VINTAGE HOUSE Old Town

We had the pleasure of being one of the first guests to stay at this lovely cottage, just restored and everything new. Owners have been very careful in providing everything one could need, especially fine linen and comfortable dining area outside. Very special and charming, would recommend to anyone visiting Madeira, very central and easy to walk.

Location was perfect in the zona velha (old town of Funchal, the capital of Madeira). Lovely beach nearby for swimming and lots of good restaurants and cafes to enjoy. This self catering house is very complete, with a full kitchen (even though we used very little), large comfy beds and the wifi was excellent as well. We watched the fireworks on saturday from the top terrace which was beautiful.

The place to stay for sure. We loved our holiday at Vintage House, the location in the old town was ideal to walk to the beach, places to eat and attractions. The house was very charming, the service was attentive and they arranged our airport transfers. So all good, and a place we would recommend for sure.

Loved the decoration!!! Went to Funchal for a week with some friends for sea & bike trails, spoilt rotten by the choice of sports. Recommend a swim in Barreirrinha sea pools!

Vintage House has a good location for access to the old town...BUT it's not an easy walk. Going down is fine but if you're not reasonably fit, it's a steep climb all the way back. Potentially the house will sleep six people but the kitchen is woefully small and food preparation is not easy with little work top space. But everything works as it should and the 'outside' dining area is a joy.
It seems everyone in Funchal has at least one dog and their barking....which sets off a chain reaction....does not help for a sound night's sleep. Would we go back to Vintage House? Yes is the answer...it represents good value for money.

Stayed here with some friends at the beginning of December. We arrived after check in time after a long journey to find the cleaners only starting, no apology just told to come back later. There was stench coming from the kitchen area the whole week and the place wasnt cleaned to the usual standard for example, there was an apple core in between the couch cushions. The place does not live up to the pictures and was shabby, in need of painting. The worst thing was the house was infested with ants, even seen them on beds. What was most galling was when we complained we were told not to leave food around and as if it wwe our fault. The owner said she had been there the week so clearly had to have known there were ants. We were all bitten whilst there, we believe ant bites as they were on areas which were covered but owner said Mosquitos. Its a nice house but in need of a freshen up and exterminator. Did not think the price was justified. Can’t upload videos so the extent of the ants not really captured in photos.
