We had to wait to be seated for quite some time, but it was definitely worth the wait. This family-run restaurant offers traditional Portuguese food of very good quality for a fair price. The food is homemade, simple and delicious. I especially liked the barley soup. The portions were so big we had to ask for a doggy bag (the only time in Madeira!). I loved the service too, very kind and genuine people. Would definitely come back.

Fantastic experience. Our best meal on Madeira. It was Sunday so absolutely packed out but they managed to find us a table after a bit of a wait. The welcome was extremely friendly and the service first rate. The food was fantastic. Home cooking with local produce. Everything was from Madeira. There is no menu just a list of what's good that day. And it's great value for money. Definitely to be recommended

We were the only tourists there; despite this, we felt warmly welcomed. Right from the moment we walked in, we knew this place was something. It was a bit crowded and we waited about 20 minutes for our table.
The staff was accommodating, and the waiter's food and wine suggestions were spot on. Every dish, including dessert, had that homemade touch. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and highly recommend this place for an authentic local experience.

I can recommend this place for all who want to try a real local food and atmosphere. It is not a kind of food I like much :) but I can say that the quality and genuineness is worth to recommend.

Very local and stylish restaurant. They have all kinds of local food, which is homemade and tasty. Another special thing is that they serve with stew dishes while other restaurants only have fish and grilled meat. You definitely should try it out! Highly recommended!

A cute little place run by an old couple, wife in the kitchen and husband greeting customers. Very warm and homey feeling, the stews we had are all family recipes. Strongly recommend the chicken stew, very tender and we asked for more sauce because it was so good on rice or dipping bread. The wheat soup (like a wheat porridge with veg, pork and chorizo) was also very heart warming. 2 thumbs up!

It was so worthy to come there! Delicious food, good atmosphere, one portion of Bacalhau is enough for 2 people!

We had a lovely lunch experience. The service was very friendly and our server patiently explained each of the dishes on their daily menu. The atmosphere felt welcoming and we wldid not mind waiting for our seats on a busy Sunday afternoon. We ordered a fish and a goat dish that tasted fantastic. I hope to make another visit some time soon!

The most wonderful experience!

We had just hiked the Levada do Caniço (which literally took me to my knees at the most iffy parts, but luckily on purpose) and climbed up the stairs to Camacha when we found this gem.

Delicious home made food, very affordable prices and the best service ever. This was truly a family place, where the whole family worked the room and the kitchen. When we couldn’t decide on a dessert, they made us one ”with a little bit of everything.”

Don’t miss O Cesto!

A great moment after a few hours walks.
The quality of the food, the service and the Wine were good. The price is quite fair.
I will come back if i am in this area again.

Oh you'll love the food and the owners! This place is something truly special, a family restaurant with a warm feeling and amazingly tasty traditional food. We are in Camacha for one week and we want to eat here every day. A warm recommendation from 2 foodies :D

Excellent restaurant. Actually one of the bests in Madeira when it comes to “home cooking” and traditional cousin. The owner speaks great English and has a fascinating story about his life to tell. Portions are generous and good value for money.

Stopped in for coffee after a hike at Levada dos Tornos below. Had a great conversation with the owners. Bought some food to go.

A warm welcome from English speaking staff. No menu, just what is in season and cooked on the day. True flavours of Madeira, with some delights. The duck rice is particularly a favorite. All of the other dishes especially the wheat soup and meat "casseroles" are really tasty. As to puddim/pudding go for the chestnuts however served

Our favourite restaurant in Madeira. Amazing traditional food, friendly and welcoming staff. We felt right at home. The “Sopa de Trigo” is a must. Really good selection of local wines.
Will be our first stop on our next visit. 🤩

A family restaurant in the mountains with only homemade dishes. How delicious! Good wines too. Most lovely service. Great choice when in Camacha.
