village to visit this tasca in the near future. Highly recommended.

We went to the restaurant since a local taxi driver recommended. It was great especially I really liked codfish cakes.

Can't get more authentic Portuguese than Tasca! We arrived at 6pm on a Saturday evening, but oops, dinner wasn't being served until 7. Very cozy (only 8 tables that I could see) and full of locals watching soccer. Felt a bit out of place at first, but soon we were welcomed warmly. Ordered a bottle of wine and our host Andre brought bread and olives, omelet, grilled pork, salad and soup (all before the dinner hour). One older gentleman shared his roasted chestnuts with us. Ended with a glass of port. Total cost under 30 euros (including 2 bottles of wine). Wow, talk about great value.

We LOVED this restaurant and had the most delicious dinners here 2 nights in a row. The owners/staff are so friendly and made us feel like family/locals. Such a lovely homey and local feel. We ate the most traditional, delicious Portuguese food here. Sardines, Soups, Meat (pork cheek with chestnuts I think?), Dessert, Porto, Wine, Huge portions, and everything served with greens/rice too. my husband and I shared and recommend sharing. Best place to eat in Mesão Frio! Delicious food—really enjoyed both the shrimp and sardines. The staff are friendly and the owner is a true character. I recommend getting there early if you want a table, they get very busy.

Awesome portuguese home food! Good quality/price ratio!!

We arrived with no booking on a Monday night but were seated with the promise of a table shortly. We were served wine & a snack whilst we waited! The meal we later had was the veal with roasted potatoes & spinach. OMG it was the best veal my husband & I have ever eaten! The house red topped off a fabulous meal!! I can't recommend this establishment highly enough! The owner was very chatty & hospitable and I promise you won't be disappointed if you come here!!

This was my second visit here and both times, the meals were absolutely amazing! The staff are really lovely as well. Can’t recommend this place enough.

This place is a real gem. We showed up for a late-ish dinner and took an interest in the next table playing cards. Before we knew it we were full on in a game of Sueke, a Portuguese favorite. The food was great, but this place is all about the atmosphere created by the owner and some local patrons. We left at 2am :) It was amazing!

Don't let the entrance fool you, it's not just the local tavern, but also a nice small and cozy restaurant. The owners' service is good fun. Best of all was the food, where we got a local stew, which was delicious, and a homemade apple crumble for dessert.

The restaurant was recommend by our host and we were more than happy with this choice! The food was delicious, the owner and his wife very friendly and overall a great local experience! We will definitely come back!

We were in the area for three nights, we ate here the first night on the recommendations of our air bnb host. We went back every night afterwards. We had a different meal each night and they were all delicious. It is a great place it feels like you are having dinner in a Portuguese family's home, because you are.

Definitely worth a visit here, one of the best local restaurant I have even been to in the region.
